Not to mention, Denise, you forgot that idiot officer who left his K9 in the car to die from heat while he was in his apartment. And to think he was actually in charge of the K9's on top of that.

Not to mention Vick who may walk out of prison a year earlier and right back into an NFL team by 2009! Tell me there is justice in our system for animals - NOT....

How did the grandmother (who was in the kitchen) know that the child touched the dogs paw?

Any idiot knows NOT TO LEAVE A DOG AND A YOUNG CHILD unsupervised.

Poor baby, poor parents and poor pup (probably has no clue what the heck happened and why he is in jail..

I thought I read in Newsday that the parents of the child asked that the doberman be put down. I love how they blame the dog in these situations.

I feel horrible for the family, but that dog should have been placed with a family that would be able to care for it. We have no idea what truly caused that reaction and the dog should not have lost its life because of it.

Its always the dog's fault. Dogs act like dogs. There is a serious lack of accountabilty and responsibility among society today. Unfortunately the baby and dog paid for the lack of supervision by the baby's caretaker. Just like the child that loses his/her life for overdosing on medication in the cabinet. Then its the drug company's fault for not installing a child proof cap.

Geez, you just don't leave a dog and a baby alone together.
Maybe the dog thought it was a toy to play with. Who knows?
I notice this lack of accountability in all walks of life today.
Example - Pedestrians who won't move out of the way of traffic in a mall parking lot but continue to walk down the middle of the road so you have to creep out of the parking lot at a snail's place. Heaven forbid if you should honk at them. You get "the finger" thrust at you or obscenities yelled at you as you drive away. Everybody wants to "sue" and not take any responsibility for their own actions.

Good morning Daddy God. Our world is sinking to lower levels of love and morality every day. We ask you for your strength and an extra dose of your surrounding love and care as we come to you this morning with our hearts in your hands as we cry out to you. We ask you to heal our beloved BJ. Calm her heart and clear her bronchial tubes Daddy God. We ask you to remove all infection and asthma from her. Heal her lungs to perfection, as you made them to be. Help her breathe deep and free of congestion. Bring her blood pressure to normal and cause it to stabalize. Touch her heart, so that it beats smoothly and evenly. Give her rest and help her to relax in perfect well being. Daddy God, provide for her, for she is your child and she needs help Daddy. Give her all the provision that is needed and extra so that she does not feel stressed. We bring Pepper to you Daddy God and we ask that you heal his liver. Cause it to function to the perfection that you created it to function in. Strengthen Pepper's liver and remove all weakness. Make his liver new and whole and strong, as we look to you for your healing grace, for you are the Lord who heals us.
As he improves Daddy God, give him a ravenous appetite and bring his weight back to what it is meant to be. Touch Jackie's heart and give her your comfort and your strength. Surround her with your presence and cause her faith to soar as she looks to you. Surround Pepper with your healing presence and cause him to feel your love, for it is your love that heals and restores us. Fill each and every one of us with your strength and glory. Anoint Nancy's hands and Jackie's hands with your healing glory and each time they touch BJ and Pepper, let your healing power flow into their bodies. Flood us with your Holy Spirit and power and help our faith to grow with each moment. Draw near to us as we draw near to you Daddy God, because you are our Father and we are your children. We love you Daddy God. It is your love that keeps us strong and pulls us through into all victories. In Jesus's name we praise you and lay ourselves completely in your presence. Sustain us and hold us in your arms as you cuddle us close to your heart. We love you Daddy. In Jesus's Name.

Barbara Jean is still there, she said they will keep her until she has a day of stress-free breathing.

She had two recent episodes of asthma, brought on by the odor from pine or cedar bedding for the huge number of horses who suddenly came through the vetport. B-J's asthma is triggered by chemicals in the air such as pine, cedar, fresh road tar, etc. This is why she eventually had to leave her long term, full time job at Parrots of the World.

Both times the paramedics took her to nearby Franklin General Hospital ER where she said , they really did nothing for her and sent her home WITHOUT MEDICATION or even a prescription. There was no way I could have gotten her the inhalers, etc without a script.
I work for Franklin's Home Care and this doesn't surprise me , it's a generally crummy place with some excellent RN's if you're lucky enough to get them. I also didn't know about B-J's little ER adventures until she told me last weekend and asked if I could pick her up after work at the Vetport around 10 PM, She didn't look well at all. She was supposed to have gone to Nassau Country Medical Center clinic earlier in the week. She ended up in SNCH in Oceanside on Monday. South Nassau Communities is a better hospital, I think, than Franklin and maybe the huge county medical center. Our friend David put his O-C disorder to good use and called the hospital over and over, until she was finally seen by a social worker who is applying for a "hospital" medicaid which will take care of this bill and very likely also the two ER episodes and ambulance calls. Once B-J is released she is going to have to get regular community medicaid which will help her with medications and any future ER or hospital costs. She tried to apply on her own twice and said they rejected her app because of errors or whatever. I offered to help her fill one out, I guess I have to get more pesty about it . Hopefully she will have a small nebulizer unit at home to give herself treatments. I'm probably going to see her this weekend again if she is still in there..

Good morning Daddy God. How we thank you for Pepper eating today. We are so grateful. Thank you so much for bringing your healing grace to Pepper and we look to you for continued improvement as you embrace her with your love and healing power. We ask your healing grace for Darlene's ankle. Hold her in your arms Daddy God and help to her to rest and heal. Cause her ankle to heal at a miraculous speed. Bring our beloved Vivi home quickly as we look to you for her speedy deliverance. Help BJ to heal quickly and perfectly. Calm her heart and clear her bronchial tubes of all infection. Continue your healing in Digger, Lucy and Ginger, and give us your peace, strength and love as we rest in your presence and power. In Jesus's name, we praise you!!

Thank you Michael. Ginger is doing fine. The vet said she is healing on her own and we will just keep her on the medicine for a couple of weeks. Thank you all for your prayers.

GO GINGER - That is good news Kay. So glad she will not have to go through that surgery. Now to get these humans and other doggies well too, and to get Vivi and Lexi home.

Thanks Kathleen. Yes we need Vivi and Lexi home and then we can go on to help more of them. Sad to say there are always more in need of our help.

B-J UPDATE FROM NANCY M:

I saw B-J this evening, she looks better and was even laughing without getting short of breath. They started a 30 minute nebulizer treatment on her while I was there. She's expecting to be sprung maybe Monday or Tuesday.

Nancy is so sweet helping B-J along with all the other ladies in NY as well. Another wonderful legacy Vivi has given us during her journey - some incredible friendships and people that care about dogs and each other!

Isn't that just the greatest thing? Friends that love animals.
So glad BJ and Darlene are doing fine.

Everyone, just saw some more Happy Endings news. Remember the three chihuahuas at North Shore without front legs - they now have front legs with their little carts. Here is a video I hope will work for everyone to see. I feel pretty certain Eddie's Wheels made these carts since Bonnie, Nancy and I spent time trying to get them connected to help these babies a good while back.

Aren't they adorable - all three adopted by the same lady who is experienced working with animals. Such a Happy Ending!

I saw the 3 Chihuahuas on ABC's GMA this morning. They are so adorable and really do get around. It was interesting to see them get strapped into those carts and watch them go!
