After the MTA board meeting today, MTA exec director Lee Sander said he’ll be discussing today’s amNewYork story with Barry Kluger, the new agency inspector general.
“I noted that the previous inspector general had reviews this case and it appears as if what we had done was consistent with that review, but I will be discussing this matter with Mr. Kluger probably later today.”
Today’s story centered on how Wallace Gossett, the NYC Transit director of the Tort Division, also volunteers as a fundraiser for the Northside Center for Child Development. And coincidentally, some of the firms with the biggest NYC Transit contracts are also consist donors to Gossett’s charity. At the very least it has the appearance of a conflict of interest.
