That elusive virtue

Vivi's breeder, Bo Bengtson, counsels patience.

<<UPDATE TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2006

One of the best advisers in the first weeks of Vivi’s disappearance was Michael McMann of Greyhound Amber Alert. He has more experience of retrieving lost Greyhounds than anyone else I know of. Michael was busy with other rescues at the time, but I contacted him again in a last-ditch effort to find some solution or suggestion we have overlooked that could help us get Vivi back.

Following are parts of Michael’s email, which he has allowed me to share:

I have no idea how many searches I  have personally participated in. I would guess that it's over a hundred. Of those, all but five have been found. I really don't know, but maybe about 20 or 30 of those I captured myself. In October 2004, Jeff Rosenberg, owner of Greytalk.com, asked me to moderate a new forum, The Greyhound Amber Alert. Since then we've been able to help over 280 families and adoption groups organize searches and captures of lost or loose hounds. We haven't always been successful. By my count, 204 have been captured, 36 have been found dead, and 43 are still unfound.

Believe me, I know how frustrating this is. I have had some success, but not because of any special skill, but only because I don't give up easily. Vivi just needs someone not willing to give up. I don't think my camping out down there will increase your chances much. What you need are thousands of sets of eyes. The flyers and the volunteers are already providing that. It's just a matter of time before a sighting and a volunteer come together at the right time and place.

The Greyhounds I've captured in the past have usually settled into a territory. They stay within a mile or so from the center of it, and usually keep to a pretty set routine, especially once they find a regular source of food. The hardest part of this thing is to get Vivi into a routine. Since she's trap shy, we would have to be able to get close to her to catch her. In order to do that we have to get her coming back to the same location daily.

As for the reported sightings: I've been hunting loose characters like this for a long time. One thing I've learned over that time is to check out every single sighting, but be suspicious of all of them, unless you get a confirmed sighting from someone who knows hounds. People are always willing to help, but they will report anything that looks vaguely like a hound. Just a couple of weeks ago I drove forty miles on a "confirmed sighting" by a local lady, just to find her new neighbor's Great Dane.

Whippets and Greyhounds have been bred for centuries to be survivors. They are very fast, extremely cunning,  and within hours of being on the run, they are feral. Capturing a hound who can run over forty miles an hour and doesn't want to be caught is not easy: you have to have committed volunteers, helpful neighbors, and most of all, a little luck. From what I have seen and heard, I can tell you that you have all the elements of a successful search in place. All you need is the last one, a bit of luck.

I have spent months at a time trying to capture elusive hounds like Vivi. In 2004-05 I spent 13 weekends in Bennington, Vermont, trying to capture a shy, spooky female named Cavan. She spent a total of seven months living through a frigid winter before she was struck by a car. She survived and lives with me now along with three other hounds, all runaways, that have ended up with us. Our oldest, 13-year old Barney, had been living on his own for a year before we captured him. I've always tried to make these searches group efforts, and it's really more important that the dog be found than personally catching him/her. I have written articles about finding and capturing lost Greyhounds for Celebrating Greyhounds magazine, as well as many adoption group newsletters.

A couple of my articles, along with a lot of other helpful information can be found at the top of the Greyhound Amber Alert Forum:
<http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showforum=24>

Thanks, Michael. Obviously the biggest problem is that Vivi is NOT coming back to the same place to eat, and the fact that there are many places where she can find food means that it has not been possible to establish a “feeding station” for her, and also that she is not likely to go into a trap.

As Michael says, what we need is luck, and that can take a very long time to kick in. It’s very difficult to have enough patience.

Thank you Bo and do NOT lose hope.

Thanks Bo. Well, you certainly have the right group of volunteers on the ground for the 1st part of that recipie. They are tenacious and do not/have not given up hope. They are amazing people to have on your side. I'd call in Team Vivi in a heartbeat if I ever, lost my whippet.

As an owner of an Afghan Hound, I can totally sympathize with your plight. I'm hysterical if my guy is gone for an hour! I cannot imagine having to wait this long to be re-united. But having experienced "escapes" from all the Afghans I have owned over the years, it's nice to see that many people truly understand the difference there is in trying to "capture" any of the Sight Hound breeds. Wonderful creatures, but the free-thinkers that they are can make them frustrating.

I check back here every week, hoping that one day I'll see she's made it back to you. Course, I'll probably hear about it on the news first!

