Amtrak customers stood in long lines at Penn Station and other hubs this weekend after computer problems forced the rail system’s employees to write tickets by hand. The technical glitch in Amtrak’s reservation system meant customers could not book tickets on line, over the phone or at station kiosks starting Saturday morning. Amtrak identified a software problem Saturday night and began installing new equipment, which got the Arrow reservation system completely up and running by 1 p.m. Sunday. “This did not in anyway affect train operations,” said Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham.
