Honi Reisman, who is coordinating the Vivi search, appreciates efforts some volunteers have made to obtain 800 numbers. HOWEVER, for expediency, consistency and to keep search efforts centralized, any donated posters should contain only the following numbers:
(917) 647-4848
(917) 626-1374
(516) 776-0923
Search organizers remind volunteers that any and all decisions involving the search need to be made in direct consultation with Vivi's owners.

not to worry about the free 800 number - it is not being used - provided just in case as a small service it was sent out - I do not believe anyone is going to use it on anything.
Keep the faith burning for VIVI
Honi, I emailed the 1-800-Lostdog idea to Bo last night. He emailed me back and said he liked the idea and would forward it on to you. He said it made perfect sense to him. I'm hoping you guys are going to act on it. And maybe you are for all I know. How does anyone expect people to remember these three phone numbers? This is my last post on the matter.
Why aren't I suprised!
Based on something I read here earlier in the day, in a story of another rescued dog,
this may be a longshot, absurd, but, I think we're all pulling at straws:
Does Vivi have a canine "best friend?" If so, what if Delta flew that animal
to New York (in the cabin) with Bo or Paul or Jil (assuming there's been a
recent sighting and an area has been staked out)? Would a very familiar
canine be more of a lure than her human companion? Logistically, this is a
nightmare - California to New York and back - but if the canine scent is a
stronger attraction, this might be another avenue to investigate. I realize
the idea of putting another dog on a plane is probably the last thing anyone
would want to do, but....discuss. Joan in England
Anyone having trouble signing into the BLOG? I think Typekey/Typepad put a HEX on me..lol
MaryL - Califonria
I'm glad you are in at 9 Marty, thank you!
It's the least Delta can do, since they let Vive out in the first place, and started this whole nightmare....
Yessssssss, I finally got through to you guys!
I have almost run out of candles, so I'm off to Wally Mart for a new supply. I hope the news will be great when I get back!
MaryL - California
Kathleen,
I belive she does... Jil said Vivi's best friend at home is a doberman... not sure if it is Jil's dog or not.
Joan in England, as in UK???
Sounds like a great ideal Joan but I can't see the family doing that and I can't see Delta doing.
Yes, UK. I'm an ex-pat American (born in Queens County, raised in Nassau
County) living in England for 11 years, having moved here after living in
Hawaii for 20 years.
I think I read earlier Brian posted that there are some things being coordinated, I'll bet Laura coming is one thing.
Hey YESTERDAY got an email response to the email I probably sent on February 17 to Delta- before I even found this blog. They are still looking for her! yeah right
Well I hope Donna says something to Darlene. I don't think we have anything to lose. Like cynthia we are not trying to change the search but why not have Jil just go look. And we should check out where those pipes are. This could be the answers we have been looking for. She probably has been in those pipes to stay warm. I mean could get laura to take the dogs and find the pipes
joan, did Vivi make the news in England too?
I'll be a little late in getting home to light candles, but will ask my husband to light one. Will send positive thoughts at 9 EST.
My rough coated collie wasn't in pipes to stay warm - she was hiding and spying on the neighborhood from them.
Thank you Rebecca, i'm starting to feel the love already.
YEA RIGHT DELTA. Hey karen I hope you had a good time in Hawaii. I'm leaving in two weeks to go camping for springbreak and it's not to far from where Paul & bo live. My husband said I could take his laptop to check in. Couldn't believe it when he said that. He justs walks in smiles, shakes his head and leaves. I think I am starting to get carpool tunnel(not sure if it is spelled right) from typing so much at this computer
Hey folks, I've looked and looked for the picture of Vivi that I can download and I can't find it.
I've been back thru all the blogs and I guess I'm just dumb. Can someone send me the link or re-post it here?
Keeping the faith that her little black nose will pop up!!!
******* Carpel Tunnel****** LOL :-) I think!
Marty, I'm hoping this is over before two weeks time, and you won't have to take the laptop, just enjoy your camping trip and your hubby.
That is so weird what cynthia friend said. Rosa where are you girl. We are getting the energy going again. We may get down and out but we don't quit
Tara, Told you my spelling is so bad
Lillie, yes, the story made the national newspapers. It's where I found out
about Bobbi and the Strays. The article quoted Bobbi as saying there were
dozens of dogs lost at JFK every year. I blogged, early on, suggesting all
airline crates have additional holes drilled in the plastic part of the crate,
near the mesh door, where cable ties could be attached, thus securing the
door.
