Clinton backers rally at DNC showdown: The Swamp

The last thing Barack Obama's campaign wanted at this morning's Democratic Party showdown over the Michigan and Florida delegates was a big clash outside between their supporters and those of Hillary Clinton.

And as of 9:30 a.m., they seem to have achieved their goal. Hundreds of demonstrators are gathered outside waving signs, but there were no obvious Obama backers among the protesting crowd.

Many are wearing Clinton t-shirts and buttons, including Beatriz Ocampo, a paralegal who drove down from Hoboken, N.J. to join the rally.

Her beef is mostly with the Democratic National Committee and its Rules and Bylaws panel, which is meeting inside, because of the party's decision to strip Michigan and Florida of its delegates to the summer nominating convention. The states are being punished for holding early primaries in violation of DNC rules.

But like several others interviewed, Ocampo is also concerned about the fallout for the Clinton campaign. She thinks it would be easier to argue to superdelegates that Clinton should be the nominee if the Michigan and Florida delegations were seated.

"It's resented by her supporters that party leaders are trying to throw her under the bus," said Ocampo.

Nearby, one Obama supporter stood quietly, wearing her candidate's button.

In her bag were voter registration materials, for anybody who wanted to take them and go out and work on Obama's behalf signing up voters.

If Obama supporters show up, she says she'll encourage them to direct their efforts elsewhere.

"If they have extra time and energy," said Pat Hynes, of Reston, Va., "we have several voter registration drives going on. There's something productive they can do."

There's still some question among the demonstrators whether the Rules committee, which just convened its meeting minutes ago, wlil do something productive. The Clinton supporters want to see the full seating of the "Florigan" delegates, and anything short of that seems unlikely to change the dynamic of the race in which Obama has a strong lead.

I have to say those Hillary supporters are passionate. Scary, but passionate. Seems they are all about Hillary and not really into the issues. They won't support another candidate with basically the same views on the issues. I hope that after they vote for another candidate that supports the war......we never have to hear them complain about it ever again.

Oh Hillary, please do us all a favor and go away; the sooner the better. You have lost, and you have worn out your welcome (except from McCain supporters).

Give it up people, she is done and needs to fade away.

They are all nuts....and Hillary only adds fuel to the fire. Will they riot? That would be great news....a bunch of angry men and women looting in the name of H-I-L-L-A-R-Y.

I'm actually hoping that Hillary steals this nomination. Then when she gets trounced in the general election, we can here her complain about how flawed that process is.
The only problem with the process is that the people decide. That did not mesh with her plans this time around.
And, you know what, maybe she is right and our founding fathers were wrong. Maybe it is time for a Monarchy. And what better choice than the Clintons. King William and Queen Hillary. Chelsea would make a lovely Princess. And, we could change the name of the White House to White Castle.

The Anger of Woman Over the Dispicable Treatment of Hillary By Obama's Racist, Demagogue Rabble-Rousers, The Frenzied Response of his Fellow Church Goers and Wm Ayers to boot Will Sink Him With Most Americans

A priest who has been dressed down instead of dismissed by his Cardinal is the latest to viciously personally attack Hillary Clinton because she has the audacity to fight for the nomination of her party against a naive rookie without accomplishments named Barak Obama. This long time advisor, supporter, mentor, beneficiary of Obama earmarks of hundreds of thousands of dollars again brought the Rev. Wright's cauldron of hate an attack equal to Rev. Wright's racist rant against Hillary. He praised Farrakhan as did Wright. Obama's fellow church goers reacted with a frenzy, a joyous outpouring of hate directed toward Hillary as they shouted and whooped to the racist diatribe laced with acid and damnation -in the former house of the Lord? Obama issued no real apology to Hillary Clinton nor did he come to her defense. Only the man of integrity and manners, John McCain spoke up in her favor. The Women should in their wrath strike back at these obcenities directed at Hillary and vote McCain.

This seems to be a win at all costs approach. If she won, would she take the same approach as president? Makes me uneasy that she has difficulty facing reality...

I support Hillary Clinton and i'll support her till she say's it's over.
The DNC needs to do the right thing and have ALL seated.
If they don't count the votes, how will that make all those people feel ?

I'd like to suggest that all of the demonstrators...and objectors, in general read the document...the pledge (a pledge is a solemn sworn promise) signed by all the candidates, including Barack and Hillary. And then I'd like them to wonder how they can support someone that so blatantly goes back on their word.

If this were the exact same situation but Obama were the candidate whom went back on his word and campaigned in those states, was the only one on the ballot in one of them, and needed their delegates to catch up with Clinton, you could bet the farm that these supporters who want "fairness" for those states would be NO WHERE to be found.

Face it Clinton supporters, this isn't going to happen.

Hillary could have said: "I'm a woman of my word, and I hope the DNC does the right thing by FL and MI". She could have gained a lot of support that way.

Remember, she signed a pledge to not campaign AND NOT PARTICIPATE in these primaries (which includes lobying delegates).

Instead, she again showed her character as a fundamentally dishonest and absolutely selfish person by adamantly going back on her word now that it is convenient, she is arguing to have them ALL seated in her favor.

Obviously her supporters do not care about honesty and character, esp. considering all the other dishonest and misleading accounts of her own life, history, etc.

It is at the point where my fiance, who originally supported her now says that "Hillary is scarier than Bush" and that "every foreign leader watching has concluded that they wouldn't be able to trust her word on anything".

Too bad, she had many opportunities over the last 5 months to stand up and take the high road, and instead she took the low road every time. Any Dem. or woman who thinks that HRC is for them as a Dem or a woman is a fool. She is only out for HRC power. Pathetic

I have to say I don't feel the same way about these "poor" people. They wanted to set themselves up as more important than the other 48 states. They knew the deal...they played chicken...they lost. Now you have a bunch of voters asking the DNC..hey whats up? instead of asking and demanding action from their own elected officials now or prior to. These people post on here how upset they are and they'll vote republican, and not a one has asked the state legislators why or held them accountable.

The real story here is that Obama put a concerted effort into quashing a "counter-protest" by his supporters, and it worked.

It's much harder to convince passionate supporters NOT to make a stink than it is to stir them up, Clinton's been trying to stir them up, with pitiful turnout.

Once again, Obama is the more effective leader.

Obama's a fake and a fraud. A snake oil salesman (I help poor people) all the way to the BANK!
Should have let his supporters show up.
It's all with mirrors with the obama crowd.
Obama's 'character'--REZKO trashed low income housing for POOR PEOPLE in his DISTRICT while he BRAGGED about helping same.
When will this end?

Mrs. Clinton is absolutely inspiring on this subject.

As she tells us, she's doing it for the sacred right of voters to decide.

That's the kind of stuff great leaders are made of.

Yes, she is ready to forsake the rule of law effectively, to abandon agreements of only months ago, all in the name of democratic values.

The thinking reminds me precisely of why the U.S. broke international law, abandoned Geneva Conventions, and committed war crimes to bring "democracy" to Iraq.

But then Clinton voted for that, too, didn't she?

Republican playbook, page 3. Florida, 2000. We will intimidate the concerned parties and badger them into giving in to our demands. Thanks, Jim Baker, for another lesson in democracy. I bet the Iraqi Invasion/Occupation was your second born !! Senator Clinton has learned her lessons well !! I hope she remembers to send Baker a thank you card !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.
