"Trying his best to hype it all"? Are you kidding? You go on to say just sentences later that he was embarrassed by it all -- which is it?

David Archuleta could no more hype something artificially than he could sing something artificially. There was nothing hyperbolic at all in his attitude or efforts.

And while you're at it, you might stop headlining him as "giggling." It serves no purpose other than to advance your obvious eagerness to be snide and condescending. He's a dorky kid with an immense talent and a refreshing dose of genuine humility.

I guess that's too real or not clever enough for you to cover without staining the report with your foul attitude.

i knew the kid is a very, very special talent, i knew he is gonna be huge, i knew he continues to inspire folks world wide, we all knew his powerful pipes, but i never realized the producers and label managers would pick a debut track that is corona light and catchy and oh so radio pop friendly!

one thing i can tell you man, if and when this archuleta kid hits manila, our entire city comes to a halt, then a shortlived deafening silence follows, until THE chaos and non stop screaming engulfs the entire city!

That kid is truly adorable! It's fascinating to see someone with such immense talent and still be the sweetest, most humble kid around!

The song was great. Very playable. With his sweet, sweet vocals and harmonies shining through. I think I've played it 53 times today while at home. David was more worried about his fans than himself during this interview. You did do us proud, old and young alike! No question about it! The kid is happy, genuinely happy. But no more "giggly" references please. Save that for his fans (and we are not all 12 or have 12 year olds....those references are getting so old!!).

I see some of the negativity is still there concerning the media. As far as the giggling comment goes...I have heard enough of that. Giggling is for a 3 year olds and David laughs just like anyone else does. Since when is laughing a crime?

OMG! I absolutely love his new song! I can't stop listening to it over and over. The interview was ARCHUDORABLE! I just can't get enough of this kid.

David is such a delight - as a person and as an artist. His reactions are so authentic (no attempt to be "cool" or "affected"). He is genuinely anxious to please and is also very excited that his dreams are coming true.

Snarky comments at this point are like trying to throw a thimblefull of water at a conflagration. There is no way to douse his "fire".

I think he does a fine job - especially since most people have a tremendous fear of speaking in public (much less on the radio to thousands of listeners). In fact, more people are afraid of public speaking than of dying. As Jerry Seinfeld said - at a funeral, most people would rather be in the casket than delivering the euolgy.

Give David the credit he deserves. He did an outstanding job on this interview. He is an awesome talent and I LOVE Crush!

Archie hit it outta the park!!!!! Believe me when I say there were tons of us Archies up all night (and still up) - chatrooms blazing across the US , from Guam, Singapore, Japan, Canada, the Phillipines, India in nervous anticipation of this debut - and we all feel Jive has done our “Crown Prince” proud…. this is the beauty of him being 17 years old - the tiger is yet to be fully unleashed, and this debut goes a LONG way in silencing the critics and detractors who wrote him of as being unable to appeal to a “mainstream” pop audience…. BRAVO DAVID….

I love David's single Crush! It really showcases his beautiful vocals. He has such a velvety smooth lower range starting out and reaches high in his chorus. I really love his harmony mixes. David has a real feel for that. The song definitely showed his R & B side. I loved it! We'll probably get so more of that, I hope. Yeah, I also don't get the hype commnet. All you had to do is watch David's pure excitement and joy while listening to his song. David doesn't do hype. Wonderful voice and wonderful person.

I preordered 7 of his CDs already and I plan to pick up at least three more in the stores to gift family and friends and of course myself. I'm proud to be an Archie. I WATCHED THIS MORNING'S VIDEO OF DAVID'S SINGLE DEBUT..AND THERE WAS NO HYPE ON HIS PART....THAT YOU CAN BE SURE OF.. As others have expressed, he was visibly shaken with emotion listening to his very first song being aired on the radio for all his fans (and relentless critics) to hear...it was an emotional moment, to be sure....but certainly handled by this 17 year in a manner that most of us adults could never muster...and THERE WAS NOT ONE GIGGLE IN THE INTERVIEW...I HEARD ONLY LAUGHTER ALONG WITH THE OTHER STAFF MEMBERS...laughter shared by the group because of this special moment in his career.
DAVID I AM SO PROUD TO HAVE SHARED THIS DAY WITH YOU...THINKING OF YOU FONDLY...ALWAYS.

