Vivi fund details again

Vivi supporters who want to make a donation to the search effort can always contribute to the long-established fund used to offset the costs of finding Vivi.

Checks made out to Bobbi and the Strays with "FOR VIVI" in the subject line can be mailed to 3392 Bay Front Place, Baldwin, NY 11510.

Any remaining monies after the Vivi search has concluded will be donated to Bobbi and the Strays, which helps find homes for homeless dogs and cats in Queens and throughout the city.

BUT SEND MORE MONEY $!$!$!$!

What nonsense. How crass to add this blog entry right after that one! As Kathleen has suggested more than once, let the owners, etc., design and print official approved posters and let them give the posters to Honi to distribute to people who will go out to post them.

For those of you who don't live in NY, send $$$ to reimburse the people in NY who are out on the front lines everyday for hours on end, spending their own money on gas, cell phone bills, etc., as per the recent payments which were coordinated by Lois from the "unofficial" funds raised by the bloggers alone.

Also let's hope and pray that Vivi decides to approach and allow herself to be "captured" by a human who happens to know about her plight and who will not scare her!

It is my hope and prayer that Vivi get returned to her home as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I am too far away to be of physical help, so I have gladly donated to the Vivi fund, and will again, until I know she is home and safe. I personally can't imagine the turmoil in having a pet lost but I am behind these people 100%. Keep it up!

Just a note, that i work just outside of JFK near the Post office, and had printed a few posters for my co workers that speak spanish and live in the search area. With all the NOT TO DO Warnings. VIVI, WE MISS YOU, come home safe. XO

I am glad they have taken off the reward amount on the flyers. The one thing that seems to be missing on the flyers to me is it lacks any emotion that might appeal to someone to want to help out more, with a phone call if she's seen, or if someone had her to want to return her.
Something like... beloved family pet or owners heartbroken, could be added.
Also adding something like... she is scared, do not chase... might make people more sensitive to her.

Thank you Danny! I'm sure the posters are most appreciated. I've been in awe of the compassion and genorousity of the people of NYC in helping to unite a dog with her west coast family. Also the coming together of people from all over the USA has been amazing. We will get Vivi home.

She is scared, do not chase. I like that one..

God, Father, and Mother of us all, You must have a terrific sense of humor, and tonight,I can almost hear You chuckle. How often do we plead for your help, only to offer you advice? Your unconditional love is enough for us--- and what better example of this love than is seen in the eyes of our brother and sister animals. We need them to remind us of Your love, and that is why we confidently ask you to return Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles, and all the lost and strays to our keeping. Guide them to people they can trust to bring them to their parents. Keep them safe and warm (and fed) in your embrace. Bless the efforts of everyone here, especially our mistakes. Special blessings to Your "hands and feet" in this search--they,like the animals they adore, shine with Your love.Let a "happy ending" cause us to grow in faith, no matter what its tradition. Let us all, animal and person, alike, sleep safely and well because YOU are in charge. Amen
("Mistakes" are simply proof of how hard we've tried.)

We should organize a Dog Walk-A-Thon in Queens or the surrounding area to benefit the return of Vivi; if Vivi should be found by then, she can participate and the monies can be given for homeless dogs. Perhaps in about 3-4 weeks! Just an idea. Stef

It may be time to take a "cleansing breath" and realize that we all really want the same thing.
The stress eminating from the blog is evidence of our frustration at the unresolved saga of this little whippet girl. Please dont waste time and emotion taking it out on each other. *Patience* is essential at this point.
When my whippet went missing one night in a rainstorm I shouted her name til I was hoarse and soaked to the skin. When I finally stopped shouting, I could then hear her crying out to me...

A brand new day is here, let's all try to get back to what we are all here for, ViVi.

I am off to dog shows in Springfield, Ma. I'll be thinging and hoping ViVi will show her little fact this weekend.

Sorry, I should have said "show her little face :) "

Linda NH, I know what you mean, I keep posting Brian's name as Brain. I have never blogged before and it turns out it displays my total lack of typing abilities. I keep thinking, wait I wrote THAT? come back words so I can write you again...

