Katie Couric for Larry King?

katie-couric-getty-images.jpg
I've got some reasonably big Larry King news here, friends, that could well affect the future of one Ms. Katie Couric, so listen up.

CNN has just re-upped the septuagenarian newsman to a new deal that will keep him at the network until 2011 - this, first reported on TVnewser.com late yesterday. "Twas expected and re-upping LK to one more contract is NOT "big" news.

But this is: King did not secure a guarantee to continue anchoring the 9 p.m. hour, which - I am reliably told - opens the door wide for Couric when she leaves CBS after the inauguration, as she almost certainly will.

There are a couple of things that seem to be going on with Katie that everyone save the man in the moon now knows about. First, she's miserable at CBS which she thinks has stiffed her on resources and turned "Evening News" into the same old-same old nightly network news show. She wants out, but is certainly in no hurry - recognizing, perhaps, that it's harder to score a meaningful gig if you're on the beach, and that (after all) CBS would have to eat $40 million-or-so of the remainder of her contract if it were to pull the trigger instead.

larry-king.jpg Here's the other thing: That she'd be happy to entertain an offer from CNN. Without giving Larry a lock on 9 p.m., CNN is finally laying the groundwork for a 9 p.m. succession plan and in fact, CNN appears to have the luxury to do so: Its first quarter ratings were the best in years, and the one-time whipping post of FNC is finally doing a little butt-kicking of its own. There's a simple reality factor at work here as well: King'll be 75 this November, and while we can all agree his tenure has been a remarkable one, nothing - and no one - lasts forever. Nor is anyone untouchable in this business - even Walter Cronkite, whose exit from the anchor chair was assured in 1981 when Dan Rather, then a superstar, forced the issue.

Does Katie have the same clout to move King aside? This speculation of Katie-for-Larry has swirled around for years (most recently re-cycled in the Times package of two weeks ago.) I remember chasing it during Katie's last two contract go-rounds at NBC, when she let it be known that she was bored and needed new challenges, including the possibility of a syndicated Oprah-like talk show launched under the aegis of NBC. She had the good sense to back away from that, but CNN beckoned, in part because of Katie BFF Wendy Walker Whitworth - "LK Live" exec producer and a real power broker at the network.

That's the background. When the Katie-out-at-CBS story broke a couple weeks ago, CNN - with remarkable haste - signed King to a new deal that will carry him through 2011. But Larry effectively was given the kingdom without getting the throne. Sure, he'll be at CNN - but at 9? The answer to that is the only one that matters.

Possible flies in the ointment of a Katie-for-Larry swap? Foremost, would she want the gig? Again, I'm reliably told, yes. Would CNN consider her "damaged" after the rough ride at CBS? I hardly think so while she could argue (maybe with some justification, maybe not) that she didn't get all the resources promised, etc.

Also, Lou Dobbs. Never count Lou Dobbs out - there's no cagier, shrewder, harder-hitting inside operator in the entire business than LD who probably has his eye on 9 too.

Anderson Cooper? Why unseat a sure bet at 10? That means you've got a problem at 10 that you've gotta fix. Plus, AC's turned into a solid anchor-reporter - why waste him on David Blaine or Paris Hilton?

I've got a call into King's agent at William Morris, John Ferriter - no return yet - and yes, I called CNN. Christa Robinson, the network's spokeschief, said this: "Larry King is the best there is. He will be here for a long time. We are refuting in essence what you are speculating."

But did you guarantee Larry 9?

"We do not discuss contracts."

[Meanwhile, an update! I see that Ferriter, in fact, responded to TVnewser's request for a comment on the iron-clad 9 p.m. lock question. Said he, "I can tell you that it is a two year extension of the exact same deal and job that Larry has been doing." As most of us semantic experts can plainly attest, that's neither a denial nor confirmation. It's a dodge. So, I'm waiting for a call-back, Mr. Ferriter. Waiting and waiting and...]

I'd rather see Campbell Brown take the 9:00 PM slot. She is talented and sexy. And Wolf Blitzer needs to go as soon as possible. As for Katie, I think she should go back to the morning show format.

Give the job to Katie. She's being wasted sitting in the so-last-century Walter Cronkite/Dan Rather chair.

You want to know WHY ratings are falling at CBS? Because Katie Couric is there. People are getting sick of the left-leaning bias, and Katie Couric is one of the worst. So, personally, I would love to see Katie Couric take over CNN. Let's see if she can wreck two networks and still find a way to blame it on them.

Lou Dobbs should get the best time slot that CNN has to offer. Period. Katie Couric is too biased, ultra-liberal, and in no way can be considered a news reporter.

Have Lou Dobbs, Anderson Cooper, Brit Hume and Brian Williams. Talk about knocking Fox News out of number one.

Half the country does not agree with Katie's liberal agenda, but tolerated her on her morning show. I don't know how the TV business works but it seems that hiring someone who loses half the market immediately by her reputation would not be good business decision...