Thinking of you all back here in SoCal, and wishing you luck.

Thanks for the update. If hope, prayer, hardwork, and, yes, PATIENCE, have anything to do with it Vivi will go home to California. You have a very dedicated and talented group of NYC animal lovers working the area for you, and much quieter help from throughout the U.S.who support her return. Other than getting Vivi home soon, you couldn't be more blessed than that!

In addition to the flyers, have you been able to have the local TV stations report on the search periodically? Maybe just getting her picture into thousands of homes would help. I don't know how 'newsworthy' the TV news departments would consider this search, but consideing its duration and the fact that you recieve suggestions and support nationwide, that might give the News folks a reason to provide a little periodic coverage.

Dear Bo, Our patience is certainly being tested with this Vivi girl, thank you for keeping us posted, our hearts and prayers go out to you and all of Vivi's family. I went to the hair dresser today, it's been about two months since my last haircut, two people ask me if that dog I was worried about was ever found, you know my reply, but I think it's interesting they remembered, strangers can care. After all wasn't it Mea West who Alway's depended on the kindness of strangers...

SIGNS OF AN ANIMAL HOARDER

Hoarders are most often older women who live alone.

Hoarders typically have no support network of family or friends.

Hoarders are tyically on disability, retired or unemployed.

While hoarders profess their love for animals, hoarding is not about love but about control.

Hoarding is considered a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Hoarders are mentally ill.

Hoarders are usually in a state of complete denial; they do not see the destruction they cause.

Hoarding is defined not by the numbers of animals, but by the way they are kept.

Hoarders put their personal and community health at risk.

Hoarders fail to provide even minimal standards of care or sanitation. Homes of hoarders are usually in such filthy condition that the premises have to be destroyed.

Even if convicted of hoarding, hoarders are usually able to move and begin the cycle again. There is almost a 100% rate of repetition.

Lillie,
My students helped make posters just before Easter. There isn't a day that goes by that they don't ask me if I've heard anything about Vivi. They're hoping "we" find her before school gets out so they know what happens. (I told them I'm sure we'd know, but that I'd get their e-mails just in case.) See- Even kids from far away want to know about the little girl. Not bragging or anything-- not much, but our NHS raised over $2,000 in money and supplies for the local humane society. Animals do matter to teens.

Can't Ignore Truth:

If you really "care" so much about animal hoarding, here is a suggestion for you. Why don't you contact the The Humane Society of Harford
County, Maryland at http://www.harfordshelter.org. They are struggling to care for 73 animals rescued from a bona fide hoarder (the Whiteford animal cruelty case). Put your $$$ where your mouth is and send them a check! Or are you just posting your "truth" out of the MEANNESS of your heart and trying to put someone else down?

Tara from LI

School will be out soon and many children will be out and about....hopefully some child will see VIVI and you will have her back. More eyes....that's what it will take. Good Luck!

Wow! Speaking of http://www.harfordshelter.org everyone go there and click on the banner at the top entitled "Media Release: 69 Dogs in Whiteford Animal Cruelty Case." Scroll down after the media release and you will see an amazing "before and after" story and picture about one of the dogs. What a difference!

O holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints, your love for God and charity for his creatures made you worthy while on earth to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, We ask you to return Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles to their "parents". The answer to our prayers may require a miracle; even so, you are the saint of miracles. O gentle and loving Saint Anthony, the gratitunde of our hearts will always be yours.

Creator God, We ask the help of St.Francis, and St.
Anthony not out of superstition, and not because we cannot come to you. We ask because we feel a sense of unity with these saints of yours who loved animals the way that we do.They inspire us to do what you haved called us to do. Gentle Shepherd guide Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles to safe shelter, safe food, and safe water. Let them find a kind person they can trust who will bring them home. Shine Your moon and stars to light their way.Thank you for the healing taking place in Susan, Madison,
Baby Girl, and Nell, Dante, and Murphy. Greet with love all travellers who will join you tonight. Do not lose us, grant us a place with you, (and our companion animals) when our journey is over. Thank You for the encouragement you've given us today, help us to keep hoping. Let this experience cause our faith in You to grow, no matter what the tradition, or expression. Send Your great saints and angels to support and protect the workers who have dared to be Your hands and feet in New York.
Thank you for the help you've given Vivi, and all the homeless to help them survive. Let them sleep peacefully in the warmth of Your loving gaze. Let us sleep well, too-knowing YOU ARE IN CHARGE!
Amen!

