Tracking a Ghost

Bo Bengtson, Vivi's breeder, writes:

<<UPDATE AS OF WEDNESDAY NIGHT, APRIL 12, 2006

No news yesterday. Vivi has been gone for eight weeks today. She continues to be spotted frequently by different people in the area where she has been for a couple of weeks now. We are of course worrying about how she’s doing, what condition she is in, etc. Rosa and Tina, who are taking the calls, tell me that a woman who saw her pretty close up today said she was “beautiful” which indicates she can’t be in too bad shape. A 10-year old boy said she was following him for a while, as if she wanted to play, which is also encouraging. We cannot of course be absolutely sure that it’s Vivi who is seen every time, but the descriptions are pretty convincing. If even half of them are correct, Vivi is still around and coping much better than anticipated.

What’s frustrating is that none of the volunteers and none of the owners have caught even a glimpse of Vivi since she was lost. Sometimes it feels as if we’re chasing a ghost, but it’s impossible to discount the evidence from earlier tracking dogs and the many different sighthngs, some of which corroborate each other.

There is also evidence that Vivi has hunted and killed small game in the park. What was found was not even entirely eaten, which would confirm that there are lots of feeding opportunities for stray dogs in this area and that Vivi is not starving.

Jil’s fiancé Rick will go back to NY again shortly and spend a week mainly hanging around the area where Vivi has been seen. Vivi loves Rick, and if she’s calmer and less worried about being chased now we hope she will come to him.

I will post news when I have any, but basically this is a waiting game now. We are hoping that some sensible local resident will put out food often enough for Vivi to come back to one place and eventually feel comfortable enough to let herself be caught.

Thanks for all your kind messages.

    Bo

Rick, my thoughts will be with you. I really hope that she comes running into your arms so you can take her home. What a wonderful gift for Jil (who needs a ring, just get her back her beloved dog!)

I am reading this post with tears in my eyes..
Rick, I do hope she runs right up to you and gives you a big lick. My prays are with you and for Vivi's return to her home in calif.

very encouraging news! love to hear she has been spotted and people are making phone calls when they see her. the flyers are working! i hope rick has some good luck when he is here for the week. i am keeping every body part crossed in hopes vivi will be going home with him. i am also hoping maybe the camera crews won't be following him as they were with jill.

I have a good feeling about this. I hope she finds Rick and gets home in time to be fitted for her bridemaid dress.

This is a very encouraging post from Bo. Bring her home Rick!

I hope Rick's dates are kept very quiet so these camera crews WILL NOT follow him around. Vivi needs to find him all by herself.

Rick, I remember it being said she would eat Mexican food from some of the people each day. Could you perhaps entice her with some good smelling Mexican food while going to the park and any other treats she relates to your time with her.

I sure hope it works. Sounds like you have a close bond to her. Wish you could find that 10-year-old she wanted to play with to tour the parks and area with you!

Good luck. Hope she will come out for you think time.

Thanks for the update Bo. I met Rick in the Cemetary with Jil on their last trip, I hope this trip will be better for him and wish him the best of luck our prayers are with him. Perhaps our paths will cross again. I'll check in with Tina & Rosa to see where they want me to go next week. For now let me wish all of you a Blessed Easter.

Kathleen I agree, keep the media away. I can't believe they followed them around the last time they were here. There's no way Vivi would go to them than. Rick needs to keep a low profile and if it means we don't know when he is here than so be it, we don't need to know everything.

This is the best post in such a long time - what a greyt beginning to the day - I have a good feeling that Vivi is waiting for Rick - Rick get her quick and get that little girl home to her momma.

I also agree - even tho we love to hear everything that is happening - it is for the best that we get only vague messages - which seems to be working

THANK YOU for an update! Many of us only read the blog in search of an update. I will be in London for a week and hope upon my return Vivi is found safe and sound. With the same courage Peter Pan coaxed Wendy to fly, "Think lovely thoughts!"
Carol and her 3 sighthounds from Maine

I'm so glad Rick will be coming back to New York!
Maybe Rick can use a sleeping bag and camp out where Vivi has been seen. I just feel someone has to almost live like Vivi in order to get her to come to them..Nuts huh?

linda s::::Tears here too. It just seems like such a long time since anyone has said anything about seeing the little girl that I'm sniffing as I write this!
God bless Vivi! Rick is coming for you..Love you!
MaryL-California

Thank you Bo for the update. I often wonder if there are sightings as they aren't posted here much anymore. My thoughts are always with you and the other owners. I know sooner or later (hopefully sooner) Vivi will allow herself to trust someone and then make her way home to you all.
I also hope for Sniffles and Biggie.
Keep us posted and if we NY'ers can do anything please let us know.

