Honi Reisman calls to say that the new toll free number for Vivi is now operational. It is 877-JFK-VIVI.
Honi reminds that the new approach to the search is to back off of chasing Vivi -- a tactic that many pet detectives and sighthound rescuers say will likely only serve to push Vivi farther away. However,- this does not mean that the search is over. It simply means that the search has entered a new phase where the emphasis will be on raising community awareness about Vivi, not catching her.
The most crucial way to do this is through a continued and constant posting of fliers, as well as handing them out to passersby in the following communities and areas in northern Queens: Whitestone, College Point, Flushing and Alley Pond.
Also on the advice of experts, the Vivi team has decided not to emphasize the reward amount, out of concern that it will only encourage "bounty hunters."
Downloadable electronic versions of these posters in several languages will be posted to this blog as soon as they are available. For those who want to make their own posters in the interim, Honi asks that they use the following numbers.

I feel it would be best for the owners and Honi to design these posters, have them printed, and then offer the volunteers a couple of locations to pick them up to distribute them.
As someone mentioned earlier on the blog, at that time the efforts could be coordinated through Honi or whoever so people are going to all locations and not repeating themselves.
Does this seem unreasonable to the owners or Honi? It would be a good way of coordinating things better.
Again, why isn't info being being offered on what to do if Vivi spotted...this can be printed on the reverse side of the flyers. How will "community awareness" be reached about what to do if this info is not presented? Are we expected to print up two flyers and hand that out too? Thank you.
Addendum: "Alley Pond" is not a community, there is "Alley Pond Park" - a park; is that where Vivi has been spotted? If so, that means going into the park to hand out flyers, (cannot post inside) to people using park, bicycle path, etc. Better clarification of sighting means smarter mobilization of volunteer efforts. Thank you.
I agree with Kathleen Stephenson. Great recommendation. It would Most EFFICIENT for the owners and Honi to design the posters, have them printed, and then offer the volunteers a couple of locations to pick them up to distribute them. There are so many well-intentioned people willing to help. However, there is confusion and chaos in many of the blogs. I printed and RUSH overnighted posters that had phone numbers that were changed after I shipped. A single source of info will streamline Vivi's search. The monies collected to date should be able to cover the poster costs.
I have attempted to email Honi about this though I heve never gotten return email from the principals. The phone numbers on the AWC2006 website updated after the 1877 JFK VIVI number was up and working, in other words recently, do not match the ones on this post. Seriously, I am trying hard to print posters and to email the ones I have designed to other people so that they can and when the two official websites don't have concurrent information it creates alot of confusion. I know none of us are professionals at finding a dog or even in running a business, but this seems very basic and very easy to change. Please.
I haven't been on all day but got an e-mail that there were questions that need to be clarified. First, let me say please don't shoot the messenger.
Karen, the proper numbers for the posters and flyers are, in order of their posting - 877-JFK-VIVI; 917-647-4848; 917-626-1374 -- these are the three numbers that should appear on the flyer.
Regis, since I don't know where you're located let me tell you that we have picked a central location from where we can direct people to the community and give them directions on how to get there, if necessary. Last Saturday we did a hand-out blitz of the area, hitting all the major shopping centers. Unfortunately, Vivi has 4 feet and likes to travel so we have to branch out a bit.
Carla, yes, Vivi was spotted in Alley Pond Park last weekend near Creedmoor but she hasn't been seen since. There is an area there where the Dog Walkers Club walks their dogs, feeds the stray and also locks the fence at night. However, we have reason to believe that she may have moved on but don't know where. That's why they want that area posted. There is also one very nice poster that I received via e-mail that actually has instructions on what to do if you spot Vivi. The most important thing is not to chase her but follow her at a distance unless she's running.
Now that that's said and don't get me wrong, you all have valid concerns, I will e-mail approved posters to Denise no later than tomorrow so that you can all use them.
I myself have a few questions for Honi and hopefully will be talking to her tonight.
Hang in there people. I'm as frustrated as all of you are and from now on feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns.
Just remember on thing - we're doing this for Vivi, not for Bo, not for Paul but for Vivi. You'll notice I left Jil and Rick out of this. They are as concerned as we are over her safety and well-being and it's because of the fantastic job that Jil did with her raising her an independent girl that she's been able to survive on her own. Jil wants her baby back and from what I understand has put off her wedding plans until Vivi is returned to her.
