There are 2,245 adminstration employees of New York City Transit. Even though, the agency is being urged to cut costs in the face of a $1 billion budget deficit in 2008, few staff reductions show up on its books.
For it’s February 2006 to 2009 Financial Plan, the TA only plans to reduce its adminstrative staff to 2,220. There will be no reductions in its 299-person law office or 298-person corporate communications office.
At least not for now.
Overall, the TA work force will shrink from 47,767 now to 46,556 in 2009.