San Diego will be sending positive/pawsitive thoughts Rick's way. I have no expertise in this, but can't help but agree that it'd be best to keep news of the timing of Rick's visit under wraps so that the chances for a low-key, safe recovery are maximized. I know that nothing would make everyone here happier than to know that Vivi is back in the arms of those who love her.

Hi everybody. I received numerous packages today of flyers and small hand-outs. You all rock, you are fantastic.

For anybody who is interested in picking up some flyers or 3 x 5 laminated cards to hand out at shopping centers on Saturday I'll be at the usual spot - Peck and Utopia - from 10 a.m. until around noon. People will be shopping for the holiday and it's a good time to hand out flyers and make them aware that Vivi is in the area.

Thanks all that have send flyers, hand-outs, plastic covers, little business cards (those are really great) colored posters - if I forgot anything I apologize - the back of my Jeep is so stocked that I'm going to have to take my Cougar out this weekend if I expect to do any shopping.

Have fun Diane. Glad we're keeping you busy :-)

Kathleen & Gail,

I feel Rick's trip to NY can (and should) be used to get more constructive publicity for Vivi. What is needed is for them NOT to hold the press conferences at any of the parks or areas she's been sighted at!
A good way to do it would be to hold a press conference from one of the upper floors of Brian's hotel with Rick looking through a large window that overlooks Queens and he can point and say something to the effect of: "We know she's out there and we're not giving up" and then he can elaborate on the fact that there's been sightings, but people keep trying to grab her and he can talk about how folks need to entice her to them, close her inside a gate, etc. If time allows he can also speak about the dedicated volunteers and need for more to help relieve them, how it's needed for the flyers to not be torn down, etc.
In this way additional publicity has been garnered to keep the public aware that she is still at large, while at the same time the public gets educated on how to get her and possibly other issues can be helped and NONE of it would be invasive to Vivi if they do it this way! How does this sound? :)

Diane, I agree with that but unfortunatly one goes with the other. Once they find out they will be all over Rick as he searches for Vivi. They will not be content with a lttle bit they want to be there when the "big save" happens. IMHO

I agree with Gail. Not only will the press want to be there for the big save, but they will also edit anything that Rick says to suit their needs in creating a great story. In the media, it's all about sensationalism and who has the most exciting story.

I saw he gives the interview from the hotel looking out the window - only it happens after he has been there the week - has Vivi sleeping at the end of the hotel bed and he is pointing out the window saying "she was there, and there and there and......." How does that sound?

Kathy, so much better.......

So glad to hear some good news. I hope the little sweetie gets home soon. Pray for her constantly. Good Luck Bo....

I can tell you from experience that this is a big story and if Rick's location slips out- the press will be all over him.
Unfortunately, with the media it is about getting the big scoop.
Rick should come- not tell a soul, except those closest to the situation- and hope Vivi will respond. Seems she needs peace and quiet to gain confidence.
It has been proven that she is easily spooked- especially if she feels hunted.
With the press will come cameras with bright lights, numerous vehicles, reporters all clammering to be the "first" to break the story- etc...
Do it all in private!!!

Thank you, Bo, very much for the update. Rick, our prayers, hearts, and most positive thoughts are with you every step of the way. I am among those who very, very sincerely hope that the press will not know that he is here and will leave him alone completely to work with whatever searchers he does. Easter is such a special weekend and I feel really good about Rick being there to find and take his "his little girl" home without the paparazzi hoopla. I'll bet Vivi is there waiting for her Rick to come, alone, without press, and to run into his arms. We'll all be thinking of you, Rick, and saying prayers as always. Okay, Vivi, he's coming, get ready!! Great post today... really uplifting and rejuvinating. Keeping the faith, the prayers, and the candles burning! Happy Easter. Marnie in CA

I completely agree with with not knowing the details of the sightings and about Rick's visit, etc. But once she is home, I WANT TO HEAR THE ENTIRE STORY, WITH NOTHING LEFT OUT. I'm sure everyone feels the same way. W
e are all so involved with this and want so much for her to go home.