Has anyone ever contacted the schools? That was talked about at one time. If we can get agreeable administrators to hand out flyers to teachers, then teachers could very briefly tell their students what to do if they see Vivi. I'd be willing to research schools in Queens and call the principals.
Should I?
I think they mean the area between Bayside, Little Neck and Douglaston.
Melanie, if you would like to do that, by all means please do. If you need the instructions on what to do I believe it was posted at the main page of Animal House, if not, does anybody remember where it was, I know I saw it here.
If anybody else would like to make any calls or fax/deliver flyers to any of the services in the area, feel free to do so but just let me know so we don't duplicate our efforts.
Thank you all and just keep thinking of Vivi.
IRENE IS NOT A "NASTY PIECE OF WORK"! SHE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT VIVI, AND ACTS ON IT!
I think the owners love and desire to have Vivi home, but I think they're not being counseled well, and I think their faith in Honi is very misplaced. It's just my opinion, but I don't think the owners have a clue of the politics going on here.
Diane M-K: Excellent questions -- some of which I've tried to ask previously and been brushed off, and some I already know the answers to sadly.
I'm very tired of reading that this is the owners' dog and we should only follow their direction. Doesn't anyone feel there's a greater responsibility to VIVI?! Isn't that what this is about?
I don't doubt the owners' care for Vivi, but I think they've shown horrible judgment. We'd probably still think Vivi is in a heated cargo hanger, hunting rabbits if we followed their ideas.
I also don't think any of the extensive posters and flyers and energy here would exist if WE hadn't been there. I seriously think the owners would still be relying on their 12 pyschics or whatever number it was. Pets are NOT found with animal communicators or psychics ... they're found by having a good plan and following it, and NEVER GIVING UP!
I really can't take this anymore. I'll check in to see if she's recovered, but I'll try not to post. Please message me privately if you want to chat; otherwise, good luck and blessings to our angels who are out there doing the actual work.
Feel free to flame away ... I'm beyond caring what certain individuals think of me.
As always,
I didn't say anything about Irene. Are you kidding, she's out there with the boys handing out flyers. Very caring.
Maybe I should not even say this. But I agree the OWNERS personally should design a real poster and then anyone who wants to download it and print copies can.
A while back a poster had a phone number and I Googled the number to see who it belonged to because it was not a NY number. I actually thought it might be an error.
Turns out it was Paul's number and was listed for a screen printing business in Ojai CA.
Want to bet he has a good graphic artist who can design a standard OWNER GENERATED poster rather than having several versions being used only to have them change the contents sometimes every day.
And they would be consistent.
There are lots of posters out there with many variations of the info. Sorry to say, I would be a bit put off after printing the poster du jour and in the next moment find out it was changed. Like, make up your mind.
The owners do have the contacts to design a professional poster that we can down load and it WILL have on it what they want. Asfar as I recall, none of the posters came out of Ojai CA.
I know they are busy but so are we. I only work 12 to 15 hours a day x 7.
I see now they have the word Reward back in it. Want to bet it might be changed again?
I have very quietly faxed friends, many businesses in the area and yes, it costs. The cost is not really a factor when you are assured you are sending the correct info. Then within a few minutes, you get the new info and a few hours later, another version.
BTW, I have a color fax machine and have been sending the faxes in color. Anyone who has a color all in one can recieve a color fax.
Then you get a new poster and sit back and wait for a new version to appear with new wording before you fax it. So you wait a day, fax it and here we go, new info.
Somehow, if the owners actually did the poster and not anyone else I would be willing to rev up the fax machine again.
But not until I see Jil's, Bo's and Paul's signature on it.
I run a business and have very little spare time. And no spare time to waste. I want to do my part. I am a perfectionist and want to do it right.
OK, let's get the cast of characters straight here.
Bo is the breeder, Paul is the co-owner with Jil who has physical custody of Vivi and Rick is Jil's fiance. I believe Bo and Paul along with Honi are controlling everything and I have no idea whether they consult with Jil or not. So when you're referring to the owners - let's leave Jil out of it. She and Rick have been in NY numerous times and have walked through all the parks, all the bushes, all the areas that she was sighted in numerous times. When they were here the last time I was talking to Rick and he had a tear in his eye, he loves that dog as much as Jil and Vivi loves them both.