Marty, Donna talked to Rosa {New York} go back to last post and read it, very interesting about jIl and red coat...
My 83-year-old father is hooked on the search. He sends several e-mails a day fretting about Vivi's whereabouts. My husband enjoys having extra reading time while I'm following the blog, but he asks every night if it's time to light a candle for Vivi. :-)
I know I said that Jil was wearing a red coat in one of her pictures
I just wanted to add a bit of information on perhaps why no one has seen Vivi today and other days. I have a brindle female who is a bit lighter in color than Vivi and quite a few times I have LOST her in my HOUSE..lol
Some brindles just blend in with the areea. My girl is like a chameleon at times! Mary L - California
I will light a candle at 9pm EST. I have a virtual candle lit now.
Alas, I can't travel to NY to help out with the search tomorrow. Too many commitments back home. Of course I will be praying all day. I hope that we can get updates on the blog periodically on how the search is going. I feel as though I will die of anxiety if I have to wait all day or until Sunday for word of how it is going. I know many of the bloggers will be out searching all day. God bless you all! Can we take some of the money from the fund and supply coffee and donuts to the search crew? Or do New Yorkers prefer bagels? I'd be willing to help fund this.
Good luck tomorrow. Looking forward to some good news.
Gail from IL
Cindy s , go to www.americanwippetclub.net, there are some good photos of her there.
I know that Jil owns a red coat. She was wearing it in some of the pictures at JFK. I wonder if ViVi actually saw Jil
Sorry to have missed so much - had to do an errand. The storm drain just has an opening and might be on the larger side - I mean for a child or dog to get into. A vision is a short glimpse in time - sorry it's not a detailed map - I wished it were so Vivi's sake. But I feel so encouraged, so very hopeful.
Yes Jil wears a Red coat when I met her on Tuesday she was wearing it.
I know where one of these storm drains are, but I'm not sure if it's the right one or not. In any case it's above the ground and there's a huge concrete block on top of it, so it's certainly not the area where Vivi is getting into if indeed she's found another way underground at all. You can actually hear water running in it as you go by in the woods, along the golf course area. Also Rosa said she saw one of the storm drains, but it too was closed.
It might be good for Jil to look there again... I always worry if she's been hurt and maybe found a safe place to hid there.
Wonder what happened to Irene? hope she is Okay.
Maybe there was something that looked yellow - but in any event, I think it is the right area - according to Donna's description and that is what is so hopeful - especially since it hasn't been searched - maybe it is one of her haunts - and the reason why no one has seen her in town again.
Donna, did the pipe that Rosa saw have water running thru it also
She said Vivi saw someone with a red coat and yellow hat. Jil was looking in that area and was wearing a red coat and black hat... just the fact that Jil was wearing a red coat and a hat sounds pretty close.
Did your friend mention if she felt Vivi was okay?
I felt Vivi ventured out of her safe areas to look for food and maybe that's when the sightings have accrued.
I've made the ulitmate sacrifice...I've taken down my "desktop" picture of Jerome Bettis and put the picture up of Vivi stacked on that flat rock (the one that appears on the "Team Vivi" mailing list at Yahoo. :-)
C'mon ya little sh*t...show yourself and let your people take you back home to warm, sunny California! KEEP THE FAITH, everyone!
Maybe when Laura comes - she can tell more about what area. All my friend said was that she hid in a pipe - like a storm drain pipe. But my friend gets the feeling that a pipe is one of her safe places - which pipe is the hard one - it's marshes and a higher road and wheat like grass.
My friend said that Vivi is in remarkable spirits - she is a strong little girl and loves to roam around. Vivi is a survivor for sure. My friend will keep me posted - but she is very encouraged with Vivi's tenacity.
thanks for the update cynthia. you have made me feel better today, would you tell your friend to send vivi out so someone can see our little girl
Believe me - all my friend does is coax that little girl into going to someone and staying in one place - lots of luck with that - that little Vivi is strong willed.
where did everybody go. does anyone know yet when laura is coming in
Would a fabric mesh at one end of the pipes work-- then go to the other end- she could be trapped in the mesh but not injured? just a thought- how big of a diameter are these pipes? DPW in Flushing should have a map of the drainage system. Lighting my candles and sending praise to all you who are searching.
s
Sue P
I thing alot of people are looking.
Yellow Hat? In the photos I saw of Jil, she has blonde hair.
Some of those pipes are like gopher holes- they have more than one exit- before anyone does that they better be sure they know where they are.
