A dollop of good news

Search coordinator Bonnie Folz writes:

<<GOOD NEWS!!

Two of Karin's dogs picked up scent at Mt. Hebron Cemetery and they have confirmed it is Vivi's scent!  Karin is on her way to check the sighting we got in Kew Gardens when we were out with Laura and Sam, which is not far from Mt Hebron cemetery.
Fingers crossed!
Keep the faith!>>

Good and I hope it is our Vivi but I won't be pleased she is out on the streets - not at all. But at least some of this arguing can stop.

Go Karin & your wonderful dogs!! Thank you for giving us some hope again!!

Can we all take a moment???????? Today is November 15th. It has been 9 long hard months since our precious little Vivi started this long adventure and all of us followed her. Can we all say a prayer that she is safe, uninjured, not hungry or thirsty and that she will be found soon. Maybe we can all go to the candle site and light a candle for her too.

Way to go Karin. We knew our girl was still out there. We will not give up on ViVi.

Good idea Kathy

Mt. Hebron Cemetery is adjacent to Flushing Meadows Park. This little rat could be looping again!!! LOL Her pattern is too damn big!

Lisa E.

Lisa,

Is Mt Hebron cemetery in Kew Gardens

I've been kicking something around in my head. If this is Vivi over at Mt. Hebron, that is also close to Peck Park. Supposedly Harry picked up a scent at Diane's house which was supposedly Vivi's leash or collar. What if the scent really was Vivi and not her leash? Maybe Vivi is sneaking around Diane's house because SHE smells a familiar scent and is snooping around trying to find it!!

Just a thought. And, before this is taken out of context, I just want to say that I do not think nor have I ever thought for one single second that the searchers have anything to do whatsoever with any fabricated story of Vivi being "stolen". Those girls have busted their butts out there and the accusations being made against them are shameful. I am in no way implicating Diane in any of this. I am implicating Vivi's nose and Vivi's leash. Maybe it would be a good idea to put one of those cameras at Diane's house to see if there are any hits.

Lisa E.

No one would think Diane capable of absconding with Vivi - but you are right about the scent - and that could very well be it.

Actually, it borders Kew Gardens Hills and Flushing.

The area is loaded with low-rise and mid-rise coop buildings. Kew Gardens is further south and is closer to Forest Park and Richmond Hill. It's about a mile and a half east of Woodhaven Blvd, which was where she was last sighted a few months ago (I think).

Lisa E.

Lisa - isn't it a shame that whenever you say anything you have to make a statement to CYA? So many people take things out of context or "the wrong way" - I knew what you were saying before you had to write your disclaimer. Good idea too

Thanks Lisa.

That's what I (and others, of course) have been trying to say- those scents they MAY have picked up around the searchers homes are possibly a good thing and the conclusion drawn from them was just COMPLETELY faulty. Looked at less boneheadedly, maybe there is something to be learned from that hit back then. Instead of this weird division that seems to break down along the lines of whther we believe some among us have Vivi or we, uh, don't believe that.

Ths a very cool development and I hope we can now move forward.

Thanks Kathy. I really could care less about covering my butt with certain individuals on this board, but it would absolutely break my heart if those girls thought that I even suspected them of any wrongdoing. I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of them personally and the accusations being made against them make me want to puke!

Lisa E.

Anytime, Marty. If you have any other questions, just ask or e-mail me.

Lisa E.

Amen Lisa and Karen. I agree with your points. I'm getting fired up again!! Go foot soldiers!!

I am crying as I read these updates, please VIVI come home to the foot soldiers. It is time for you to go home, please dear God help her find the right person to show her face to and trust. Please dear God let us all focus on the upcoming holidays and be able to send Vivi home to celebrate. This does not mean we will stop helping all the other lost fur creatures, I know I will continue to do my rescuing efforts after Vivi goes home and I am sure the rest of the crew will too, just send this one home. St. Anthony find her and guide her to her safe haven. These amazing people on this blog need to have some good news and lots of it.

Bless all of you foot soldiers and all the trackers, what a GREAT bunch of people on this site.