I'm just wondering...if you guys weren't on the front lines putting up flyers etc, and we weren't behind you making calls printing flyers doing faxes, hiring people w/dogs, alerting the media what would the owners game plan have been?
This isn't directed at anyone in particular just someone who might know. Maybe we need to sit back and find out what it was and than we could work from there. It's kind of hard to do things when you live across the country but I'm just curious how they would have handled it if we all weren't here to hinder the recovery. I think it's an honest question to ask.
BTW..Delta's pilot's said YES to a strike.
Leaving work now. I'll be back tonight.
Ah, so some of the previously selfless proletariat volunteers are getting resentful of supporting the bourgeoisie show dog owners with supplies, cash and unpaid man-hours.
Don't blame the owners if you neglected to pay your oil bill or racked up your credit card to pay for their dog to be found.
It really boggles the mind how the people on here, who appear to be middle class (or even some on a very limited income) are shelling out money hand over fist for people that are at the very least upper middle class or even outright wealthy. It boggles the mind how some of you are obviously putting your livelihoods at stake by neglecting to focus on your jobs and misusing your employers' supplies and equipment probably to the tune of thousands of dollars. Yeah, you all like to think the boss is stupid OR that you are indispensible, but really neither is true. May none of you get fired for too many phone calls and faxes, overnight shipping to NY on the company's tab, unaccounted for time, and unaccounted for supplies in terms of ink and paper. The dog show circuit is expensive. If you can't afford to be on the dog show circuit, then what are you doing giving them money when they are obviously better off than you? The only reason I can think of is maybe some of you were/are afraid if you didn't give money, the search for the dog would be abandoned.
I am sure some of you will say that giving the money is for the DOG, not the owners. If this is true, then give money and be still with the complaining against the decisions made by the owners. The dog is not yours and no matter how many hundreds of dollars you chipped in and no matter how many hours you worked on this effort, you have no say.
Technically they didn't ask anyone to help, so don't expect any thanks. Also, don't expect to be entitled to any meaningful input on the search tactics. Here's your instructions: keep printing posters with the approved text at your own expense and keep going out and posting said posters on your own time. So no complaining. If you want to help Vivi, that's the way you should do it.
Question: Would you do all this for anybody else's dog or are you all just star-struck by the glamour of the elite dog show set? This is what I would really want to know. Other lost ordinary dogs owned by mere mortals have been mentioned briefly on this blog but nobody is raising thousands to send tracking dogs after THEM. Some people who give $$$ for Vivi and drive around for Vivi have posted on here how "broke" they are when it comes to giving money for a mere mortal's ordinary dog to be found, and how sorry they are but they don't have time to search for the mere mortal's dog.
Question: What do you think would happen if, as suggested on this blog, volunteers do not pay to print posters, but instead wait for the owners to pay (with their own money) to print them and for Honi (whoever she is) to distribute them? Do you think the search might end abruptly right there? I couldn't answer that question right now because they at least deserve a chance to step up to the plate.
You made things too easy for them by taking on their responsibilities and now you are complaining that you have no "power" because you think you are owed it.
Of course you have no power over the way the search is run and you are not owed anything. You were/are willing participants in this, not victims. It's not your dog, so don't demand any "rights."
Diane, I just mailed you 200 posters (100 of which are neon color) and 200 flyers with the instructions on the back on how to handle Vivi. Unfortunately, I made them up and mailed them only to see that now Bo wants the word REWARD on the posters. Can you just write that bad word on the posters when you get them? I know it'll take a bit, but I'd hate to miss out on that one person that might just catch her for the $.
I agree with Smart Prolie for the most part. You were all VOLUNTEERS who DONATED your time/money, etc. You're acting like your CONTRIBUTIONS should buy you access to updates, special knowledge and undying recognition from the owners. You aren't doing this for Vivi, you're doing it for your own egos or to fill voids in your own lives. You all need to step away from here. You sound like a bunch of scary nuts at this point. The owners have told you what they want you to do, and you're not honoring their wishes. You have no idea what their plans are, nor are they obligated to clear them with you. If you don't think all this crazy energy is scaring off Vivi, then you either know nothing about dogs or are just plain selfish. If you acted like this regarding one of my dogs, I'd be getting a restraining order asap. Send me hate email. I won't hesitate to contact your ISP.
