The Tigers went for broke by basically trading away their farm system for Cabrera, Willis and Renteria and lost. Cabrera started the year at 3rd, but now is playing. Renteria is shot and Willis is a mess. The Tigers have Willis, Nate Robertson and Jeremy Bonderman all tied up to big contracts. Verlander seems to lost something. He got beat up by the Yanks on Monday. The Tigers are actually in worse shape than the Yanks.
Ken, would the Yanks consider trading Cano for a centerfielder or a pitcher?
Probably more a pitcher than a CF, Dennis. They're hopeful that Austin Jackson is the long-term solution in CF. But I'd bet on Cano being a Yankee in '09.
How's that no-hitter thing working out for the Brewers?
Do we expect the MLB grand jury to cme back today?
And, the Brewers are playing stupid baseball again today....the curse of the one-hitter commences....
I'm disappointed by the Brewers. They got swept by the Cubs at home in July when the division was still their for the taking. And now it looks like they will get swept by the Mets at home. I can see Ned Yost being fired, even if they make the playoffs. And don't look now, if the Brewers lost this afternoon and the Phillies win tonight, the Brewers will be 3 1/2 games ahead of the Phillies in the NL Wild Card race with a 4-game series between the Brewers and Phillies in Philadelphia a week from this weekend.
All hail the Mets !
Like Bob Klapisch wrote last spring, nothing captivates New York City like a Met post-season run (allow for paraphrasing)...
Happy to see Ryan Church get his first HR since coming back...
Yeah because a Mets post-season run is extremely rare :(