Karen,
I keep telling myself to use that "preview" before I POST!

I don't mean this in a critical way at all, I totally agree and understand if it is the case.......Does anyone else have the feeling Miss Vivi has been seen, but it just isn't being made public?

I sure hope so!

Linda NH

More news about the Golden Ghost, a golden retriever that was missing for 2 years as numerous attempts to recapture him failed:

Linda NH

Most definately. I would bet my house on the fact he owners and Bo do not want the sightings to be made public in order to avoid a capture attempt that might be too aggressive and harm or scare her.

I am owned by an Italian Greyhound and I know a bit about that sort of dog.

Do I dissagree with the tactic? Not at all. I think any of the established searchers under the direction of the coordinated search know better not to chase or corner her.

Honestly, it does me no good from my office here in PA to know she was sighted at such and such a place. I am not there on foot. Other than placing pins on my google earth map and stare at it as if Vivi will run across the computer screen, there is nothing more I can do if I know the exact locations.
I would love to read the words "She was sighted again" but do not need to know exactly where. That would be a comfort.

SharonG, I am with you. Just a note saying there was a sighting. But I understand if they are not going to do that.

Thank you Donna for the pictures - the area is certainly a lot different than what we have here in Colorado - I am the lucky companion of 3 greyhounds and I would absolutely HATE it if they had the opportunity to be in that area off-leash - I would never catch them (if they were so inclined to leave the comfy couch) I pray each and every moment of the day that Vivi will be found safe and soon. Thank God for his forever watching eye on Vivi, Biggie and Sniffles and all the lost creatures and I pray that he sends them all home to their guardians soon.

I do hope they get that message somehow. I know they don't want to publicize her whereabouts but at the same time to keep people interested is important and all they have to do is say Vivi was sighted in a park at night or something like that and I know I want to send out more posters when I hear that.

SHARON G, ALANE, KAREN******************* (AND OTHERS)
MAKE YOUR POSTERS, GIRLS :)
WINK, WINK, NUDGE, NUDGE.............

I have some made. I am waiting to be able to use the laminator (surreptitiously...:)), which will be about 5PM. I'll mail them tomorrow. Shall I send them directly to you?

karen: i have some but thanks, love. you can send them to diane i guess and she will make sure we get them asap. AND THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Darlene,

Does your message mean what I think it means? I am reading in between the lines based on the comment from Karen in the post above yours.

Which one is needed most? Large neon posters, or two-sided flyers to hand out with the how to get Vivi instructions on the back. I will try to make time this weekend to make some.

Gail from IL

GAIL: YES, from what i know, dearie. and send anything got you got baby!!! we need it all. the neons are great and so are the 2 sided ones. i can't pick. just do what you can :) AND TO ALL WHO HAVE HAVE BEEN SENDING POSTER AND FLYERS TO DIANE, ME, DEBBIE, WHOEVER - THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL AND I CAN SEE THE LOVE AND CARING YOU GUYS HAVE PUT INTO EACH ONE. THEY ARE HUNG WITH CARE KNOWING THAT SOMEONE WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE THEM - HONESTLY. I AM SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS WHEN I SAY - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH**********!!!!!!******* WE WOULD BE NOWHERE WITHOUT YOUR GENEROUSITY**********

All of mine are two sided flyers which can also be hung as posters.
I have some printed with tear offs at the bottom so people can take phone numbers with them and some without which I will laminate.

OH - AND P.S. (AND I KEEP FORGETTING THIS):
ROSA AND TINA WANTED ME TO THANK ALL OF YOU!!! THEY DON'T HAVE ACCESS OR TIME FOR THE COMPUTER, BUT ARE AMAZED EVERYDAY TO HEAR AND SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE DOING TO HELP!!!! FORGIVE ME FOR NOT SAYING IT EARLIER BUT THEY ARE TRULY THANKFUL AND VIVI IS IN GREAT HANDS WITH THOSE 2 SEARCHING AND CARING FOR HER SAFE RETURN. YOU COULDN'T GET ANY BETTER.

Oh and also I printed several pages of stick-on address labels, in two sizes with the new JFKVivi number on them to stick on older posters either not hung yet or those you happen to come across.

