Barack Obama: A muse-ing

By Kimberly

Donatella Versace has dedicated her latest spring/summer 2009 collection featured in Milan, Italy, this weekend to Barack Obama, citing that he is "a relaxed man who doesn't need to flex muscles to show he has power." She went on to recommend that Obama "get rid of the tie and jazz up the shirt.” Perhaps Obama should loosen up and sport the silk tank top seen below — that is if he wants to lock up the voting bloc of Fire Island!

But in all seriousness, this news story underscored just how much Obama has influenced a renaissance of art and creativity while also encouraging political engagement. Through these images and works, Obama is already an icon. I’ve rounded up a few of my faves for your enjoyment.

The “your new bicycle” Web site started by Mathew Honan as a joke to describe Obama in warm and fuzzy, young love situations to give him a softer side. Just refresh the Web site barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com or click the text to get the next giggle. Some of my favorites: BO baked you a pie, BO smiled when he heard me mention your name and BO helped you move a sofa.

Though he may not sport a flag lapel pin, maybe he’ll choose a little felt effigy of himself?

This would surely be the cover of his first LP, if he had one.

This is quite possibly my all time favorite. It’s almost a religious experience!

This picture is laugh out loud funny in its error.

People have reinterpreted the "Robin Hood" story to be about "taking from the rich and giving to the poor", but that's not what it was about at all.

Robin Hood did not indiscriminatly rob the rich to give to the poor. He robbed the sheriff of Nottingham, rich churchmen, and tax collectors. He took BACK from the looting government the property and money that was confiscated from those who actually earned the money and owned the property.

So Obama Hood's giant bag of "healthcare" can only be achieved if he has the government confiscate a greater portion of the public's earnings than they already are. So in this analogy, Obama is the Sheriff of Nottingham, not Robin Hood.

There should be more pictures of Obama resembling Karl Marx or Che Guevarra because he believes more in a socialist or communist system than he does the American system. Redistribution of wealth, universal health care, massive federal government education reform, censorship, weak defense, and the list goes on.

He says he is a champion of the middle class but if his policies become law than the middle class will become extinct in America.

Speaking of LP covers, Obama's slated to be on the cover of Rolling Stone's July 10 issue.

MTA, I think all board members should pay out of their own pocket for transportation. This way they can see how increasing the fare affects the regular commuter, who on average make alot less than anyone on the MTA Board.