Smart Prolie :
just wandering why a so smart person as you is too shy to put, let say "its" name in stead of a pseudo?? Nobody till you came on this blog has called the volonteers proletariat volonteers. If you know the dog and the owners, are you than of whippet world smart prolie ?? Just wandering, because jealousie is a very nasty word, isn't it smart prolie ? And than, smart prolies are just the typs which doen't belong on a list like this.
Barbara V.,
Maybe the word "reward" is in this blog posting by mistake. Bo sure seems NOT to want to use that word and I think if he changed his mind, it would be made very clear.
Tara from LI
Hi Smartie,
I agree with a lot of your ideas. Even if the owners may be "rich", this is not the kind of problem that you can just write a check and get your dog back. I thought that the idea of this blog was for sighthound owners/dog lovers to brainstorm on ideas for catching this little whippet. As we have seen during the past 7 weeks, whippets are run very fast and they are difficult to catch.
Bo has CONTINUALLY thanked us and has apologized continually for not being able to respond personally and individually to every phone call and e-mail message... which must be in the hundreds. I would most certainly not expect him, too. He is kind enough to post a message every day. He is focused on Vivi and let's try to stay positively focused on her, too. I would send even more money (unconditionally and without questions) in a heartbeat. The wishes of Vivi's family must be respected! They didn't "ask" for the money and are under no obligation to do anything but do what they feel is best for THEIR dog, Vivi. "Unconditional" giving is the same as "unconditional" love... it's unconditional! My support will not waver, nor will my positive thoughts, and I say, "thank you, Bo!"
My heart is so with this family and what they are suffering. Keeping the Faith, Marnie in CA

First of all I volunteer my time looking for vivi I do not need recognition from the owners as i have met them and they are caring people nor am I or any of the volunteers doing it for our ego so do not insult us unless you have been here to help, Second where do you get off calling us scary nuts you have no clue what goes on except what you see on the blog. We are not the ones chasing her all we do is put up the flyers and let the townspeople spot her so we know where she is, we are not selfiah and all of us own dogs and we do know what to do if she is found, do you think we just crawled out from under a rock and you should hope if your dog got lost you would have caring people like us help or you will be doing it alone. This is why the volunteers don't post on this blog anymore . We do not need people like you to bring us down.
Thanks to all the volunterrs, all the poster designers, all the donators of money and time, all the people who have ideas and all the people who care.
Smart, I think you make some very valid points. Would we all be here for just any dog??? I have wondered that myself...some would, some wouldn't. For the record I love all animals and I could care less what breed they are or if they have "papers". My wish would be that every time an animal was missing this kind of response would come to be the norm. Oh and that all pets were nutured or spayed so that there would not be the need for pounds and ultimate deaths. My two cents worth....:)
Diane, sorry you thought I was referring to you. I wasn't. Ko posted that Irene was a nasty piece of work, and it offended me because I know how hard she works and how much she cares.
As always,
Dear Smart Prolie...thanks for taking me back to my middle school years (full of name calling, etc.). I laughed so hard when I read the post I almost fell off my chair! Really! Thank you, I sooooooooooooooooooo needed THAT.
As far as for my own personal reasons for looking for this dog...I own a whippet. I know they are pretty much hairless, skinny and don't do so well in the cold.
The fact that she went missing in mid-February (pretty cold in New York that time of year I hear) really bummed me out. I kept thinking what if it had been my dog. Me for one, I don't care who the owners are and I don't care what they do and I certainly don't care how much money they (or anyone else for that matter) makes!
My care and concern is for a little female whippet, surviving (against all odds) in unknown and unfamiliar territory. She has inspired me greatly! Granted, I mainly became interested because she is a whippet. Now, I really realize the need for more "help" to assist in the search for lost dogs.
When Vivi is found, I will gladly take on another project. Unfortunately, I do have a job and I'm limited to working on this project from home (I use my own printer, ink, paper). So for me, I have to take it one dog at a time. These are my choices and GOD BLESS AMERICA - I'm free to make them!
Perhaps this dog has gotten too much attention, maybe some people are only helping out because she has star statis... WHO Knows and who cares..?!?
But-- I have been reading this blog for quite awhile, I don't remember every detail. I have read about how some of us have rescued injured animals more than once, how others have helped friends and neighbors find lost pets. Someone here volunteers at a local SPCA walking dogs. Someone volunteers at local vets office. Many people have cared for their own much loved pets through sickness and sadness. I have no doubt about most everyone here. We are the mere mortals, just trying to make some part of the world right.