I dreamed about printing posters and problems with the new number last night. Does this mean I am losing my mind? Don't answer.

I just popped in here for a minute but ditto to everything Darlene said. Darlene, you go girl. I'm cleaning out my truck tonight and giving them all to Tina and Rosa so anybody that need posters contact them. I have some personal matters I need to take care of but I'll be around. Thanks for all your support - contrary to what some might think - it is truly appreciated.

WOW, KAREN - YOU ARE QUITE THE LITTLE ARTIST. SOME OF THE LAMINATED ONES ARE BEING RIPPED DOWN TOO. IRENE IS LOSING MOST OF HERS SO IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME, JUST SEND 'EM!!!! I HAVE CONTACT THE TIMES LEDGER TO DO ANOTHER ARTICLE ABOUT VIVI. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD ONE AND IT IS ONE OF THE LOCAL PAPERS FOR THE QUEENS AREA - VERY POPLULAR. THE LATEST ADITION JUST CAME OUT AND THANK GOD, VIVI IS IN THERE AGAIN!!! IT DIDN;T THINK THEY WOULD RUN ANOTHER ONE BUT THEY DID. IN THE NEXT, IF IT DOES GO TO PRINT, I AM BEGGING PEOPLE NOT TO CHASE HER BUT TO CALL AND ALSO ASKING PUBLICLY THAT NO ONE TOUCHES THE FLYERS AND IF SOMEONE KNOWS IF AN AGENCY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TEARING THEM DDOWN, TO PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP. I HAVE PROMISED ONCE VIVI SI FOUND, EACH AND EVERY FLYER WILL BE REMOVED FROM PUBLIC PROPERTY. HOPING THAT WILL KEEP SOME FROM BEING RIPPED DOWN.

I received a bunch of very large posters and numerous packages of other posters - THANK YOU EVERYBODY, THEY WILL DEFEINITELY BE PUT TO GOOD USE THIS WEEKEND.

Gotta get back to work.

OK Darlene choice, would you prefer that I take them to the mailbox right now or wait and laminate them tonight? I can make more to laminate actually and do both.

Karen, That was a great idea. Are you taking a flyer and glueing it to the poster board?

Arts and Crafts Challenged here..

Darlene: In case you missed it on the other thread, here is my "hallmark moment" post from a little while ago, lol. I got rather sappy but I can't help it, just a big mushball *smiles*
And warm greetings to everyone else on here, I was laying low for awhile due to all the insanity and negativity but it's good to see things returning back to normal again.

LOL! Ok, well I forgot to actually copy/paste the post I just now with it, oh well. lol. Darlene if you are still on here you can just check the other thread, I must be having yet another of my nutty days, guess that's what I get for trying to do my work and post on the blog at the same time. hehe

Renee

I am actually doing it several different ways. I was going to run a few mounted on poster board through the laminator but mostly I am just laminating them as is because I have printed them two sided. I am not laminating the 8.5x14's with tear offs because they then can't tear them off.

Just wanted to put my two cents in and thank you all for sending Vive posters and flyers. I will be putting them up and handing them out this weekend, with yes, loving care!!

Thank you ladies. Other than Linda's husband..where are all the men here to help? Oh, that's right..they'd have to do two things at once..hold the flyer and a staple gun all at the same time..not to mention find a pole to put it on. :-)

Karen, Please check your email

Marty nothing in my email yet butI'll keep trying

About posters being ripped down: Isn't it the NYC Sanitation Dept. that is doing it? I remember reading that on the blog somewhere here.

On another note: Vivi ROCKS! She is such a tough little character! She is amazing! I am praying for a happy ending for this girl so much!

Tara from LI

TJILL - we tried sanitation and they said no - they do not have time or manpower. the wooden poles are not city property and they should not touch them. however, audrey i think it was was approached by the 111th precinct and the cop told her that he could arrest her for littering??? I DON'T THINK SO, LOSER!!!!
KAREN - WE HAVE ALOT OF STUFF SO DON'T KILL YOURSELF OVER THIS***** SEND THEM WHEN YOU ARE READY. I HAVE CONFIDENCE THEY WILL BE WORKS A=OF ART, MY FRIEND :)
RENEE: YAHOO - WE ARE BACK AND NO ONE IS GOING TO GET US DOWN THIS TIME, MY LOVE*****
DIANE: EVERYTHING OK????????