5 minutes ...candles, prayer, happy thoughts
OK 4 minutes to candle, prayer, sending light. I also think we should all kiss a whippet or lab...for extra luck at Prayer time! : ) Terrie
It's pretty weird that she said all that about what she saw. It seems to me that they have to send some folks to that area and check it out.
The Pet Psychic said she was seeing what Vivi was seeing... maybe Jil's blond hair was the yellow she was seeing.
Paul, Donna talked to Rosa in New York to tell her. She said that Jil and Rick walked through that same exact area yesturday.. Jil was wearing a red coat...Rosa from Michigan.
Candles are lit. Vivi This is your weekend to go home.
Hi Terrie. Candles a burning here in Michigan..
KISSING MY WHIPPET!!!
3 candles here in baltimore, vivi, sniffles and biggie.
Has anyone heard from Irene? I am worried about her. Haven't seen any post by her.
My 4 are sitting on the couch with my wife. They have heard plenty of Vivi talk at our house.
Rosa, I said the same thing earlier, I emailed her a few minutes ago.
Paul 4? how do you and your wife manage to keep a blanket or bed covers on??
Isn't Irene is most likely out driving around and looking?
Lillie if you hear from her let her know I miss her.
candles here
Hello Everyone,
I need some support right now. Last Friday my whippet, Dante, had surgery to remove a mast cell tumor on his back (lump the size of a pencil tip eraser). The section removed was sent to a lab for a biopsy. I just received the biopsy results a couple of hours ago and I am a total mess. The biopsy showed a Grade 3 mast cell tumor which is the worst and most aggressive type of mast cell tumor. My vet said in 20 years she has only seen 2 before now. I just lost my Rocket-boy (age 16yr.) 1 1/2 years ago and am still grieving him and can't take the thought of possibly losing Dante who is only 7. I have to see a specialist on Tuesday and Dante will need to have a bone marrow biopsy and spleen biopsy to see if it has spread thoughout his blood system. If it has then they can only provide palative care and who knows how long he will have. If it hasn't spread, which I am praying, then he will have to undergo radiation therapy (about 9 sessions) to try and kill any tumor that might have spread down into his muscle below. This will cost me around $5000. The scary part here is that anesthesia and whippets is very risky and we are looking at about 10 sessions of anesthesia to do all of this. I am overwhelmed, shocked, and feel like I am having a nervous breakdown right now. Please anyone who has any insight with these tumors or anything that might help me through this I would appreciate you emailing me directly. I am hurting so bad right now. I can totally relate to the pain and anguish that Jil, Paul, and Bo are experiencing right now not knowing where their precious Vivi is. Good luck on the search for Vivi tomorrow.
She usually checks in after her drive, and fills us in.
You guys are right - it may have been just yellow - yellow hair and no hat - as soon as Vivi saw the people, she jumped down into the storm drain and hid. So it very well could have been just red and yellow.
I can't ask my friend any more tonight - maybe tomorrow she will check in with me on the Status of Vivi - but by then I pray Vivi will no longer be lost.
Rosa, The 2 girls sleep with us and the boy's sleep with our 18 year old son. It seem that we do end up with all 4 at times. Not much extra room in a queen bed. We love them, it's fun.
Valarie, My thoughts and prayers are with you. Try to stay positive
I will Rosa, i also miss Lois but I think she said she is away on business this weekend, and I miss Pamela too, but I know they are all here in spirit, with there hopes for vivi to be safely returned to her family.
Paul I know what you mean. There is nothing like waking up with little whippet foot pads on the back of your neck as you are about to fall out of bed..Sooo worth it!! Rosa
Valerie, All our prayers are with you!!!
Lois is on a trip 'til Monday. Pamela has been posting again. I think Irene is probably looking, but may be exhausted and taking a break. Hi back, Rosa! Got to e-mail Valerie now. I'll print out her post and talk to my vets at work. Terrie
Valerie, You and Dante are in my prayers. Please keep me updated..xoxoxo Rosa in Michign
Marty - in answer to your question, no Rosa didn't say whether or not she heard water in the drain pipe, just that it was closed.