I want it then to made into a movie and I want us all to be invited to the red carpet premiere.

Very pleased at the latest update...Rick while I cannot be there my spirit is always with you. Lets hope people stay away and leave you alone....for Vivi's sake.
Come on wee Molly and Vivi! Come on out...
Nice to see my friend Marnie back on the blog ;)
Keeping hope alive in Colorado....

I can bet Rick will come and go with not a soul knowing about it! That is they way it has to be, otherwise it is a lost cause.

G in Maine...I am with you! I want a total replay of every moment that we aren't hearing about .... AFTER VIVI is safe and sound in CA.

I get Dogs In Review, I have for years, I have no doubt when Vivi is captured we will have one great article to read!

Happy Easter Weekend to everyone, bless all of you New Yorkers that are doing so much for Vivi!

If only Vivi could talk..that's the story I want to hear :-)

Viva La Vivi! Terrie

I beg to disagree with some of the comments here. Vivi is big news to her owners and to us, but in the big scheme of global breaking NEWS stories, Rick coming to NY is not at all a big deal for the press.

Vivi's ongoing saga falls under the category of a human interest piece and stories such as this are often used as "fillers" on slower news days. Prior to getting into real estate I worked for several years as a v.p. account executive for a major Intl. stock photo house in NYC that had all the networks and print media amongst their many accounts, so I know how these things work. You'd be surprised how quickly a "hot" news item, becomes old news! You'd also be surprised how many news stories get killed for lack of time and space when bigger stories break. That's why I say, keep up the press coverage while you can, use it to Vivi's best advantage at every junction, but do it so that it doesn't spook Vivi out of an area.
When Jill was here I'm cognizant that the reason they did the shoots at the cemetery was because the dramatic visual impact of an owner searching a cemetery for a beloved pet was good press. What should have been done was have Jill go to a different cemetery for the press shoots and then she could have gone to the real one Vivi was at.
The same can happen when Rick comes to town, do a press conference from the hotel as I wrote earlier and then IF the press wants images from out in the field for a more dramatic effect, Rick can go to a park that Vivi is not known to frequent and conduct the shoot from there. Then when they go off to cover other stories, meet their deadlines, etc, Rick can go and seriously look for her. Sorry, but some of you folks are deluding yourselves if you think a bunch of reporters are going to chase Rick around hoping for a big scoop of Vivi's search effort.....when she's found I'm sure there will be a press interest, but trust me at this point the press has much more interest in chasing people like Brad and Angelina for a photo op than they do Vivi's owners! LOL
And keep in mind folks that this is NYC where there are thousands of human interest stories every day, some of which are of much greater importance to the general public, such as child abuse cases, etc. As the saying goes, there are 8 million stories in the naked city.....
Understand where I was coming from now?

Re: Rick coming to town....
I wasn't thinking of the press, more the crazy folks that just might want to be involved in the search and have nothing better to do than hang out waiting for Vivi to appear. Or be naive enough to think they can watch as Vivi goes to see Rick.
Don't think we need to be concerned, I am sure they have that covered.

I don't Diane. I've got the press from Florida calling me about a criminal case we have up here, I hang up the phone on them. Don't they have enough garbage down there to deal with it? I don't trust the press, they will write what they want and twist Ricks words around as far as I'm concerned. We could hash this back and forth all we want but it's not our call anyway. I just hope whatever happens turns out the way we all want..Vivi home.

I meant to say "I don't know Diane" not "I don't".

HEY gang dont mean to be a wet blanket but press following Rick around??? this issues is history to most and therefore should be history to media. I suggest....stop talking about it to minimize the chances of some blog monger/scavenger trying to lure the media in again. hopefully sightings details will be kept guarded secrets until his return to look for Ms VIvi. If she were mine I'd be going crazy by now but the strategy should be no wore thanputting posters out.