Bo: I so thank you for the update and the info and thoughts. Please know that we are here so with you, and the family and those heartfelt volunteers in NYC... there is not a day that goes by, or a minute, that I don't think of Vivi and all of you. I do what I can from CA. Thank you, Bo! Marnie in CA, Always Keepin the Faith! California Girls Always Come Home!!!!

Thanks Bo for the update. I for one will never give up until she is found. I'm sure there are others like me. We really do care.

People say these for Barbara Jean and Yoda- (I quickly "borrowed" this from a Liturgy for Sick Animals)

Healing and transforming God, your love knows no boundaries, and in your sight every life is precious; look with compassion on Yoda and make us your agents of healing in a broken world. Amen.

God of the universe, be present with this your creature. Bless Yoda and Barbara Jean who cares for him, now and always. Amen.

Another one Belcher from California. What fun. We like to mess with you. Have you had your meds today? Now we make hay. Another belcher. Belch. Burp. Fart. You stink. What meds you one big fat one? Taken any meds today. Fart Belch Burp.

Idiot Central, your name really fits you. You
are a total idiot, that last post really shows your
intelligence. Why don't you take your little college ass somewhere else where someone might care.
We certainly dont. Hey how about MY SPACE, you
can even show off your body in pics, as if someone
would care. Get a life, and go away. You are
beginning to bore all of us

Cynthia, it was alot more fun when you were collecting and analyzing dreams on your own thread. True, not everyone was nice to you then but you had alot of fans. Wasn't that more fun? And it seemed to provide a few people with some kind of comfort. Why don't you cut this out and go back to that? Thanks.

Bo,

Please be assured that although Vivi has been gone since February, she is still "top of mind" for us volunteers, even for those of us who can no longer actively participate in Vivi stakeouts. We do need luck. But I think, one of these days we will get lucky. You will get her back. I just know it. Keep the faith.

For Vivi-
Creator of Heaven and Earth and all living creatures we raise in confidence a prayer for "our" Vivi. We feel she has reached a turning point, and may be heading into unsafe territory, Let her find a person to trust a person who will take her to safety and home. Vivi's angels would be a good choice, but we're not telling you who to send her to, just help her find someone who loves You and who loves animals. Your human hands and feet in New York are now carrying St. Francis',and St. Anthony, medals or cards with them. They are doing this to honor and acknowledge You Almighty Father, and to pay tribute to our human brothers Anthony and Francis who honored You through Your amazing animals. We thank You for sending us the miracle we have been waiting for. We thank You for keeping Vivi safe for us. Author of Creation bring this story to its happy ending. Lead Vivi to one who is Your physical presence on Earth. Bring her home to us, We ask this in confidence in Your name, and in the name of Your compassionate Son, Jesus. All is in Your Hands Father, YOU ARE IN CHARGE! AMEN!!
(Please add an Our Father, or a prayer of Your faith, to praise and Thank God.)

Trying to think positive... if any sightings were Vivi near JFK where she started from... maybe it's a good sign in that she's wanting to come home. Good luck and prayers to all the foot soldiers.

Gentle Shepherd, Loving Father hold Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles in your loving and protective embrace.
Let Your starlight and moonlight remind them of their own creation at Your hands. Put their wandering feet on the path to home and a loving searcher who will help them find their way. Thank you for the healing taking place in Susan, Baby Girl, and Madison. Thank you for the healing taking place in Nell, Dante, and Murphy. Comfort and sing to Your baby Yoda, until it is time for him to come to You. Let great St. Francis lead him on his journey when the time is right. Comfort, and heal and rejoice all those human and animal who will make the journey to Paradise this night. When it is our time, do not lose us gentle Father, but rejoice in our prodigal steps, and reunite us with the animals that have meant so much in our lifetime. Help us to recognize the fragility of the gift of Life and love You even more for its marked number of days. Let this experience make our faith in You grow even stronger, as we turn our hopes and fears over to You. Bless and Protect Vivi's angels in their compassionate service to You, and to Your creation. Send great saints Anthony, and Francis, and a host of angels to support their work. There are many candles burning tonight to thank You for Your goodness to us. Let us sleep peacefully knowing YOU ARE IN CHARGE! AMEN!

IMPORTANT!!! Please stop and say this prayer throughout your day. There is something good going on in New York, and we need your focus and support!