Just giving you all hope, because miracles do happen. I live in NH, and not sure if you heard of the story of the Golden Retriever that had been missing back in 2004. Well news today that they finally caught him. With a baited trap and net, they were able to catch him after almost 2 years. He is hope that if Vivi can begin to trust people, and know they are there to help, and not hurt her, she will in time let her guard down. I pray for that miracle soon, so that she can be with her family too. Keep up the search, don't give up, and don't let others bring you all down. God works in mysteries ways. He IS on our side to finding Vivi, and all the others, and to bring them home. Take care, many blessings.
Cheryl....that is great news...YES!!! I am sooooo glad to hear that...Thank you for posting that!
I have not posted for while because I was put down for my search efforts, but I feel I have to now. The volunteers have been doing an OUTSTANDING JOB with everything they are doing. Without all of the flyers, we would not know where Vivi is. These people are doing this out of the goodness of thier hearts! Not for the reward, not for ego, for the love of Vivi. We are not evil people here! We dont care who makes how much money or who doesnt. WE only care about helping the family get Vivi back home. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT HERE, GO FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO COMPLAIN! This blog has some very wonderful people posting. GOD BLESS ALL OF THE VOULUNTEERS!
God bless Lois!
I am a whippet owner too, and I discovered this blog because I kept checking the internet for any news about Vivi. I was thinking about that poor little skinny dog out in the New York cold and worrying about her. My whippets live in California, and they rarely come out of their blankets when it's winter here.
We all have our own motivations for wanting to help here, but this little dog has inspired us.
I also have 4 whippets. I know what it is like to own them. I have owned whippets now for 25 years. The Vivi story has touched us all.
I don't have a whippet but have a great friend who had one for 17 years. I have 5 rescued dogs of varying breeds and a cat. I think that Vivi is a show dog is irrelevant to HER. To her she is who she is. For me I tuned into this case the first day. First they announced they had given up the search after only one day. Then a friend remarked to me she was probably already dead because of the cold. At that moment I said to the noone, the sky, I for one will not give up on this dog. I found this blog, probably read it a week before my first post. I looked back at all the posts one day and could see people whose names I now know step up one at a time (Lois and Irene were among the first, by the way). Together we discovered she survived against all odds. Now somehow we will bring her back to a better life and I will have kept my promise to myself.
I hate the fighting and have witnessed big hearted people do the best they can at something we organized ourselves. The only complaint I really have about the bloggers is when the only time I have heard somene's name it is in the form of an often long, judgemental criticism. I say to those people do something positive. And ultimately I hope in some way yet to emerge that this will benefit more than one lost dog.
I just looked up Alley Pond Park on Google Earth. If it's the same as Alley Pond Environmental Center, and you look at all the sightings in the past few weeks, Vivi is making a circle. A territory circle like we've talked about in the past. She could be headed back toward Kissena.
Right On Karen! :)
g in maine, that is what I am doing right now also.
With google you can put pins , as to where the sighting have been, this way you can figure what the next move will be.
I think if she is going back to the cemetary that is her comfort zone and then she ventures out for food.
G in Maine,
The actually Alley Pond Environment Center is furthur north (If you're looking at map, it's at Northern Boulevard right next to cross island parkway. Alley Pond Park is more south (it starts at Union Turnpike and Winchester Blvd) I believe she was possibly sighted at the park - note there are also north and south sections to this park) Regardless of her not being at the actually environmental center area - you are correct re: her travels - it seems to be soemwhat circle esp now with her travel into college point. She does seem to stick to the greenbelt of parks. This was mentioned by myself and others weeks ago this pattern of east west travels along the greenbelt. There is a marked bike trail through it all.It starts at alleypond park, through bayside, through north cunningham park, across to peck park area, along kissena park, then along the botanical gardens and finally Flushing meadows.
she is making bigger and biggerr circles, this is what wolves do also.
Well, at least if she is travelling back toward Kissena, many of the people there are going to be aware of her already because of all the previous activity. Plus she may still be able to smell Jill's scent is some places.
I feel she is creating her own territory.
