As of 10 a.m., New Jersey Transit is still experiencing 15 minute delays coming into New York Penn Station due to yet another power outage on Amtrak’s rails. NJ Transit used Amtrak's rail roads.
Service was completely cut down 8:05 a.m. to 8:33 a.m. from a “power fluctuation.” There was enough juice to keep the electricity and air conditioners flowing.
The cause of the fluctuation is under investigation.
UPDATE: As of 10:40 a.m. "NJ TRANSIT trains are now operating on or close to schedule in both directions following earlier Amtrak power problem."
Of course, everyone remembers, the power outage on Amtrak last May 25 that left thousands of commuters stranded. The cause of that outage is still unknown.