Sharon thank you for guiding us along with this wonderful prayer! "Vivi la Vivi" amen! Rosa

I have to share a story about my friend's greyhound that got loose last week...

My friend adopted a greyhound (this is the greyhound that had basically lived the first two years of his life in a crate). They recently moved (about two weeks after adopting the dog). Needless to say, the dog was anxious and confused being in a new home...

The back door was left open a crack. The dog bolted. He ran for about 20 minutes through the neighborhoods of south Minneapolis. My friend's husband and daughter were running through the streets (my friend was actually in Michigan at the time-thank God, she would have had heart failure if she knew what had happened).

They followed him, they cut through neighbors' back yards, across streets... He would let them get fairly close and then he would bolt.

Finally, the dog had to stop to go to the bathroom. While he was squatting, they tackled him. Needless to say, my friend gave her husband and daughter one heck of a talking-to about keeping the doors closed.

Great story Lois. My male Whippet got out on his first Halloween, a group of neighbors grabbed him.
His second outing was just last year when my son didn't watch when he opened the front door. The dog got out, but came right back to us when my daughter called him. We were lucky!
You should be getting mail from me anytime now.( o:
MaryL-California

I have a question for those of you with Whippets and Greyhounds. Are they hard to train on recall? Why do they all seem to want to run out the door? I'm the alpha, my springer backs up at the door and I go out first. This is just a general question, not directed to anyone derogatory.

The three o'clock hour is considered by most major faith traditions to be a sacred time. In the Christian religion it is because that is considered the hour that Jesus died. Please use this time to pray for Vivi, too.

Three days after I got my first greyhound, she bolted out the door as I was bringing in groceries - took me 2 hours to catch her - one to chase her into a neighbors backyard and one to chase her from corner to corner to corner. I attribute that to her not knowing me as her pack leader at the time. Now, all five of my dogs will run to the car if I happen to leave the door open long enough for them to dash out (they love to go bye bye). I don't routinely let them do this as I do not trust them to always run to the car. With sighthounds, and I'm sure with other breeds also, if they see something that catches their interest, they are off to check it out. Once they get their interest picked, they lose all abilities to hear you call them. I NEVER have my pups off leash - not only for their safety, but for my peace of mine - years ago I had a puppy dash across the street to my husband only to bury it later that evening after being hit by a car. I learned my lesson quickly. I would think with training, they could be taught to come on call. Mine will come when called but I don't give them the chance to be off leash and called.

My Samoyed is never off the leash. I had a heart stopping moment when we were at the dog park in Washington Sq. Park and some idiot who "just wanted to come in and see the dogs" left both gates open and my guy ran out and took off toward Fifth Ave. Luckily it was mid-summer and there were alot of people out. A really nice young couple were able to grab him by his collar as he ran by. Eventhough that was about 3 years ago I've never let him loose in the dog park. It just makes me too worried.

My dog Ramsey "Chow" is always on leash. He has a strong predator nature and if he sees a squirrel, cat etc he will chase. He obeys until that "animal hunter nature" kicks in. I do not trust him when it comes to critters. At the beach around people he is fine, just as long as were away from streets. I feel calmer and he is still with us.

Sitehounds are breed to chase small furry creatures and even a whippet with good recall you can never trust them 100% because the chase instinct is always there. That's why they shouldn't be let off lead unless in a safe or fenced area. I train my whippets not to go out my front door... mine will stay if I tell them too. Even still I'll hold on to their collars if I have the door open for any reason just in case. The difference with sitehounds is, if they see something outside that sets of their chase instinct they can be off and running and no amount of calling their name or yelling will stop them once they're off... at least in the Whippets I have had.
I had one Whippet that I obedience trained... he even got his CD in obedience. I would let him off lead only in safe areas and he was good at minding me and great at recall most of the time. The expectation was if he saw a squirrel or critter he wanted to chase. Once the critter was running and my Whippet was off and running he was completely deaf to my voice once the chase was on.

Maybe that's the difference with a hunting dog. She can be off lead although only if we are at a park where there is no traffic. She'll only go so many feet ahead of me and than stop and wait for me to catch up. I never trust her around water off lead unless I don't get if she goes for a swim. That's the one thing she will make a beeline for.