HB

I agree with Loretta. It is not worth the risk. We do not want to find out if this is an old story or not. Keep it hush hush please. No one needs to know.
Rick knows what to do, so be quiet as little mice. Pray that the Lord lets Vivi get his scent and she remembers, and runs to him. God has taken care of her all this time. He will lead her to him. Keeping the prayers flowing. Betty

Betty- check your E mail!

It's no biggie Gail, it's all just our opinions and we can agree to disagree. ;)

Ron - where in Colorado are you?

Maybe this is a Passover/Easter season blessing.
It's (just ) my belief that we should all step back now and hold the space for Vivi, Rick, and Jill when they arrive.
Isn't this the second child who Vivi has approached playfully ? She senses their innocent energy maybe..I'm amazed that after all she's been through, even chased by cars and things we will never know about, that she has the resilience and inner strength to trust ANY stranger and be playful.

I agree with Gail (from CT) , I think this time the media would be destructive. They have no boundaries, their selfish agenda is get the story, be "in" on everything . This is the nature of the press, etc. So I'm adding my two cents' worth that my gut reaction is NO WAY. They'd defile the whole thing.

Diane, if we all agreed on everything this would be one boring world. :-)

Diane K-W , what you propose is very valid, I just don't trust the media. It just takes one big mouth. Or even a "mistake". I hope they don't take the risk.

Bo, thanks so much for the update. It is comforting to hear that the sightings continue and are being reported. The New York volunteers have worked so hard putting up flyers and posters to get the word out...it appears to be working. My thoughts and prayers are with Vivi that she can stay calm and safe and quietly find her way to Rick or someone else she can trust.

Vivi Rocks!

I am so glad to hear that Vivi has been spotted recently! She must really like kids; this is the 2nd kid she's approached as per the blog.

Diane, I will see you at Peck and Utopia Saturday to pick up fliers and cards.

Someday, somehow, one of the 1,000's of flyers and cards distributed will help bring the magic phone call! It's just a matter of time until Vivi's extended New York adventure is brought to a successful close! Vivi you rock!

With love,
Tara from LI

>>>Diane, if we all agreed on everything this would be one boring world. :-)

LOL Not to be boring, but I agree with that 100%! :0

God, Creator of us all, in this Holiest of weeks, provide a few small miracles for Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles. Let Vivi recognize Rick's voice, and know that it is safe to go home. Help Biggie and Sniffles to remember their way home, and the take the right path to get there. Heal Dante, Murphy, and their people companions. Hold all the lost and ailing animals in your tender embrace, especially our little trio.Send abundant blessings to those who search for Vivi, and are Your visible presense in this rescue. Keep us all in Your ever watchful gaze, so that we may be restored by peace, and knowing that YOU ARE IN CHARGE! Amen.

Long but beautiful Holy Thursday Service this evening. I had the opportunity to cantor, and took everyone's prayer requests with me. We will have another service the best part of tomorrow afternoon, so I should be praying while you're searching, and then Saturday evening, another chance to cantor. All in all it will be a busy Easter weekend, but I hope it will see Vivi's reunion with Rick. I will pop on every now and then to check the progress. Today's post were a joy to read.
(I'm bummed nothing to be offended about---- yet;0)
Sharon

>>>>>Diane K-W , what you propose is very valid, I just don't trust the media.

I most certainly don't either Nancy, but thankfully the media has been very helpful with keeping the word out there that she is still missing. Can't just rely on posters alone, especially when they keep getting torn down :(

I'm very glad Rick and Jill are coming to NY...but I'm remembering that the sighhound recovery people and KArin, ad Laura have told us that it's usually a "stranger" who the dog comes to....(or a humane trap)

So absolutely great to see another day of positivity and wonderful messages. Let me preface this next question, please, I know absolutely nothing about the geography of NY where Vivi has been roaming, or what the "parks" and weather are like, but because it is Easter and families might come out, and given that Vivi she has approached two children already, apparently wanting to play, would there possibly be more kids and families out playing in the "parks" this Easter time that she might hopefully and possibly be attracted to? This is probably really a dumb, innocent question, but I'm just wondering. I so truly hope that the press/media will leave Rick alone to work his magic with Vivi however he senses is best and so that Vivi senses him there. The Easter season is a time of miracles... let this one be "ours." Vivi, fix your hair and make-up.... Rick is coming to get you, girl!!! So, everyone, Happy Easter and keep the energy going. Thank you, Ron, for the "welcome back." (Wink!) With love, and keeping the faith and prayers, Marnie in CA

Even though I rarely post I too have been thinking about Vivi and praying for her safe return. With all the wonderful people out there I know she will be returned safe. We just need to keep our hope high and continue to keep Vivi in our hearts and prayers

Something I want to share with everyone! Happy Holidays to you and your furry friends!!

