The real record holder speaks

The news cycle for Subway Challenge Duo may be over.

But the Tracker finally caught up with the Guinness Book of World Records holder for subway riding Kevin Foster aka Captain America. Foster holds the record for stopping in every station along every single line in 26 hours, 21 minutes and 8 seconds back in 1989.

β€œIt seems like these guys are getting a lot of PR for their worthwhile attempt at my 17-year old record. Congratulations to them for a job well done and for coming close,” he e-mailed. β€œ Again, my best to the guys for giving it their all. Perhaps Guinness should reinstate the NY record in their books, thereby letting others knows the stats and going for the record (about 10 years ago they retired the record, taking it out of their books in order to conserve space. I'd like to see it
back in the book, and on the record for others to try).”

Foster added he should be in New York soon to promote his latest charity bike ride to raise cash and awareness for The Smile Train, a Manhattan-based nonprofit that trains Chinese doctors in cleft lip and palate surgery. A worthy cause indeed.