My Whippets are never off leash except in the back-yard that has a 6' fence. They'd end up like Vivi, running and running. The female is shy so it would be worse with her. Sometimes, to get the female to come to me when I call her, I'll turn, say, "Ok
goodbye" and start into the house and she comes running.
MaryL-california

When I hike with my Whippets I let them off lead in a particular place I know is safe and no cars. Mine will walk a few feet ahead of me and then stop and wait for me too... sometimes I'll call their names and tell them wait when they are getting start getting too far away.
I don't know if I'm right but I think of hunting dogs as being breed to work with people as a team in the hunt. Is this right?
I think maybe the difference in sitehounds is they are breed to work independently in chasing and coursing rabbits. They spot things on site and the movement brings on the instinct to chase. When they are chasing something they block out everything and are only focused on the thing they're chasing. They are running at such high speeds and don't pay attention to anything else around them. That's why mine have run into things and got hurt so many times.

Hey my fellow bloggers, I took Nell to the vet
today for bloodwork, and she has gotten worse. Her
RBC went down again, so I am just going to enjoy
the time I have with her and keep her going as long
as I can. I am devastated to say the least becaue
I was hoping for a miracle. I guess I was put on
this earth to love dogs for a short time and then
let them go the the bridge. I have yet to have
a sighthound die of old age. 2 Greys to Osteo, and
now a whippet to bone marrow cancer. Will I get
another whippet, you bet your ass I will !! I will
rescue yet another needle nose when the time comes.

Praying for good news this weekend for our
little VIVI

God Bless

Sue - My prayers and thoughts are with you and your precious Nell - God Bless both of you - Great big hugs to you and Nell also

MaryL's way of calling a dog who doesn't want to come is the way to do it. You turn your back on them and walk away, they come, you walk towards them they leave. In training in an agility ring which is always off leash if a dog takes off (running around an enclosed space) that works almost every time. OK Bye, and you start walking out. They stop- and look, then "wait for me!" Then when they get to you you make a big deal out of them coming, just like that was just what you wanted, even if you are saying bad words in a sweet high-pitched voice.

Sue,

Sorry to hear about Nell. Enjoy the time left. Be at peace with her. If your peacefull she will be peacefull. Remember no matter what her spirit will always be with you. My prayers are with you.

Karen:
I'm amazed that I'm doing something right with my dogs..lol..A trainer I'm not. My female was really independent and yet she's spooky with new things.
My only salvation was seeing that telling her I was leaving worked..Earlier in her life, food would get her to come to me and lots of praise, but then she decided she'd become a weight watcher..She's got a body like Paris Hilton, thin and boney, but she does have a good appetite!
MaryL-California

As long as she doesn't have a brain like Paris Hilton you should be OK!

lol Karen, she could pass for a double for Paris, just a cute little pup tart..

Do you or anyone know how far it is from where Vivi was, near the tents Gail put up and where she has been seen in Rosedale etc? A NY gal I talked to yesterday was amazed that she could travel THAT far, but I didn't ask her how far THAT was.

MaryL-California

Sue G I am so sorry to hear about Nell!!

Come on Vivi, find a nice volunteer, I think they have treats.

SueG,
I'm sorry about Nell, I've lit many candles for her.
I know how hard this is for you..

STAR PROGRAM
Provides medical treatment to injured animals rescued by AC&C. On a daily basis, AC&C encounters animals that would have been euthanized immediately in another era. Homeless and abandoned pets whose medical or behavior condition is poor tend to be dismissed as candidates for adoption even though many of these animals are simply reacting to the trauma of an injury or the impact of a new circumstance and surroundings.
Through the STAR Program, AC&C provides these animals with the time and treatment needed to become adoptable pets. This is done with the help and support of volunteers, area veterinarians and foster families willing to accept temporary placement of an animal away from the shelter and in a loving home.

MaryL,

Going straight across Queens from JFK airport to the top of northern Queens is about 12 miles.

This is based on a prayer from the liturgy for lost animals.

Blessed are you, Lord God, for all living creatures you have made. You keep them in your care and not one of them is lost without you knowing. They glorify you, each in its own way, and speak to us of your beauty and love. Therefore we ask for help, for Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles Bless them and keep them from harm. They unquestionably accept their place in the rhythm of your creation. May we respect them and cherish them for they are your gift to us; through them may we come to know you better and praise you, their Creator. Blessed be the love and joy that they bring to us.We thank you for the healing You are bringing Susan A, Madison,
and Baby Girl. Continue the healing you are doing in Dante and Murphy. We ask for a miraculous healing in Nell. Be with and greet with love all who will make a trip to Paradise this night. Do not lose us, But please, loving Father be there to greet us with our companion animals who have gone beyond.May our faith continue to grow as a result of the "Vivi experience". Send Your angels and the great Saints Francis and Anthony to support Vivi's angels. We will sleep well tonight, knowing YOU ARE IN CHARGE.AMEN!

