Celebrating pitbull adoptions

Finally, some good press for pit bulls.

Today, the ASPCA and Animal Farm Foundation announced their "Adopt-a-Bull" Contest, due to launch in February.

Owners of pitbull or pit-type dogs adopted from shelters are eligible to enter, provided they used the the ASPCA's Meet Your Match program -- a research-based adoption tool that matches dogs and adopters.

The contest will run four times through 2008. Each quarterly winner gets a $4,000 grant for the shelter they adopted from, and will be automatically entered into a contest for the grand prize, which will be selected in 2009 via an online public vote.

The grand-prize winner receives an all-expense paid trip to New York City in April 2009 to participate in the ASPCA's third annual ASPCA Day celebration, a $5,000 grant for his or her shelter, a photoshoot with a professional photographer, and a bronze of their pet.

Oh this is great for the pitties! I sure hope Darlene's Luna qualifies for the contest. Of course, I don't think Darlene would need that trip to New York!

Darlene, I think you need to enter this contest!

To the ANONYMOUS blogger who posted this comment below on DEC 7th.....
Your words "FOLLOW THE MONEY" have been a little haunting to me and if you are out there and are reading the blog.. I ask that if YOU know anything that could result in locating Vivi or know for sure she is safe then PLEASE help the rest of us find the same Closure you seem to show in your matter of fact post. Consider the rest of us who have been here for almost 2 yrs worried sick for Vivi. I ask that you find a way to post or share some kind of credible info that you might have. At this point just knowing Vivi is safe with someone would be a MIRACLE!.
Thanks Rosa, as always Viva La Vivi!

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2007 20:59 You're never going to hear about alleged sightings. Follow the money. Whomever took her out of state for hiding needs to bring her back.

Rosa,
I also would like to know if this info. is true and if it is, then it's dognapping and should be pursued. If this person can help to get Vivi back, then I hope he or she has a conscience and will do the right thing. For almost 2 years, we all have been sick with worry over Vivi. I can't even imagine the heartache of her owners and I'm grateful my dog is right here with me. A missing family member, animal or human, changes the family forever and they deserve to have the answer and be reunited with their loved one. It is also the law.

Kathleen - my email to you bounced back.....what's up
