Queens Transit

Community groups from throughout Queens will gather April 22 for a legislative forum called “2007 – A Transit Odyssey.”

The event will feature none other than Queens resident and MTA executive director Lee Sander.

“We look forward to a discussion of important issues including buses, subways, LIRR, Access-a-Ride, clean fuels, fair fares, tolls, congestion pricing, said Corey Bearak, a political consultant who chairs the forums.

The participating groups at the Northeast Queens Community Council, the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, UJA-Federation, Metropolitant Council of Jewish Poverty, The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater New York, Queens Civic Congress, Queens Region-Hadassah and The Samuel Field/Bay Terrace Y.

Councilmen John Liu and David Weprin are expected to attend.

Lucky for Lee, all that weekend No. 7 work has been completed. Otherwise he may have gotten an earful.

Still, Lee should expect a lot of concerns from Sunnyside residents over the impact of East Side Access on the neighborhood.
