Vivi volunteer Darlene O'Sullivan checks in with this report on one of the "Vivi puppies" rescued from the Queens cemetery where she and her littermates were born:
"Here's one of the cemetery pups with me. Her name is TYSON," Darlene says via email. "This was taken about two weeks ago at her owners Wendy and Paul's house.
"I thought maybe the bloggers would like to see how beautiful, big, and happy she is!"

What great pictures! Thanks Darlene for keeping us updated on Tyson, I just can't beleive all the wonderful happy endings to all the stray's that have been helped cause of Vivi, and the wonderful job of the foot soldiers!! You guy's Rock!!
Rosa
Wow Darlene, you sure look different! Your hair is not wet and it actually looks blonde! You look just so fabulous and lovely (esp holding that beautiful little miss in your arms)and not so windblown!
Do you know how the other cemetary puppies are doing? Hopefully they are as wonderful as Tyson is and just as loved as she is. Loved by your neighbors Wendy and Paul and the auntie who lives next door-why you of course!
Okay now Darlene, what is with the raccoon tail on Tyson? So cute! Could one of the fathers have been a raccoon along the way?
She is so beautiful (and so are you - inside and outside)! Why did you cut off that fireman hunk of yours though? He should get some publicity after putting up with the Vivi zoo. What a wonderful man he is.
Hey, what kind of beer is Darlene drinking? I see a bottle on the table, but can't read the label..Is she being true to her brand of brew?
You do look fab-u-lusssssssssss Darlene. I know your my long lost kid! Call mom! hehe heh
you guys are giving me a big head over here!!!! isn't she just beautiful?? if you zoom in, i am drinking my loyal beer - BUD LIGHT :) te Budweiser up front is Daddy Paul's. John was busy reading a magazine on hot rods - hmm.. how unusual!!!
and Tyson doesn't have the tail, kathleen - it's mine!!!!! hee....
Ohhhh, is that Tyson's start of a Halloween costume perhaps?
hee!!!!! i'm sure wendy will think of something - she's very creative!!! she just adores "her girl". Tyson loves it when she calls her that and comes running, ears bouncing up and down.... priceless. she's one lucky lass!!!! she rules her brothers with an iron womanly fist too :) not an easy accomplishment when you consider 2 of her 3 brothers are st. bernards... now, that's guts!!!!
Hey Darlene - What is that saying - "The bigger they are, the harder they fall!" Those Bernards are just overgrown big babies! I bet they think she is the "cat's meow" around there - or should it be the "dog's bark?"
Oh, Darlene, tell Wendy should should dress Tyson up like a Tombstone and put a big poster of Vivi on the front. Tyson could be a walking billboard for Vivi while they Trick or Treat!
Could even put a recording around Tyson's neck and maybe put Jil's Vivi call on there just in case Vivi is around! Maybe Vivi would come join in all the fun that way.
that;s for sure!!! she attacks, they roll over on their backs and the world is her oyster. feisty little heffer, isn't she?? debbie just emailed me also - she is definately taking Duke to his new home after work!!!! her mom even donated to the new owner, who by the way is SOOOO excited, to buy him new toys for his house warming!!! isn't that the greatest ever????? i knew the name Duke was lucky!!! now debbie's mom is part of the weenie crew - God help her!!!!
ha!!!!! that would be a good one. good luck to her getting into that bunch: 2 saints, 1 golden, 1 cat, 1 ferret, and our Tyson....
quite the crew over there!!!!
Now for Pablo a good home. Someone out there please adopt this sweet boy.
If he is not adopted, I just may be asking someone in New York to meet me half-way with two dogs - Pablo AND Pixie! (Hint, hint, Darlene!)
Pablo MUST have a wonderful forever home and be spoiled like my Tinkerbell. Pixie too. Maybe Pablo's possible home tomorrow will work out. I sure hope so for this baby.
This was just posted on another of my lists - if there are any Vivi bloggers in the Columbus, Ohio area, please keep a look out for this greyhound baby:
Elmer, an eight year-old male blue brindle, has been lost since
Thursday,
October 5. He went missing in the Hunter's Ridge subdivision of
Gahanna,
Ohio (Columbus area). On Wednesday, he was sighted around Harmony
drive and
around the Middle School (South) here in Gahanna. There have been no
sightings since. Flyers have been put up, and the owners, Teresa and
Andy
Prociuk, have been out looking, but they could use some help,
particularly
now that the weather has turned. The Prociuks' home number is
614-471-8962;
Andy's cell phone number is 614-256-2731 and Teresa's cell phone number
is
614-471-8962.
Oh my God Tyson is so beautiful Darlene.:) She sure looks happy. Hope Duke does as well. I here it's a great home. We will be leaving soon I think. I just got him some more pressed rawhides to keep him busy and Chillie said he could take the toys and ball. She reaaly likes Duke.
B-J - That is sweet of Chillie to share with Duke. Just like the Mommy!
Give Duke a big hug and kiss for us, and tell that sweet guy to have a wonderful and happy forever life in his new home - but to keep in touch with all of us please.
Kathy, I lit a candle for Elmer and also put a lot of information on the site..Its under Elmer. Poor guy, I hope they find him soon! I have never heard of so many sight hounds getting out in my life! /0;
B.J. You are an angel like the rest of the gals who are working so hard to find Vivi. I hope little Duke lives happily ever after!
Don't forget about little Duke... www.SaveDuke.homestead.com/