There could be another explantion here too about the pipes. There is a section right near the golf course where there wheat stalks are, where there are huge above the ground pipes that Vivi could very easily have hid in. I person could easily get in there. They are stacked like tinker toys in this big yard that looks almost like a junk yard from a distance. i remember Penny, the mother of the little girl who played with Vivi last week, told me that this used to be an old Indian reserve, where they liked it because it was warmer in this section than others. These big drain pipes are rusty looking on the outside and a good 4 feet in circumference each and if Vivi was wandering around this yard, It's very possible she might have spotted Jil walking along the walkway beside it. From Vivi's vantage point she would be looking at her from a higher ground. This area also is next to the gold course and therefore that open area that the psychic referred to. Just another possibility.
This area runs between Underhill Ave. and Fresh Measdow Lane.
Sorry for the misspells. I should've re-read my post before hitting the POST button.
For those looking for photos of Vivi for identification -
Go to my website
www.carolbeuchat.com
Click on "Galleries". You can copy my stacked shot of her (RIGHT click on the image will bring a menu).
If you LEFT click on the photo it will go to a slideshow where you can see what she looks like running (and playing with her dog family) and from both sides.
Good luck tomorrow. I wish I had such loyal friends as Vivi has!
Carol
Valerie:
I will be praying for Dante as hard as I've been praying for Vivi. Love to both of you.
Donna, Are the searchers checking into this, They have nothing to lose.
I saw quite a few messages directed at me regarding Laura and also asking about Sniffles situation on the prior thread.
I can't recall all the questions, but NO, I did not speak with Bo. Laura is NOT being paid for out of the blogger's funds according to Laura; she is being paid by the family to the best of her knowledge. She was already in the process of making arrangements to come to New York BEFORE I called her.
With regard to Sniffles, the situation is VERY DESPERATE despite several sightings. The problem is a lack of a car and searchers to be present as the trap if set up must be watched by a two-person team (too rough an area for anyone to be out alone). Ashley (Sniffles' owner) only has one person who is trying to help her and no car is available to sit in.
The area is not only unsafe, but if Sniffles is caught in the trap without Ashley or the searcher present, the people who are running the dog fighting ring will most likely get to Sniffles before the searcher or Ashley. The trap would need to be monitored continuously.
They have only one trap borrowed and haven't been able to use it and it's already being requested back by the agency that loaned it out. They were going to set up in the area where Sniffles has been seen frequently, but without a car and a second person to be present, it's not possible.
Ashley could use donations; I sent a small amount a couple weeks ago, but I'm on a very limited income and have already donated to Bobbi and the Strays and the Vivi Fund the bloggers set up so can't really do more at the moment.
I apologize if this isn't the most coherent post, but I hope it's responsive to the requests.
I'm glad to know that people are lighting their candles; mine has been going for quite awhile now.
As always,
Pamela, Do you have any idea when Laura is to arrive in NY
No, Paul ... Laura wasn't sure herself as she was still in the process of making arrangements, and she has to drive up from Maryland. She's trying to see if Sam, her assistant, can also come.
I believe she'll be there as quickly as she is able; hopefully by Sunday or Monday.
thanks Pamela, your doing an awesome job
Pamela could you please post an address I can send a donation to help Ashley. Thank you......My heat goes out to that poor girl. Rosa
Heart.
I am afraid Irene got her feelings hurt the other night. Some people were kind of hard on her. I hope she comes back, after all she has been here from the beginning. She has a very big heart for Vivi. Irene Vivi needs you now more than ever. Maybe people could e-mail her.
I just read about poor Dante ... will say a prayer, Valerie. Candles for Dante as well as Vivi, Sniffles and Biggie going.
My email program doesn't allow me to click on a link, and obtain an email address or I would have contacted you to offer my support, but I'm always happy to have email contact if you want someone to talk to. I can be reached at pmarrache@msbx.net.
As always,
Pamela thanks for all you've done and what your doing now!
I too will light a candle for Vivi, Sniffles and Biggie and all the other lost strays.
I wish there were some way I could be in New York to help, but I am so far away in Memphis, TN.
Reading and worrying about the lose of sightings for Vivi has been very upsetting today, but reading about the trials Ashley is going through with her dog so near such terrible harm in this neighborhood is just too upsetting. I'm going to have to leave for a while.
Ashley, I pray Sniffles will be okay. These dog fighting rings are so terrible. Here is hoping Vivi, Sniffles and Biggie (and any others) will stay a long way away from these. Please watch out for your own safety as well.
God bless you all. I feel so "useless in Memphis."
Kathleen Stephenson
I know Irene has been here from the begining, I've been lurking from the begining. Irene is a great person to have here. She has a big heart and alot of passion for Vivi. It would be a big loss not to have her around here.