I just thought of something funny!! Wouldn't it be a wonderful crazy ending to such a crazy nine months if Vivi found the searcher instead of the other way around!!!!! ROFLMAO

Lisa E.

Lisa,

Are those low rise buildings apartments you are talking about? I have a idea for sending flyers and that's why I'm asking.

I'm joining you Lisa E. on that thought!!!

Yes, there are a bunch of garden apartments that are two-three stories high and some mid-rise that are usually about five-seven stories.

Lisa E.

HOOOOORAY!!!!!!! we are getting back on her trail!!! nw, if we don't fall over before finding her, we are in good shape!!!! i knew KARIN could do it!!!! she really knows her stuff ( and I would know running with her dogs). GRRRREAT!!!!! sitting by my cell awaiting "the call." c'mon, Rosa and Tina - call me!!!! come to Karen, Vivi!!!!!

Marty - e-mail me if you need help. Like I said!!
I'm fired up and rarin' to go!!

Okay Pam. thanks

Lisa,

Do you know what street they are on? The reason why I'm asking is when we sent flyers for Ticket to Georgia we did the reverse addresses and sent flyers to every house to different streets around his last sighting. We could get ViVi's flyer right to the people.

Kewi Gardens area looks great from what I've seen on google - now a dog sure could hide around there and not be seen.

Come On find our little girl. All I can say it, it would almost put her by the World's fair & by Kissena again.. The only thing blocking her is the Highway..
But maybe that little Viven found a street to get threw...... Let pray that something gives

It seems like maybe those bigger apartment buildings that have mailrooms could use a little stack of business cards or flyers. These would probably be most effectively hand delivered by people on the ground. Maybe?

Yes Karen I agree.

Karen,

Good idea but they are security buildings and outsiders can't just walk in and out. That being said, however, it might be worth a try to lurk and ring a doorbell or two and tell the tenants why we want to get in (or speak to the doorman for bldgs that have them).

Tara

Yes, it is indeed good news and if they want to put a camera by my house I so GO FOR IT. I have no problem with that - in fact I have the perfect spot that would overlook the front of the house but still be hidden.

Hi Marty,

There are multiple streets. It's a very congested area. I could find out the names of some cooperative complexes in the area and let you know.

Lisa E.

Okay Lisa. Thank you so much.

Thank you Daddy God!!! Lead your army straight to Vivi. Help them Daddy I beseech you in Jesus's name. Bring her home to safety and rescue. You alone are God and we look to you. You have led Karin's dogs to Vivi. Bring this to a close filled with rejoicing and laughter in our hearts. Continue to guide your searchers with your Holy Spirit. Show them the way Daddy. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Bring Vivi to the rescuer you have chosen quickly. TODAY DADDY!! I praise your Holy and Blessed name.

Unfortunately, there are no "mailrooms" that deal with the mail. Just local postal workers. Dara Gardens has a 24-hour security gate, and let me tell you, they are STRICT!! The garden apartments are set up like attached row houses with multiple addresses for each. Some of these complexes have 20 or more buildings associated with them. There really isn't any way to target any one address. Management may help but it is highly unlikely, but you never know.

Lisa E.

Thanks Lisa.

marty - may be around streets in the 70's area. could be - don't know exacts. when Karin's dogs go, they really go!!! you just hang on tight and follow. they could have gone blocks and blocks by now.... those dogs don't mess around - they are some of the best...
karen and mail gang - anyone do the post offices yet?? now, THEY can get into the lobbies if they have the inside mailboxes... god - i wish i knew a mailman over there. they could easily put the fliers in. some of them did when we were at peck park as a favor to us. let me know about the PO's - i can try to get them if you guys can't.

I was thinking we might try emailing the offices of the apartment buildings and asking if they'd be willing to accept flyers if we delivered them or mailed them...You guys have to advise us on what's possible. Thanks for that. We are just guessing. However, I remember when you guys were talking about blanketing College Park (back in the dark ages) and everyone seemed to know just what to do and I was saying I don't know how! Help meeee.
I know how now.

We will wait for the final report to figure out where to go with the flyers.

Sorry, Darlene, I don't mean to correct you, but the 70's are Avenues and Roads. The streets fall into the 130's-150's.

