Spitzer, TWU and one angry token clerk

Left-wing transit union rabble-rouser Marty Goodman is blasting Roger Toussaint over his endorsement of Eliot Spitzer for governor in his latest newsletter.

Still angry that Spitzer’s office prosecuted the case against TWU Local 100 for its December strike -- in violation of the state Taylor Law -- Goodman railed against the candidate.

“Bottom line: Spitzer helped the MTA bully a mostly Black and Hispanic union, no less so than Michael ‘the thug’ Bloomberg, the MTA and Governor Pataki.”

Goodman, whose politics are purse Moscow circa 1930, didn’t spare any venom for Spitzer’s running mate David Paterson either.

Paterson’s father Basil continues to be a top adviser to the TWU but Goodman has issues with the former state secretary of state’s past.

“The elder Paterson held that high post while Governor Carey slammed Local 100 with Taylor Law fines after our 1980 strike.”

And about David, Goodman wrote:

“Commenting on Spitzer’s running mate, Ralph Poynter, a veteran African-American activist said, ‘David Paterson stands for nothing.’”

Remember, however, Goodman is more than a bomb-throwing token booth clerk. He’s an executive board member who close ties to Toussaint’s opposition.

Marty Goodman needs to realize that his communist views are not consistant with the political views of the Local 100 Membership. In this area, he speaks for no one. Mr. Goodman will not be satisfied until Local 100 endorses Josef Stalin. Why does this guy even make the news at all?