A man and his dog were walking along a road The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as
he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"

"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."

The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.

As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."

"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.

"There should be a bowl by the pump."

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man! who was standing by the tree.

"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.

"This is Heaven," he answered.

"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope.
That's hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind."

Good Morning Everyone,
Once again I must thank everyone for their support and forwarded information regarding holistic medicine for my baby, Dante. You guys are GREAT! I don't know what I would have done without you. I'm still upset that Vivi is missing but if this never happened then I wouldn't have all of you in my life right now when I need it the most. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just wanted to give you a short update. Thanks to one of the bloggers, I have been connected with a holistic practitioner 1 hour and 15 minutes from my house. I will be taking Dante to see Dr. Pamela Bouchard at Tender Care Vet. Hosp. in San Rafael, CA on Tuesday. I was very lucky to get this appointment and some strings were pulled to get it for me. Apparently this doctor has a "several months" waiting period for new patients. I am so relieved to have gotten this appointment so soon. Apparently this office practices chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy, western/chinese herbal medicine, suppliments, nutritional counseling, and regular western medicine. Sound like the whole package.
I must admit that I am feeling much better now that I have come to the conclusion that chemotherapy and radiation therapy are not in the best interest of Dante. I feel much more comfortable with the holistic pathway and I truely believe Dante will be much happier as well. He is such a good, sensitive, beautiful boy. I just love him SO MUCH!!
I will update again after his appointment. As of now Dante is doing very well. No signs of cancer, thank God. I will be leaving shortly to take him and Trotter for a nice long walk around a local man made lake where Dante loves to hunt for squirrel, duck and geese. No, I wouldn't let him catch them but he has fun thinking he is going to. :)
Thank you again for all of the support.

Valerie, that is such good news. My prayers will be with you and Dante on Tuesday.
Thanks, Kathy...that is a good one to share, particularly at Easter.

Good thoughts, prayers and white light energy for Dante and you Valerie - in this season of miracles - let's hope Dante is one more of them.

Kathy- That is one of my favorite stories. I had a sort of running feud with a radio personality/evangelist who kept debating the question of whether animals would go to heaven-- the poor man had obviously never been loved by an animal. I sent him that story. I didn't get a reply, but I felt better. (I was also able to match him scripture verse for scripture verse on why I thought animal's presense was a foregone conclusion.)
Valerie- that's wonderful news! One of my babies, not a whippet, had an hemangiosarcoma, and after consulting with a couple vets about the awful "conventional" therapy, I had the fortune to consult with a small animal vet at Michigan State.
She asked how Cyr was acting after his surgery, and I told her he was his spry little self, blissfully unaware that anything was wrong. Dr. O'Hanlon said she wouldn't allow anyone to use a buddy of hers as part of an experiment. (One of the chemo treatments could have left my baby paralyzed if it didn't work.) She told me to support his health nutritionally and gave me some vets names to help me do that. After that she said "enjoy him", animals live in the moment and don't fear death.
Well the nutrtional help and the prayers of many people (including Prayers for Pets) gave him three more quality years. Best of Luck. Many prayers.

