Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Tyra Banks plant a tree along the bike lane on Ninth Avenue and 18th Street Wednesday afternoon. The event called attention to Bloomberg's PlaNYC Million Trees NYC Initiative, which is aiming to plant a million trees throughout the city by 2017.

Just because Mayor Bloomberg is rich doesn't mean he's not crooked.

Consider the bike-lane/cement island monstrosity Bloomberg has built on 9th Ave between 23rd Street and 17th Street . . . with no one's approval but his own.

It is universally despised by residents, business owners and drivers and reeks of scandal.

* Nobody asked for it, nobody wants it. It was rammed down Chelsea's throat without notice and without debate. Bang, here it is, like it or lump it. A complete sneak job.

* It has created a bike-lane on the west side of 9th Ave where cars used to be able to park and a cement island next to the bike lane where cars now park.

* The bike lane is used during the day once every ten minutes or so, if that much. Meanwhile, five lanes of car traffic have been squeezed into two, cutting traffic flow by 40% and causing serious congestion and noise, especially late at night on weekends.

* Cars now have to park in the middle of the street within the cement island. That has reduced available parking spaces by a third on blocks with no left turn, and left only two parking spaces on blocks with a left turn.

* Delivery trucks, unable to use the bike lane, must now park around the corner from the store they're delivering to. This causes untold hardship.

* Worse yet, store owners report a serious loss of car business from drivers who used to pull over to pick up a paper, a cup of coffee, a sandwich, etc. Look who billionaire Bloomberg's stealing from -- the little guy with his life savings invested in a small business.

What's more, this scandal has cost tens of millions of tax dollars. God knows how many Bloomberg cronies have lined their pockets. Remember: Just because the mayor is rich doesn't mean he's not crooked.

This is a total outrage.. The media is either unaware of it -- despite its being in plain sight in the heart of midtown Manhattan -- or is protecting the mayor to smoothen his presidential and/or third term aspirations.

Wake up, New Yorkers! Your street is next!