Update on Skeeter - he will be having the tumor and his spleen removed on Monday. The surgeon feels he has every chance that anyone would have at surgery. His blood tests, his x-rays and all indicate he should not have a problem. The Vets statement to us was "If he were my dog I would do the surgery, it is so much better than the alternative". We feel good about our decision to go forward. Please continue to send prayers for us and light a few candle for our Skeety man. Thanks so much.
Keeping the Faith for VIVI and now Skeeter in TX
Cherita one of my neighbors dogs had a huge tumor and her spleen removed at age 14. Opperation was successful and she lived to age 19 without complications. Wishing you and Skeeter many more years together. Prayer for uncomplicated surgery and a quick recovery.
Speedy recovery for little Skeeter! I've been lighting candles for him every day and saying prayers!
Valerie, Dante, Trotter and Zipper are coming to visit me either Monday or Tuesday! We can hardly wait! (0:
It was so beautiful. We arrived and Kathy (mom+ nad Bridgette (daughter) came right out to meet Duke. The are some sad memories attached to the pet mane Duke so they are calling him Murphy. As we entered four of the five resident cats who have never seen a dog came to see who this new comer was. Murphy nosed the first and just went by him. Thay all were kind of fat and softly hissing like they weren't sure they should be upset or not. It was like they all knew this was suposed to be. It was actually pretty awesome. Duke did jump at gently in play with them and one he chased a little under the table and she swtted at him and he left it alone. Then he went to meet Jerry (dad) and we think these two are going to be the best of pals. He was very interested in Jerry and the dish washer Jerry was emptying. Then Bridgette took Duke for a little walk and when they came back Duke sat for pics and then got a nice filled bone to chew. We catted about Murphy and what they should expect and fitting in and care and such. Exchanged emails and phone numbers. We can visit.:) It was meant tot be I am sure as it went so well, Murphy never looked back and it just felt so right. You could tell they all loved him so much already. I thought I would cry but not a tear was shed. A little lump when I said goodbye. And now typing this beautiful story. He. in in a home filled with love and especially for animals. He looked so happy. What a great transition for Murphy.
The funniest thing though is after I posted that Chillie said Duke could have her toys and ball; I went to get them together after I walked Duke and I could not find the ball. Chillie does like the ball and I think she hid it. lol So Murphy will have to get his own. lol
Thank you Debbie for forwarding all the information and pictures to Bridgette so she could show them to Mom and Dad. This is the best of the Vivi experience for me thus far.:)
Okay I see the typos, I am very tired but had to let you all know how it went. It was good.:)
Great story BJ! Seems like Duke/Murphy will live happily ever after! Another good rescue day and placement! Thank you vivi, now where are you?
Lord thank you for Rosa and Tine who have been your main tool with all these rescues. With them and the Vivi Team near and far this was all made possible because of one wiley whippet "Vivi". Thank you Lord for all the good this adventure has reaped. We ask in Jesus's name that this story comes to the happy reunion of "Vivi, Jil and Rick". Amen
Good Morning Bloggers, Just wanted to let you all
know that Elmer the greyhound from Ohio came home
last night on his own. He was whining at the door.
Great News! Now if we could just hear some good
news about Vivi.
Oh my! Good prayers and another happy ending. Waaaahoooo for Elmer!! Wonderful way to start the day. Sue, you are a doll to let us know that this boy is safely home.
Thank you B-J for the special report on Murphy/Duke and his introduction to his new family. He is a very special boy and his new family are blessed.
Good work ladies!
Now there's a story in itself. A Greyhound goes home on his own. Wonder how many of them have dome this> Praise the Lord for Elmer's good sense.:) This is such good news.:)
I think my brain is fried. lol Better start previewing. ugh
I saw on the news a week or so ago, a GSD who had been hit by a car and walked on 3 legs to a ER at a human hospital! He sat in the waiting room until someone helped him. They said he was going to have surgery at at vet hospital. Smart boy!
That is an amazing story. There was an interesting story on our local news last night.
It seems a black lab gave birth to 13 puppies on Friday the 13th, and her family thought she had be "fixed." They had no idea she was pregnant it seems.
What a shock! Mother dog was beautiful and all the puppies looked beautiful too - very healthy.