Sharon, The evangelist didn't know his Bible very well if he was having a feud with you concerning animals going to heaven. The Bible is very clear on this subject. Romans8:19-21 For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope, because THE CREATURE ITSELF ALSO SHALL BE DELIVERED FROM THE BONDAGE OF CORRUPTION INTO THE GLORIOUS LIBERTY OF THE CHILDREN OF GOD. And in Revelations chapter 5:11-13 it says: And I beheld and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches and wisdom, and strength, and honour and glory and blessing. AND EVERY CREATURE WHICH IS IN HEAVEN AND ON THE EARTH AND UNDER THE EARTH AND SUCH AS ARE IN THE SEA AND ALL THAT ARE IN THEM HEARD I SAYING, BLESSING AND HONOR AND GLORY AND POWER BE UNTO HIM THAT SITS UPON THE THRONE AND UNTO THE LAMB FOREVER AND EVER. Not only do they go to heaven, but they also will be able to talk. How great is that?
BLESSED EASTER EVERYONE...Betty

There's a terrific book by Randy Alcorn, titled simply, "Heaven," that describes what the author believes heaven is like, based on descriptions and clues contained in the Bible. It's a very interesting read and I heartily recommend it.

Based on scripture, the author discusses heaven as a very physical world, a place very much like our earth, albeit an ideal earth, filled with all the sorts of things that are familiar to us -- cities, buildings, trees, animals, etc., even jobs(satisfying ones, fortunately). It's pretty clear that there will be "beasts" in heaven; it's also apparent that we'll be reunited with "ones" and "things" we've loved in this life.

The heaven he describes is a very appealing place, somewhere to be looked forward to. I have no trouble believing that my dog will be there. The real problem would be is: If only one of us is worthy of heaven, my dog is definitely the one getting in, and I had better shape up.

Update on that poor cat caught in the wall in a New York City building.

Hi All! I haven't posted in a while but wanted everyone to know that my old man whippet turned 16 today! Now let's hope Vivi gets home so she can live to be 16+!
Happy Easter to all!

GOOD NEWS! MOLLY IS OUT OF THE WALL! THEY RECEIVED PERMISSION TO DRILL THRU THE WALL AND TOOK HER OUT!!!!! SHE IS FINE, A LITTLE DEHYDRATED BUT JUST FINE. APPARENTLY CATS CAN LIFE UP TO THREE WEEKS WITHOUT FOOD AND WATER.

Just Paul,
Jesus said ANY man that comes to me, I will in NO WISE CAST OUT. If we were all good, there would be no reason for Jesus to have to die for us. Look who Jesus hung out with. Prostitutes, tax collectors, demon possessed, etc. Jesus said He didn't come for the righteous. Everyone is in need of Christ's salvation and it's there for the asking. Just ask, trust and believe. I have no doubt you will be with your dog. And I know your dog is in Heaven.

New post from Bo.....

Thank you Lord for saving Molly. We're patiently waiting for more good news. It will come soon.

What a GREYT day - Molly is out of the wall and a new news from Bo about multiple sightings - this is the weekend for miracles...........and I have a good feeling we're gonna get one soon.

Thanks, Betty. My dog isn't in heaven yet, though; right now he's on the couch watching re-runs. He turned 7 in Feb., so if Julie's experience is any indication, I can look forward to 9 more years with him in this life.

Just Paul,& Bette Layne I agree with you assessment of the radio evangelist-- just couldn't see how he could ignore the mention of animals when describing heaven. He said that there would be animals, just not our "pets". I gave up, he made no sense to me, and just put an undue burden on people whom God had called to be animal caretakers. In my last attempt to reason with him, I told him that if we met in heaven he would know me right away, I would be the one with a couple of cocker spaniels, at least two cats, and a small lovebird on my shoulder.
I think it was Will Rogers that said if dogs couldn't go to heaven, he didn't want to either. He wanted to go where the dogs went.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weather so far this weekend-- it has been sunny, and an unbelievable 76 degrees in Michigan.

Happy Holidays everyone and their furry friends too!! All those wet noses are going to be right in front of the oven on Sunday, I know mine is. Sometimes I think she is going to jump in the oven when we open the door to check on whats cooking.

Paul-I'm very happy your boy is on the couch with you. Your as close to heaven as you can get on this earth with him beside you.
Sharon - You are so right. You will absolutely be with your pets in Heaven. I hear so many people question what they are supposed to do here on earth. Well, Hello, have you read the first book of the Bible? God said to care for His creation, tend the garden, which included caring for His creatures. They are such a joy and so full of love. We just have to face it. Not all so called Men of God are really interested in the truth. I think the word MONEY has a lot to do with it. God Bless

What a wonderful world this would be if every dog was loved as much as the dogs mentioned on this blog are. My family is blessed with two Black Labs who truly fill our days with joy. We are having extra fun this week as my grandson (daughter's German Shepherd Dog) is staying with us while she is in Florida. He is 8 months old and towers over my Labs! Looks like Vivi might be venturing out towards people. Wouldn't it be wonderful if she saw Rick and came out to him! Come on Vivi, time to come home!