The song is great!! Its catchy sound serves well with the younger generation, yet Archuleta's clear and distinct sound will let everyone else enjoy it no matter what genre they're from. Indeed this song is a good way to start a budding career for a young man like David. It showcased his youthfulness yet did not undermined his pure talent. David, you have proved and continue to prove your critics wrong since you stepped out the idol stage. e are proud of you and will promise to support you all the way to the top!!!!!!

Congratulations, David! This song has been running through my head all day long and I just can't seem to get enough of it. I'm 26 years old and I LOVE the song - so your fear that those outside your age group won't feel the song is unnecessary. Your interview was also entertaining... your excitement and nervous energy was infectious! Waking up at 4:30 a.m. for your interview and single was truly worth it!

Rascal... you must not understand... let me try to explain it for you... to be "someone" in the music industry nowadays requires the following:

1. Bad boy/Bad girl behavior (such as forgetting to wear your underwear, etc).
2. Regurgitating hits from the 70's, then claiming originality.
3. No talent. Why bother being on key when there are machines (and crafty studios) to do it for you?
4. Lip Syncing on such shows as Saturday Night Live (due to rule #3) or when you're on tour.
5. Tipping off the paparazzi that you're about to go to the grocery store (again, without your undies on), then ranting about how intrusive the paparazzi are.

There is NO room for:

1. Talent. Especially LOTS of talent.
2. Humbleness.
3. Generosity.
4. Accessibility.
5. Expressions of genuine joy.

AMAZING!!!!! This guy just gets better and better every day. WOW!!!! I love EVERYTHING he does. Best voice I believe I have heard...EVER!!!!!!! And what a personality.....David Archuleta = Prince Charming :)

The way I see it is that David exhibits a joy for life and holds nothing back. Describing his manifestation of that joy as "giggling" would imply a preference for reserve and keeping up appearances - which would make David just like everybody else in the music industry. David is truly special and I think the commenters here (all of varying ages and backgrounds) recognize this and appreciate the free spirit and authenticity in David.

"Crush" is an excellent choice for a debut single. The interview was entertaining and I did not witness any attempt on David's part to "hype" his single. In fact, he spent most of the time expressing his concern over whether his fans would enjoy it. I am an adult fan and find this song to be truly addictive.

It's now early morning in Orlando ~ and I've been listening to "Crush" off & on since its debut yesterday! Just want to add my "BRAVO DAVID" to all these wonderful congratulatory comments! We LOVE YOU David and are SO PROUD to be called your fans! We are all in this journey together, and will remain your adoring fans forever! Never change ~ we love you just the way you are! :)

The way i see it, about(take a look at the many polls) at least 95% of all who heard the song loved it.the remaining 5% are those who just plainly hate david for no good reason, or they do love the song but just cant bring themselves to admit it.oh well,their loss.DAVID CRUSHED US ALL!

David has a broader fanbase than ordinary people think. I am in 40's and there are many older folks like me. He has proven over and over again, he is the best vocal in AI season 7. AI turned into a popularity contest rather than a vocal contest, and negative media publicity and manupulation led to the wrong result. But it may be a disguised blessing. Without the pressure of being the champ (and often endless complaint towards the champ), his talent soars high. During the tour, his set showcases his strong vocal talent and the best set among the bunch. 'Crush' is just a start of many songs he will sing, and he will show soon how versatile he is musically.

What a stupendous debut for young David, in my view the new Prince of pop. Absolutely love his music and he need not have worried. It has everything - appealing to young and old alike. It leaves me wanting more.....can't wait for your album, David!!

David is not only a brilliant singer, but also a great guy. He has his feet on the ground, and the love and support of many fans from all over the world. He is a rare talent just really starting out and has much to give to the world. He has the ability to stay strong in his convictions and beliefs but at the same time is so generous with his soul. This is a VERY difficult thing to accomplish. David is a rare gift and should be respected as such!

David's song is fantastic, I never expected anything this fantastic as the first single. This is a perfect song for him and up it will go to #1. David if you're reading this, my fave song on Idol was "You're the Voice" but now this replaces it as my favorite. I can't wait for your album. This song will hit the charts quickly....David-if you are reading this...this song is awesome. You are going to be huge in the music industry and you are one star I know will never let it go to your head and become snobbish because you are a good feeling person, and I will be purchasing everything you do. We all know you were the best singer on Idol this year, and as you can tell by the amount of press, you really did win the public's love more than anyone else.
