Hey swamp, how 'bout an item on the verdict that Saddam must be hanged in 30 days? Brightened up my christmas, that's for sure.

Why do conservatives get such a charge out of killing people? Even if you support the death penalty, which I don't, it seems like it should still be a somber event.

A somber event yes. However, I can understand relief from many as the extermination of this man brings closure on many instances.
Yes, his next in charge will be a terror also, but this mastermind of pain, torture and death will not be part of it.
I don't see that he's getting a "charge" out of it.
If you had been in any of the concentration camps you would better understand his feelings.