I hate Queens!!! LOL Streets, roads, lanes, places, Avenues, they all have the same damn names but are all located in different areas!!! LOL 70th Street would put you over in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Middle Village!!! ROFLMAO Trust me, I found out the hard way, many times. It could always be worse. She could be in Maspeth where all of the one-way signs are pointing in different directions leaving you without a friggin clue as to which direction you should go, and then to piss you off even more, they throw a cemetery right in the middle of things!!!

OK, I'm done venting about Queens for now!! LOL Forgive me, I'm stressed. Two more days and then I take the big 40 plunge. I'm holding on to 39 as hard as I can!!! LOL

Love ya,
Lisa E.

That's a great ideal Karen.

Lisa E: The big 4-0 is nothing. It's the one after that that's scary. (50!)

I've already begun stocking up in the drug department for that one Pam!! LOL

Lisa E.

40 - 50 - they are what you make them - every age can be good if you make it that way. It helps if you stock up on hair dye tho :)

Yes, the hair dye does help!!LOL

Got that already.LOL BTW, blondes do have more fun!!! LOL Unfortunately, most of the time I look like a skunk turned inside-out!! LOL

Lisa E.

Well, one time I looked like a blonde, frizzy tomato. I had frosted my hair, gotten a perm and then spent a weekend by a lake and got sunburned.
Rather a scary sight for a few days.

OMG!!! I did the same exact thing!!!!! ROFLMAO It's amazing that my hair didn't fall out of my head!!!

I guess you had to love the 80's and the big hair!!

Remember the Stiff Stuff?

Lisa E.

Yes, I do!!

Lisa E - I remember the "stiff stuff." One of our neighbor's wrapped her stiff hairdo in toilet paper at night to keep it in place. Her husband would say he did not know whether to kiss her goodnight or flush her down the toilet!

Such wonderful news about our dear Vivi. Also, so nice to see the full "TEAM VIVI" excited, less stressed and being kind to each other again. Thank you God for such a blessing!

Hooray for Karin and the pups!!!
Candles and big time prayers that our little one will be safely found.
Barbara

Hooray!!! Let me know what I can do to help, Marty. I'm on pins and needles here.

Martha - if you are out there, I tried to e-mail you but it didn't go through. I will try later.

Martha is out here, killing herself laughing a skunk turned inside out!!!!!!!

Such wonderful news. Go Doggies Go and please help bring our little whippet home to CA.

Hello everyone !!! Good news today... Keeping my fingers crossed and you know I'm always keeping the faith ... Lots of candles lit here , also very happy to have Karin back... :)

crap - sorry Lisa - i meant in the 70's road-wise... didn't mean to confuse anyone there....
should have been more specific. but by now - they are still on the move, i'm sure.

I know virtually nothing about tracking dogs, and am curious for anyone who might know... why Laura's and Sam's dogs couldn't "confirm" the Vivi scent they got, but Karin's dogs could? I'm just curious, but couldn't be happier!
This is indeed wonderful news! I feel like we've been waiting for so long for some good Vivi news. While it breaks my heart to think of her still on the streets, at least now we have somewhere to focus on and can still get her home!

I just wanted to set the record straight regarding Diane's location..........
Although Valorie was in that immediate vicinity, she did NOT get Vivi's scent there. I repeat. Valorie did NOT get Vivi's scent anywhere near Diane T.'s home.

Wow, she is one amazing whippet. I think she has broken the mold as far as a sight hound beating all odds!

I hope all of you foot soldiers get some really good leads from Karin when she is done with her search.

Best to all of you, all fingers and paws remain crossed for Vivi!

I have a question, do some of you foot soldiers live pretty near the area they have found her scent?

That would be awesome if she came to one your homes!
I know that is pretty far-fetched, but it would be awesome.

Martha - I think my computer is ill so it might be awhile before I can e-mail you. I'll have to get it checked out.

The reason they said it was not confirmed is that a second dog coming from a different direction did not pick it up when they were here and this time two dogs at different times did.

Karen, thanks for explaining that.

SHOULD HAVE THE FINAL PROOF WITH VIVI'S PICTURE ON IT TOMORROW FROM THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS.