We have to keep our focus on Vivi. She captured my heart at the dog show not because she was a show dog, but because her face and the expression on it is beautiful. I don't own a whippet, but a whippet helped me overcome my fear of dogs after I was attacked by a dog as a 5 year old. We all have come together to get this little girl back home. The way to do it is up to the owners. This could have happened to anyone of us and I hope that people would be there for me as the fantastic NY people have been for them. I have been checking the shelter lists for Sniffles and Biggie and it is difficult to look at all the lost souls. After these 3 are home, hopefully this experience will enable us to help more pets. This bickering has got to go.
The fact that she is starting to make circles seems like a good thing and a positive step in this long process. I think it could be a sign that she is getting more comfortable, not running away and away and away.
STRATHAM, N.H. -- A golden retriever missing for two years who had avoided capture despite numerous sightings was finally captured Wednesday.
Sam, known as the "Golden Ghost," was reported missing by his Deerfield, N.H., owners on May 17, 2004. He had been spotted in nearly a dozen Rockingham County towns, and a Fremont, N.H., resident shot video of him. But no one was able to capture him.
The New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals announced that Sam was finally caught with a high-tech netting system. The organization said that he seemed to be in good spirits and will be under observation at the SPCA for the next 10 days and an animal behaviorist will work with him.
The dog's owners, Dennis and Peg Sklarski, have been notified of the dog's capture. The Sklarskis said earlier this year that they thought Sam was avoiding people because he had been rescued from an abusive home.
I agree Karen , But the circle has to start closing or else she could end up in I would say a mile radius around where she has been seen.
which is a bog area.
Ignore the last line . "sorry"
that is a wonderful happy ending cheryl.
Cheryl Thanks again for that info on Sam...:) It gives me hope for all animals...
So you are saying it is more of a spiral than a circle? I guess it is time to look at google earth again.

LoisBaker@7:24! I'm with you. I own Whippets and Vivi made this a special mission for me although for many years I have been on a mission to help any animal I can. I've had GSD's, a Dalmatian, a rescued German Short Hair Pointer, a Shih Tzu'who was 8 and from a puppy mill, bad teeth, needed to be spayed and on and on. I do have a life and will continue to have one after Vivi is found, contrary to what some people think! At this time, my mission is to help in anyway I can, to find Vivi. I'm doing this long distance as I'm from California, not in a $800,000 home! (o:
So many of the people on these Vivi blogs are caring people, Irene being one of them. I would be happy to be a, uh,volunteer, "proletariat" or not and btw, I don't own a "bourgeoise showdog", I own just 2 plain little Whippets!

I love Google earth , There is a way of putting Push pins on the map . So I put Push pins on the all the places that she was seem , & the circle was small and then it got larger . I think her next area maybe St albans . She could be going in and back out. But from watching all the discovery shows, I always watch about wolves. There was one on 2 weeks ago about how wolves will follow the food chain, and go out for miles and create their own territory
THE 1-877-JFK-VIVI IS STILL NOT WORKING HERE IN CONNECTICUT.
I have google earth up and have put pins on Alley Pond Park, Flshing Cemetery, Utopia Pkwy at 47th. What are some other locations where I can pout pins so I can see this pattern too? Thanks. Tired of being confused about where she is, has been.
karen
1)211 & bell blvd .
2) blossom ave & college point blvd
3)bowne street
4) 150th street
50 college point
just so it sounds less illiterate: I have Google Earth on now with a couple of pins. What are some of the other crossroads or locations where she has been sighted.
Was it Kissena Park or Kissena Lake?
Oops thanks
I have it on Kissena park .
i have 9 locations pinned . How many do you have pinne?
Thanks. I was remembering that Rosa saw her drinking out of a lake but I don;t remember which one.
I was looking at the area from afar and it is a spiral and it just got bigger .
Just came back from posting around Flushing Cemetry again. All the posters that everyone put up day in and day out are GONE!! We are back to square one! Keep those posters coming people! I work all day in the the city (that's Manhattan for all my non-New York new friends) so I can only post after I come home around 6:30 - 7:00 pm. I only spend maybe 2 or 3 hours doing it, but every little bit sure helps. Your posters are very much appreciated and without them this search would be meaningless (sp?) The posters let people see who to call if Vive is seen and the searchers race to the location to verify its authenticity. Thank you all again!
Amazingly big really but yes it does seem to be forming a pattern. yes 9 plus I put in JFK
Which one is the garage Karin and her dogs found?
And which is the apartment building?
Don't know why I waited until today to do this. I put Google earth on when I was in Maui and found one site then kind of forgot about it.
