As one way to avoid a fare hike, MTA board member Norman Seabrook offered up the 42nd Street stations to Disney. It's just an idea, but Seabrook said the company could rent the stations for several millions and paint them, and possibly the 34th Street spots in any manner it likes. Would enchanted castles and talking mice greet commuters from the walls of the busiest stations in the city? Would a talking candlestick? Seabrook, is hoping the board will come up with another way--other than taxing commuters--to raise cash. He said he told the state Senate that he'd think of innovative ideas when he was appointed to the MTA board. Innovative maybe, but advocacy group Straphanger Campaign spokesman Gene Russianoff said Disneyland doesn't suit the subways.