I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I HAVE IT AND MAYBE GAIL CAN PUT IT ON HER WEBSITE SO EVERYONE CAN SEE IT WHO WANTS TOO???

Karen, thanks for explaining how they confirm a scent. I don't know much about tracking except what I see on TV.

I only know from what I've see on Vivi TV. Something like that.. Just one of the couple of million things I have learned from this

Have to agree that a few things have been learned since this odyssey started 9 months ago!

I haven't caught up on the blog yet today, but could they possibly leave her leash out in the yard overnight maybe a few times if she is near searchers' homes? Maybe she will start frequenting the area. I know articles with her scent are precious, but I would think it would be pretty well impregnated in the leather.

Also I have thought maybe someone is walking her through these areas if it is someone who truly does not know who she is. Depending on the type of neighborhood and if it is heavily posted, it is just possible.

What good news her scent is still in the area!!

This is very encouraging news! I haven't been on the blog in a long time, but happened to have a dream around 4:00 this morning that I looked out my front window and saw a whippet sniffing at my mailbox. She had all Vivi's distinctive markings, and some neighbors called out to her, "Lili, Lili!" and she ran to them. When I woke up, I realized, her name's not Lili, that was Vivi! I rarely dream in such vivid color and detail. (The other night when I dreamed about my own whippet, Riley, he was a baby elephant. But in that dream, at least I got the name right...)

Anyway, the dream got me thinking about Vivi, and I thought I would check the blog to see if there's been any progress. It would be great if this search were finally coming to an end.

Just Paul - That is SO BIZARRE! I think you may have been dreaming about Vivi and the dachshund named Lillie I am trying to figure out a way to get to Memphis.

The little girl who was going to adopt her has not shown up, so I have been trying ways to figure this situation out. I had wanted to adopt Lillie too.

The means of getting her from New York to Memphis by my friend, Amanda, fell under. Amanda will probably not be in New York until January.

There is no way I can fly there and try to bring her home, and too far to drive. My last resort, I am going to try contacting the Dachshund Underground Railroad to see if they can help.

Maybe you were dreaming about Lillie in NJ!

Oh Kat, you really need to get Lily to your home.
She is such a doll baby. Hazel is doing fabulous
with my MIL, they bonded immed. I still can foster
her for a bit if someone can get her to you before
X-mas. Keep trying

I am attaching a link that has photographs of the seven stolen show dogs:

http://animalresourcescentral.homestead.com/LostAndFound-PHOTOS.html

Hmmm. Kathleen, there must be a way for you to get a dachshund from NY/NJ to Memphis, especially at Thanksgiving. If you have Craig's List or other personal-type ads in Memphis, or ask around through friends at your church/school/work or bulletin board at the local university, someone must be going home to NY/NJ for Thanksgiving, and coming back to Memphis right afterward, who wouldn't mind carrying a cute little dog on their lap on the plane.

Thanks Just Paul. I'm brainstorming. If there is a way, I will find it. If it is God's Will, it will happen I know.

Thanks for your support and SueG too. I am so happy Hazel is with your mother-in-law. It will do both of them so much good.

Since someone posted their dream, here's what I was picturing about 2 nights ago when trying to meditate on Vivi and get some mental pictures:

a tombstone; an oval shape(maybe with a photograph in it); a baby; blond hair in what we used to call a flip, about shoulder length with sides pulled back tied in a ribbon at back of head (maybe because I read so many Sedona posts!); blouse with standup ruffled neck collar.
a small wooden (foot?) bridge with upward bowed plank floor.

hubcaps, car door opening to view of plush fabric seats, leash, and a purse.

Have you seen anything else, Sedona? I like to read your posts despite others' comments

I don't know Libby. I'm exhausted right now. Just waiting for news on what the trackers found. I thought Vivi was being taken for walks in town and was going to post about it, but decided against it. To me, your dream sounds like something around Queens though, and I wonder if someone was visiting a grave because I too think Vivi is near the cemeteries and I wondered how that could be and also is caught - maybe someone came across her while visiting a tombstone - that sounds plausible.

