Rocker Lenny Kravitz, who's being romantically linked in the tabloids to Alex Rodriguez's wife Cynthia, issued the following statement today:
"There is absolutely no affair between Cynthia Rodriguez and myself. This is unequivocally 100% not true.
Cynthia is a friend and is here with the godfather of her baby, who is also Alex's trainer, his wife and their baby girl. She came here to escape from everything happening in New York City. I opened my home to her as a friend and I find it extremely hurtful that I am now being referred to as an adulterer."
Kravitz's straightforward denial may put to rest one aspect of this week's circus around A-Rod that started with doormen whispering about late-night visits to Madonna's apartment and escalated to reports that he and his wife have separated.
It's the first plain-speaking comment from anyone who's been sucked into this maelstrom--as we head into the long 4th weekend, maybe we can all declare independence from what our opinion columnist Ellis Henican has dubbed "the new era of 'maybe-news'".