Isn't that amazing . now the trick is to plot where she is and, where she will go, and try and get ahead of her . I have to email this to darlene , so she can look at it .
cause this little girl has to go home .
Thanks Kathy I'll print some tomorrow. Makes me think the sheet protectors are overkill, if they are just up a few days.
how was maui, I bet beautiful . I was there a lonnnnnnnnnnnngggg time ago , and thought it was the most beautiful island .
I don't remember where the other locations were , I just did the most recent ones .
Thank you Kathy. We'll keep sending them as long as you keep putting them up. Doesn't matter how long you are there...it will only take ONE poster or flyer to do the trick.
Karen..do you think we shouldn't bother with the sheet protectors? I just finished stuffing 200 of them into those plastic covers. No point in spending the money on them if that's the case.
Ok smart prolie : I only agree with you in one way and that is that we shouldn't be complaining about the $ we donated and all the things we've done to help with Vivi . Thats it though , if the owners don't want us to know things , so be it but I'm not gonna stop looking just because her owners in California don't want me to look . From several conversations and emails today I know that many of the searchers will still be out looking tomorrow not all but some... looking, not chasing or calling her but simply looking ... No one is going to stop me from walking down my street... sorry. If it's such a concern the owners should be there to take care of it. There is NO way your gonna be able to keep every single person away from Vivi in NY, just the facts. I was happy to send money for Vivi's search efforts and have not second guessed it once and I don't feel like I need to know everything about Vivi and whether she was spotted at all , I just feel like MANY of us have done alot and helped with flyers and now we are being told to stop ... Not alot of people will do that... Some people can't ... we all love animals. Also , she's running around NYC I don't think anyone has control of the situation , especially from California .
I know we are all nuts as suggested by Angela ... thank you so much for your opinion but I don't care. If it's my dog I get the no chasing rule , but good god please look for him/her for me. The only persons void we are trying to fill here is Jil's ... and don't forget it , this is for Vivi 100% so don't sit there and say otherwise unless you know what you are talking about .
If anyone wants to know I did not see Vivi , obviously, but my little brother and I brought one of her pictures from the other flyer and a pad and pen a wrote down the new # for people to call if they seen her. Many people were very nice and seemed to care , I gave the # to about 30 or 40 people gotta get more flyers tomorrow but in the mean time all eyes are open ! And the best news of all is that she was spotted a few days ago so I'm happy to hear it . I'll keep up the work here. I understand what you mean Pamela I don't care what certain people say about me either... A Womans gotta do what a Womans gotta do ... STAND our ground and Vivi stand yours cuz it's almost time to go home.. :)
Well they are saved so that when I figure out more it will make an even better picture of her path. Should help predict her next move, the more sightings the more of a pattern.
Maui was just lovely. Have good friends who live there so I was in a working class neighborhood instead of a hotel and spent my days with a little Blue Heeler (ACD) named Isha. She drove with me all the way around the perimeter of the island and loved looking at the cows out the window of the car. I slowed down so she could. Whales leaping every time I glanced at the water. And pretty soon I had everyone asking about Vivi too. I had Google Earth on for the firt time there and I was swooping between Vivi and Maui (or should I say Isha) It was cool. Thanks for asking.
It isn't up to me and I don't want to cause an uproar but if they are being torn down every week or two it sounds to me like they aren't up long enough to make a difference. I am not in NY though, so my opinion is probably not valid. Maybe other people posting (literally as well as here) can weigh in on that.
I think it does make a difference no matter how long they are up. People will read it and will remember it they don't have to see it every day. The only thing is....with the posters down people will think she was found. Why do people have to be so distructive about it?
Hey Debbie! I totally agree with you girlfriend! I am grateful for having met you and everyone else out there, you're the most hard working, loving people!
Keep going...for Vivi, that's what it's all about! And keep kissing that pretty face of hers...she feels it!
Hugs,
Nicole
I'm only talking about sheet protectors, not posters.Sheet protectors might be overkill if the posters are only up a short time.
The sheet protectors are good because when it rains the flyers stay dry and the wind does not tear them off. But, I know they are expensive. Someone sent us some posters that were sort of laminated, but I think they were done by hand. Those were especially nice, they went up easy in the wind (it was very windy tonight) and hold their shape even when it rains.
Can someone send me that goggle link, I would like to take a look at it. If it is not too much trouble that is...
