Staten Islanders who work in New Jersey will soon zip there on a new bus line that will run to the Hudson Bergen light rail. Commuters can jump on the bus at Hylan Boulevard-Richmond Avenue in Eltingville and also connect to the PATH train to Manhattan. The new S89 Limited route will run during both rush hours--from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Buses will leave every 15 minutes toward New Jersey and every 30 minutes the opposite way. The MTA expects about 1,200 riders will use the service that will cost about $1.4 million a year. The Port Authority chipped in $2 million to help buy nine new buses. Something else for Staten Islanders to look forward to: the MTA and New Jersey Transit are talking about a joint monthly ticket for the bus route and the Hudson Bergen Light Rail.