Yoda update

I feed my dogs a dry food with glucosamine in it, canned on occation and home made dinners. A month ago I stopped feeding Yoda the dry as he eats the soft foods better. But I didn't think about the missing glucosamine. Pain can be a reason for lack of appitite and think that was a lot of Yoda's problem. I am adding it to his food and that should kick in in a week. He feels pretty frisky since his bath and I am wrapping his legs to help with support. He's a mess structuraly and with age he's so low down on his pasterns I am sure it affects his patellas even more. He's eating and sleeping well. Barking when the bell rings or I come in. So he's doing much better. Thanks again to you all for your concern and support.

FOUND: Phanta, the Whippet on the loose in TN, was found early this morning. She's home now; and except for a few ticks and scratches, she's OK!!! Ah-roo, ah-roo!!!

That is probably it with Yoda. Many years ago I was on glucosamine for my arthritis. My former rheumatologist was running out of options to help me and decided to try this. He actually laughed and said it would probably not help, but another doctor had suggested he try it. Well it was and is to this day the only medicine that actually almost put me into remission from my rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. I felt great, until I had a severe allergy reaction to it. So watch Yoda for any signs of this. Wish I could still take it though, it worked wonders for me.

Glad Yoda is better.

I have had my springer on glucosamine she was 8 yrs old and she's 13 1/2 now. She no longer springs but she goes up and down our stairs just fine.

That's good news that Phanta was found. Out such a sort time and with ticks on her already...not good news for our Ms. Vivi.

Sue: My prayers and heart are full for you and your beloved Nell. Yes, enjoy every minute as you can... Nell is so lucky to have all of your warmth, love and ability to give and have empathy. God Bless You and Nell.
MaryL: yes, same way our fabulous, fabulous trainer taught me to get them to come along with me. Easier with one than the other though!
Sharon: thank you for the most poignant and beautiful prayer today... especially today as we pray so hard for tomorrow to be the day. Thank you.
Candles are burning for Vivi, Nell and all the others we've are all hoping for. Keeping the Faith, sending energy... Marnie in CA

Daddy God,
Thank you for all the miracles you have given to us. Thank you for loving and helping us. We are so happy and thankful for the lost ones that have been found. Please heal little Nell and all the others who are not feeling well. You have given us so much and you are such a wonderful Daddy to us. The searchers have worked so hard Daddy God. Please lead Vivi, Biggie and Sniffles home and all the others who are lost. Guide them by your Holy Spirit to go to the perfect person that they will trust, just like you have led so many rescued babies to me. I have seen you do this so many times and I believe in you Daddy. I believe you will do it again and again. We are yours Daddy. We place ourselves in your hands and all of your precious creatures in your hands. That is where we are safe. We love you Daddy. We are depending on you. In Jesus's name. Amen

DianeK,
Thanks for the info on the distance. I talked to a gal in Jamiaca and she couldn't believe Vivi could travel that far and also the fact, she's heading back to that area. I think she lives near Kings Beach and said she'd keep her eyes open for Vivi.

I was at a dog show today, there were 4 Whippets entered and only 2 showed up..One is a well known Whippet in the show circuit, but she missed todays show.

I'm really surprised Whippet Rescue would place this whippet in a home with only a 4 ft fence... also surprised they would send her back to the same place since that's how she escaped by jumping the fence.
Thank God she was found though!!

Stay safe sweet Vivi... go to someone you trust so you can come home too!

Ok Vivi - do what Phanta did and get caught by a really nice person that will make sure you get back home

Diane, Sue G., Kathleen, and Sharon. I emailed you the Father's love letter. It is safe to open. Please pass it on. With love, Betty in Ohio

I was also surprised that the rescue would let someone adopt a Whippet with a 4 foot fence. When i was on a list to adopt a Whippet, they came to my house and checked me and the yard out..so did the breeder who I finally got my first Whippet from.

Kathy,
Was Phanta a cat who got away from a older man who was ill? I can't for the life of me remember...so many animals, so many lost ones! I'm glad they found Phanta!
