And we've got a name for Turtle!
Sal!
Say it with me now: Sal! Sal! Sal!
And we've got ourselves a first name for Turtle. It only took 65 episodes. This is the biggest character development for Turtle -- oopsies, Sal -- since he met Ari to have the suits back him getting Saigon a record deal.
Are we surprised it's an extremely Italian name? Nope. Are we surprised it took a sweet girl in a romantic arc to get him to reveal it? Nope.
But I was always of the belief his first name would be Anthony.
Isn't it funny how when even the hardest or most wiseassest of men will confess just about anything to a woman they really like, especially in those early stages of courtship? I think Turtle is falling for Jamie-Lynn Sigler pretty hard right now, at least based on what we've seen so far. His guard is dropped down lower than Roy Jones Jr. in his prime.
Next up: Mrs. Ari!

One might say that that finally gave Turtle his real name because this is the first episode where he truly came out of his shell. Turtle's life is on the upswing and we found out that it truly was his support of Vince (not E or Drama) that helped Vince make it to Hollywood. Despite my adoration for E, I have always felt that Turtle- aka Sal- was more loyal and a better friend.
So, it is appropriate that we should find out his name in an episode where he starts to truly come into his own.
Where there is smoke, there's fire. And tonight's episode of Entourage was hot.
With the fires raging in Calfornia at this time, a movie, even a fictional movie in a fictional tv show, is very current and aprapos.
But, alas, Smokejumpers won't be coming to a theater near you anytime soon. Why, you ask? Because production of this film just went up in smoke!
That's the bad news. Equally bad is that this film was to be Vincent Chase's (Adrian Grenier's) return to the big screen. This once hot actor was blazing a trail across Hollywood. But, since the disasterous Medellin, he hasn't been able to reignite his career.
The good news is that, despite the fact that hot head Verner fired Vince from the set (what the heck, Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly)? why didn't you stand up for your boy?), the whole movie has now been put on the back burner. So, rather that it looking like Vince was let go because his acting was less than inspired, it will be just another example of a movie that went over budget by burning thru money too fast
Verner's combustable persona saw fit to that when Dana Gordon (Constance Zimmer) and Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) confronted him and led him to bust up a meeting with the studio owner. After that, it all went up in smoke and Vince, Dana and Verner all got burned.
Meanwhile, Turtle aka SAL (Jerry Ferrara) found himself back in LA play'n with fire with Soprano's star Jamie Lynn Siegler. Will these two continue to keep this new flame going next season or will Vince's career extinguish this budding romance the same way it smothered Eric and Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui)?
Next week, Vince and the boys head back home to Queens, NY to a warm welcome home. With Season 6 confirmed, I have to believe that, like Phoenix, our hero will rise from the flames and be hot again. But, based on the previews, it looks like things will blow up even more before that happens.
Let's hope Doug Ellin puts a fire under production and we start getting sneak peeks from the set again in February 2009. Because, if we thought waiting for over a year to find out what happened with Medellin was unbearable, this is going to make it seem like that was a day at the beach.
Yeah, I couldn't believe he actually spilled the goods. Definitely surprised he was the one that got their life in LA started, and I would agree that he's probably the more loyal friend. He must definitely be falling for Jamie-Lynn, not that I'm complaining.
funny to see turtle dropping his guard ... but man please take of at least your hat when you are with a lady
jeez
I think its cool that what I've read in the past month that Jamie-Lynn & Jerry Ferrara are actually dating in real life. Major props!! Great ep. too! Can't wait for the last ep to take place in Queens. My buddy actually showed me the street where they filmed the ep, over by his house. Glad to see they actually came to Queens to film instead of pretending somewhere else that had the "feel" of being in Queens.
I read that Jamie-Lynn and Jerry/Turtle/Sal are together now. Not sure I believe it yet (hey, i saw it on Page Six) but it could be true. Of course, I'd be insanely jealous, but that's why therapy is for, right?
Mrs. Ari's name was revealed in the first episode ever. He says it to E when they are at dinner Irena Kirova is her name.
Don't get me wrong, this has been a GREAT season. However, as someone who covered Hollywood for years, this season suffers from a reality flaw. There's no way you can star in Aquaman (accd to the show the "highest-grossing superhero film of all time"), make one bomb movie, and then get shunned my Hollywood.
Leo followed "Titanic" with "The Beach," and is still making movies today. Nobody makes Leo audition for roles or made him take second lead; he became more selective, sure, because he
didn't want to be overexposed a la Depp after Jumpstreet (the whole teen heartthrob thing). In Hollywood, big stars make big bombs all the time (what was that Russell Crowe Italy movie?)
and they still work, provided they have a chance of making money again, which in Vin's case would be yes, because of both QB and Aquaman.
Movie jail only happens after a major drug incident (like that Jail Break guy who killed someone behind the wheel), a string of bombs, or when there's a perceived stink of failure (Travolta before Pulp). Travolta post-Pulp proves my point again, come to think of it. Some hits (Face/Off) some misses (Battlefield Earth), but overall he's worth his $25-million-a-pic price because when he hits, he tends to hit big. Look at Wild Hogs. Wait, don't look at it, it sucked, but look at its bottom line. Very profitable -- enough for a sequel.