One of things I have loved about doing agility these past few years is that every dog there at a trial - and there are usually hundreds- is as happy as that dog can be, cared for, played with, socialized, trained, with a purpose. When I am there for that day it appears that all dogs have such lives. Although AKC requires that dogs be purebreds they have an ILP program where neutered animals that look like one of their registered breeds can participate and be registered for performance activities. My registered Border Collie is one of them, a rescue who probably actually has some German Shepherd in her. Then the other national agility organizations allow any mix of breed. Each year the AKC nationals and I think the USDAA nationals -or at least the Purina Dog Challenge- are shown on Animal Planet so you can watch and see what it is. My main agility dog and I have a bond that I have never had with another dog and I have had dogs every minute I have been on earth, 5 now. That bond comes from working as a team.

I feel that the bond we have with our pets are just as strong as the bond with people. They are family. I have seen people abandon their pets because a landlord told them to. That's crazy. How could you do that? My apartment was sold to Dominion Homes a couple of years ago. They wanted the land and promptly kicked every one out. They wouldn't even give us 30 days, but legally they had to. They even shut off our gas when it was 20 degrees outside. They were forced to turn it back on. I swore I would live in my van, before my four legged children and I would be separated, but God blessed me with a land lord who allowed my children, so every thing was ok. God always provides if we trust Him, and I am trusting Him to bring Vivi and the others home. Just don't ever lose your faith in any situation. He will always come through. He has taken such good care of Vivi and the others. His eye is on the sparrow. His eye is on all of us. Keep trusting, keep believing. When Jairus's daughter died, Jesus turned to him and said, Don't be afraid, Only believe. I am really expecting news of Vivi's rescue this weekend.

Betty,

You sound so much like a person I would love to have a strong friendship with. Your love of creatures and the God that creates them shows through your blogs.

Your statement about His eyes are on the sparrow and on us brought that old hymn back to my mind, "His eyes are on the sparrow, and I know He watches me." How many times I heard my grandmother sing that at church and home. It was almost like my grandmother speaking to me on this blog.

Wouldn't it be so appropriate for a wonderful miracle to occur and all three of these dogs rescued this weekend. This is, indeed, the weekend of miracles. Knowing how much I love my sons, I have always thought how God offered his own Son on that cross to die that we might live an eternal life - even one in Heaven with our beloved pets and other animals. How much more love could a Father show for his children than this?

Dear Kathleen,
Thank you for your response. Yes I do love God's creation and I love our Father so much. Giving His only Son for us is incredible. If people would only realize how much He loves us, the world would not be in the mess it is in right now. He has done so much for me, I could not list it all here. Yes, this is a weekend of miracles and I am expecting them to flow. I am so excited about Easter this year. I can't explain it, but I feel in my Spirit that great things are about to happen. I would love to have a friendship with you too. Just click on my name and my email will pop up. Have a wonderful and blessed Easter. Betty

Creator God,Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End of all Power, we come to You in hope. This week marked Your Passover covenant with the Jewish people, and began a week of miracles. Tonight we comemorate the reckless, and unconditional love of Your Son Jesus, who gave His own life so that death would have no power over those You call Your own. This evening has been filled with Light- the Light of the New Fire, the Pascal candle, and the full moon which calls us to celebrate these holy days. Feeling loved beyond words, we ask small miracles for Vivi,
Biggie, and Sniffles. Bring this trio we have grown to love back to their earthly families. Restore all the lost, and sick, with Your love and compassion.
Hold us close to You so we can be together in this world, and when it is our time, Call us to Your Home.
Send special blessings to "Vivi's angels", and all who dare to be Your compassionate earthly presense.
We praise You all powerful Father, and we acknowledge that YOU ARE IN CHARGE! Amen.
(For all Christians here, let me add our traditional greeting- "He is risen. Yes, He is risen indeed!")
Have a wonderful Holiday. I can't help but be expectant.

AMEN!!!
