There's no place like home

At the spot. Drinkin' with the boys. Seeing the family. Rolling with old neighborhood friends at old neighborhood hangouts as if no time had passed.

Oh the joys of coming home again.

The Season 5 finale of "Entourage" nailed that sentiment, and at the perfect time of year. I've always been a huge proponent of the parallels between when a show airs for the first time and the actual time of year it is.

The first four seasons of "Entourage" aired during the summer and it completely enhanced the show's carefree, live-life-to-the-max attitude. When Season 5 was delayed because of the writer's strike, I wondered how that would affect the way we subliminally compute this season in our brains.

But Season 5 wrapped up with the boys coming home to Queens, to family and friends and the old bar (and that subtle placement of a New York Islanders pennant on the wall at Drama's new bar), four days before Thanksgiving.

Seeing Vince, Johnny, E and Turtle sitting around the Chase dining room table, with friends and family coming in and out, I was reminded of days of yore when me and my boys would come home from college for the holidays (this was way before Facebook, and right around the time e-mail was rolled out en masse to colleges).

The new stories we told from college. The laughs we had from old high school stories. The looks we got from our parents when we came home after 3 a.m. slightly more inebriated than when we had left the house and how they couldn't really do anything about it anymore.

I still remember exactly how Mama Pat's ziti tasted after a 2 a.m. reheating at Lawyer friend Steve's house. Or how Mama La Monica would wake up when we came home at 4 a.m. from a night in the city and just start cooking for us like that scene in "Goodfellas."

I can't tell you what we did any of those nights while we were out on the town. But I remember everything about being with the crew at night's end. These are the moments that, as we get older, we'll reflect on fondly when episodes such as the Season 5 finale roll along.

I am a huge fan of the show but is it just me or did last nights episode not do it for you? Yeah of course it was nice to see Vince back on top with Marty, but the writers of the show missed a huge cliffhanger for next summer when E and Vince made up. They should have left us hanging with that. Great season, decent season finale.

Did you see the shout out to the Islanders right over E's head in the bar scene towards the end?

I couldn't agree with you more TJSund, I was definitely thinking E and Vince would not make up till a few episodes in next season.

I guess this season was really about seeing the hard part of the business, and next we will see all things going right for Vince. Should be good though.

And Michael Phelps was in the episode all of 0.2 seconds! I didn't even recognize it was him at first.

Well said and dead on Mr. La Monica....

written by an entourage wannabe

this wannabe is as bad as all the bridge and tunnel carrie bradshaws that invade the city every weekend. vinnie chase you ain't.

Mark LaMonica - I don't know where you heard it was "four days before Thanksgiving" in the "timely" show. I re-watched it just to make sure I didn't miss that fact, but besides that, all the people in Queens were dressed in summer clothes - shorts, short skirts, tank tops, bikini tops, sleeveless shirts etc. Plus ALL the trees were filled with full, lush green leaves. That's not November in NY! So either you screwed up, or Entourage did.

LaMonica likes to think he has some keen insight on Entourage. Unfortunately, he gets a little delusional into thinking people believe he has a life just like the guys on Entourage. He and "his boys" and "Mama La Monica" and "Mama Pat's"....blah....blah....blah. He'll probably claim to have a friend named Tortoise and a friend who they refer to by some vowel... geez, this guy is so pathetic.

I want to know why if they were in Queens, there was not one car on Vince's block outside his house?? Have these people ever been to Queens??