GAIL: DEBBIE AND I STRANGLE OURSELVES WITH THE TAPE GUNS - TALK ABOUT ARTISTICALLY CHALLENGED?????
UGH!!!! AND, YES, KIDS - THE LIVERWURST LIVES ON.... BLAH!!!!!

Karen, thank you. Its funny but all of us who put up posters and flyers have a favorite. I personally prefer posters, I think its Irene who likes the flyers to put in mailboxes, not sure what Debbie likes (what do you like Debbie). What ever, brings Vive home.

Darlene, your a team with Debbie arent't you?

KATHY: YES, WE ARE THE 2 THAT LOOK LIKE IDIOTS WHEN WE ARE OUT THERE. JUST LOOK FOR THE 2 BLONDES WITH 2 OR 3 ROLLS OF TAPE CAUGHT IN THEIR HAIR :)

Has anyone heard if this was Biggie or not?

How can I get in touch w/Biggies owners. A male
pug was brought into CACC on 4/5. He is not neutered
Was Biggie? If someone can tell her that would be
great. Hoping for a happy ending

Darlene yes I remember you saying how you use it to hold your hairdo. lol

That's how the joke started about putting sticky tape down all over the area so when Vivi steps on she couldn't move.:-) If it were only that easy...

Darlene, I hope that's not the same piece of liverwurst you have been using all this time!

She's not far Mets Stadium you can always have a TAIL GATE PARTY!!

Sorta sane = crazy about Vivi!

nicole: LOTS AND LOTS OF BEER :)
HOPE VIVI LIKES BUD LIGHT :)

TAILGATE, BBQ - WHATEVER HAS BEER!!!!
HA!!!!! GO METS********* (SORRY RENEE - NOT A BIG YANKEE FAN, LOVE).....

Hi Renee, Darlene and everyone, Being a baseball fan (Mariners) it dawned on me that this was the opening week for baseball. From the map, Shea Stadium is reasonably close to the last Vivi sightings that I am aware of. I don't know how many fans the Mets pull in for a game but 20,000 or more isn't uncommon for a weekend game this early in the season. I think the Mets are home this weekend. Maybe some flyers or posters around the parking areas and in the path people take walking to the stadium would help get the word out. Forgive me if this isn't a new idea, I'm seriously limited on time to keep up.

Just read newest posts...obviously I'm behind!

Mets????!!!! Oh nooooo! Don't tell me we are going to have another debate! lol.

*Keeping hope and faith alive in nyc*
-Renee

Karen, Please check your email.

OMG DARLENE>....YOU ARE THE QUEEN! That is my beer tooo!! CASES AND CASES!

pat: poasted all around there but thank you. very busy area with the elevated subway running right next to shea. she couldn't handle all of that noise - way too busy. there is marina very close as well which is quiet so we poster there as well in case she may be spooked by the 7 train while over there. we are trying to stay ahead of her - a mile or more. very difficult but we want people to know about her before she gets there.

Great to hear all of you back. To all of you going out and posting and looking this weekend -- a huge THANK YOU. I'll be working on some more posters.

I was at the National Gallery all day with teenagers. I came back and checked the blog and had to look, wait is this the right address? Didn't recognize any names people were throwing virtual things at each other. Now you guys are back and they are gone. Very odd

ROSA: I WOULD GLADLY DO BEER COMMERCAILS BUT ONLY IF THEY WOULD ADVERTISE EMPTY BOTTLES. OTHERWISE, THEY DON'T STAND A CHANCE. :) IT COULD GET UGLY FIGHTING ME FOR A COLD BEER....

Hope all goes well for the flyer posting activities this weekend. Especially hope that there are some Vivi sightings. Thanks for all the hard work! Gotta go back to doing taxes until Monday. Go Mariners!
