Barack Obama today spoke with former President Bill Clinton, who has been described by associates in media reports as still smarting over his wife's primary loss. The Obama campaign described the converation as "terrific."
Clinton was not a part of the joint appearance Obama and Hillary Clinton had in Unity, N.H., on Friday. However campaign aids said the event was designed to concentrate attention on the two former rivals. The Obama campaign noted in a statement today that the former president is backing Obama's presidential campaign.
"Senator Obama had a terrific conversation with President Clinton and is honored to have his support in this campaign. He has always believed that Bill Clinton is one of this nation's great leaders and most brilliant minds, and looks forward to seeing him on the campaign trail and receiving his counsel in the months to come," said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

The article suggests that this is surprising somehow.
It's not.
It's how we win the 65 year old women indies over to our team.

I'm sure they could talk up a blue streak.
They're both "policy wonks", right?
But: I wonder if Barack felt the hair on the back of his neck standing up instinctively in the presence of BillyC.
He should have.