I JUST THE PROOF AND GAIL IS NOW WORKING ON GETTING IT ON HER WEBSITE. IT ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN LOOKING AT IT YOU CAN EMAIL ME AND I WILL SEND IT TO YOU IN THE MEANTIME..

Yikees! Very bad typing!!

MADISON UPDATE:

Thought I would add some more good news to this blog.

I just called and talked to John (Madison's Dad), and Princess Madison is doing very well. She is looking around and responding to the environment around her much more than before. They also have a new nurse, and she is very good.

Sparky got the last of his sutures out today. When he goes outside, he is running all around and seems fine now. John is going to give him a bath so he can spend more time with them now. So I think Sparky will be just fine!

Now to catch a whippet tonight!

Where is everyone? This is getting tense--no posts for more than 2 hours on the blog. I hope that means good news.

As promised....

Gail set up a link for me for the classified ad proof in The New York Daily News.

Maybe everything is falling into place. I stopped by St. Mary's a bit early before choir tonight, and lit a candle for the search. Today's Psalm is the 23rd, and there's that shepherd theme, I get stuck on every time I think and pray about Vivi. While we often associate this Psalm with sad times-- it really is not. It talks about a Shepherd who will do anything for those who are His own--animals included, and especially Vivi if your consider how long she has survived under trying conditions. The Psalm is, let's face it, associated with funerals,
and after all how many cemeteries has this little girl been in. I'm free associating here, but Mt. Hebron really resonates with me. May I ask a favor.
In praying the Psalm and prayer tonight can you picture Vivi "praying" it. Let's put her in the care of our wonderful Shepherd! Such wonderful news!

Sharon-- A beautiful psalm indeed. I grew up in a new subdivision out in the country--the beginning of sprawl here, and we had a cemetery just across the road that was one of the boundaries of our plat.

I was only 8 yrs old when we moved there, but it was the most beautiful place, and was an historic one for the county too. I have always loved cemeteries they are always so beautiful and peaceful. I never felt they were spooky. It was practically in our backyard and I never had problems sleeping or anything.

I still love them today. There are a couple along the bike paths I ride and I always have to stop and sit or browse in them. Maybe that is why Vivi likes them--always so peaceful and restful and usually beautiful oases in whatever they are in the middle of.

Your idea of sending pictures to Vivi is great. Everyone should do that. I have read a few animal communicator books and they all say animals think in pictures as they do not have language. You should try to get pictures from them too if you want to know their thoughts.

The amazing Temple Grandin has written many books on animals. She is autistic but has gotten a PhD in animal husbandry I think. She says she thinks in pictures which is why she has such an amazing bond with animals. If you love animals, read anything and everything she has written. She is an amazing woman.

Animals in Translation: Using the Mysteries of Autism to Decode animal Behavior
is one of her great books.

The Lord, Shepherd and Host
(A psalm of David)
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd;
there is nothing I lack.
In green pastures you let me graze;
to safe waters you lead me;
you restore my strength.
You guide me along the right path
for the sake of your name.
Even when I walk through a dark valley,
I fear no harm for you are at my side;
your rod and staff give me courage.

Father, Creator, Great Shepherd, You have taken such wonderful care of our Vivi. She lacks nothing,
You let her chase squirrels and wild life in open meadows and parks. She finds water to drink. You help her find places to sleep, and even if that is in a cemetary, You let her feel Your presence. Lead her in a right path to one of the volunteers. Guide her on the way home to Rick and Jil. Give the same guidance to all the lost ones including Tarik, Ticket, Bowdee, Sniffles... Take special care of the show dogs that were stolen. See that they are cared for, and give the thiefs a great burden of guilt and sleeplessness so they will return them. (Just a suggestion, Father, You know me, and I know You will come up with the best solution.) We lift these and all of our prayers to You in confidence...

We pray this night,Father, that You continue Your watch over Vivi,Zoey,Vern,Bowdee,Ticket,Tarik, Butttons,Biggie,Sniffles,Holly, African Grey, Faithful (the little girl's seizure dog),Shimi, Yorkie, Black Afghan, Buddy, Rags, Precious, Whippet Annie, so that not even “one paw slips”.