MADISON UPDATE: Could I ask for very special prayers and candles for Madison for Monday? She will be having this trach removed. Please ask the Lord to be with she and Gina during this scary time. Thank you.
--------------------
October 14
Things have been pretty uneventful. Madison started to get sick, but knowing she had her procedure on Monday I took her right in to the doctor. They gave her two days of rocephin shots and she's nice and clear again. I caught it early.
We had Madison's pre-op appointment yesterday and we are all set to go on Monday! Please keep us in your prayers that everything goes smoothly and she does not have any complications.
Other than that, there is not much to report. I figured a short report was better than no report though. I will take my laptop to the hospital so I can update everyone. Maybe I can even send pictures!
B+ for Madison
PLEASE check out this website. There are so many wonderful stories and causes we can help with on this website.
Make yourself a bookmark and keep in touch with these please! It is a great site.

NEW YORK A champion cat was not exactly gracious about his win: He bolted for 14 hours.
Evgeny Plushenko, named after the Olympic gold medal-winning Russian figure skater, jumped from a judge's arms after being named best of its breed at the Cat Fanciers' Association Cat annual show. He beat out 200 other felines at the Madison Square Garden event on Sunday.
The "Best in Show" Russian Blue with emerald eyes was found Monday, after 14 hours, huddled in a carpenter's room.
"They love small spaces and can fit themselves into areas that you would not believe could make a cat feel comfortable," the association's Web site explains.
The 15-month-old bolted after one judge handed him to another.
Apparently, this member of a breed — called "clever and extremely agile" by the association — did not fall for traps baited with the best cat food. Instead, he found a hole in the wall under the stands and slipped into the workroom.
When found, Evgeny Plushenko was tired and thirsty, but fine.
His story has a happier ending than that of Vivi, a show dog that bolted from her crate at Kennedy Airport in February after competing at the Westminster Kennel Club show. The beloved whippet is still missing.

Thank you all for the congrats.:) You've all been so supportive and wonderful to me through this. I just know this was all meant to be so we could find each other and work together on the issues of animal abuse, loss and rescue We have Vivi to thank as the Lord's tool for it all. I sure hope we can get her home soon.
Does anyone locally know what search efforts are still continuing? Does anyone know if we are getting closer to bringing Laura or Sam out to Rego Park? Any scent is getting old.
Elizabeth -
When I asked Bonnie last week, she said they were still having trouble getting Laura and Sam in because of schedule conflicts. She felt within the next two weeks maybe they could come though. She is working very hard on getting them here as soon as possible though.
Oh, left out one more person too. I believe she mentioned Laura, Sam and Karin. Surely one can come soon.
What about the retired tracker that lives in NY or NJ that offered her services? Does anyone know if she was contacted? If I remember correctly she would do it for free.
In peace we will lie down and sleep; for you alone, Lord, make us dwell in safety.
Abide with us, Lord-Father, Son, and Spirit,
for the night is at hand and the day is now past.
As the night watch looks for the morning,
So do we look for you, O God.
[Come with the dawning of the day
and make yourself known in the breaking of the bread.]
The Lord bless us and watch over us;
the Lord make his face shine upon us and be gracious to us;
the Lord look kindly on us and give us peace.
Amen

Just an idle thought that I wanted to share with this blog...I've been thinking that if Vivi did have puppies and gave birth to them in the abandoned house shown on Gail's site, how would she get them out of there. Has anyone listened for puppy whimpers or put sand down to get footprints at the entry point? I'm sure the wonderful searchers have tried everything I'm asking about. It's just that not hearing any news for a while makes us long distance people get a little freaky.

I want to know what places to send flyers and instructions to. I can e-mail or fax, but don't want to duplicate areas. Anything to get Vivi home before the cold sets in.
Susan - contact Diane Tamm. The flyers can be mailed to her. They are creating a new flyer so there will 2 different ones possibly today.
The e-mail or fax send a note to Karen (VA) and she will get you in touch with the lady that puts together the lists.
Keeping the faith for Skeeter and Vivi in TX
Thanks, Cherita. I will wait for the new flyer to be posted and I had contacted Karen so I'm sure I'll get a list soon.