Please give the 9PM to Beck!

Katie was expected to do something her male predecessors have been unable to achieve: Lift CBS out of last place.

Critics forget that Couric worked her way up to TV news anchor before she ever hosted the TODAY show.

And, while one can argue whether hers is the right "personality" for the CBS Evening News anchor slot, the first heads to roll should be the supporting staff who have kept the program in the cellar throughout most of the post-Cronkite era.

If CNN is simply a place for Couric to land, it won't be a good fit following the initial ratings spike..

If CBS is not truly behind Katie and vice versa, I'm not sure joining CNN is the ideal exit strategy.

This is one all concerned ought to think through.

Can't really comment on Katie's worth because I stopped watching ANYTHING with her on it after the 1996 election coverage. Her insanely biased interviews of Clinton (softballed) and Bob Dole (insulted and bullied) changed my opinion of her forever.

Lou Dobb's act is old. Constant griping - he's destined to blow a fuse internally really soon. The Situation Room is the best thing that's happened to CNN and Wolf Blitzer is great, Jack Cafferty is another matter however. Anderson Cooper can't compare to Aaron Brown and Candy Crowley is a poor second to the long departed Judy Woodruff. CNN has blown out some really good people and bringing in another sappy woman would be a big mistake even though Larry King is pretty much up there with Lou Dobbs. What they need to do with LK is make it more audience oriented - start having some programs that are all audience call ins. CNN's farmed out some people they should have kept and kept some real dinosaurs.

I Dont care if she is naked,Never would watch that leftist wench!

I will NOT watch Ms. Couric at all. She is just not a natural and thinks sooo highly of herself. I am just sick of her "perky" style. What about Natalie Morales or Campbell Brown for the postion? They are both great.

CNN deserves Katie as their going out of business Hostess!

Nothing like having a passel of liberals running things. The news you get at CNN is a unbiased as that of the NYT.

Say Goodnight!

I am old enough to remember all of Katie's jobs. I didn't like her on the Today Show nor any of the other news jobs she's had. I have never watched her on the evening news. I prefer Charlie Gibson. So, it doesn't matter what time CNN gives to Katie, I won't watch her. CNN should understand that there is a core group of us that can't stand Katie out here and not give her any time slot.

I like Katie Couric. I never watched CBS until she arrived. Now, I either watch her or Brian Williams. Katie would be perfect @ CNN's 9PM.

Katie Couric is awful and that's why the ratings are bad. I'm not sure why CNN would even think about her. She is terrible at anything of substance. Too fake, too liberal, too annoying. And she's NOT attractive.

Dick Quest isnt doing much these days, why not put him in at the 9pm slot, since CNN is now the "anything goes" Channel. Their left wing bias and hiring practices are firmly in place so why not put the best in there?

I agree with some of the other posts here...Katie Couric lost me long ago when her true, super liberal colors showed in her interviews. Such a huge difference when she interviewed liberals...nice, friendly questions...compared to the conservatives...mean spirited, rude, argumentative...and her smile disappeared with conservative guests. So please don't call her a journalist...one who reports the facts with no bias....that would be laughable in her case. I hope she does go to liberal CNN, she'll be a perfect fit there with the rest of the lefties. She'll help sink that ship even faster than it already is. I suggest she just take early retirement and enjoy those millions she already has. But I'm sure someone will take her thinking they've got a real winner. Wrong.

The lady has legs! I miss seeing them during interviews in the morning!

I agree, I miss Katie in the mornings, but Meredith Vieira was a good replacement.

I agree, I miss Katie in the mornings, but Meredith Vieira was a good replacement.

I'd like to see CNN newsman Don Lemon replace Larry King. Don is insightful, intuitive, sensitive and completely without ego. Traits that Couric doesn't display.

as someone in the business for many years i have seen loads of katies. there is nothing special about her.....shes just someone else thats gotten into the business and keeps going up the ladder no matter how bad she is.
the worse she is the better the jobs...and more money she'll get. i have seen it over and over and OVER.
i have seen stations destroyed by people who had a way to keep getting in somehow and excuses when they finally got thrown out.

funny thing about the media business....even in this time of everything being so PC.... its still who ya know and who ya blow.

katie should be working in some small market somewhere doing portuguese weather LOL.

I turn the channel when Larry King comes on.... He puts you to SLEEP !!... I LOVE: Lou Dobbs... Anderson Cooper... Glenn Beck..

I don't mind Wolf Blitzer.... BUT he works enough hours..

CNN is pretty horrible overall, especially if you watched any of it this year. MSNBC is the new champion and the only reason to watch cable news.

I don't care when Katie comes on, I will never watch her. I am old enough to have followed her career. I saw her on the Olympics and a couple of times on Today and that was it for me. I like Good Morning America and I love Charlie Gibson for world news. I regularly watch Larry King, Anderson Cooper, and all the others but I can't stand Katie.

I love Larry...

He is the best there is.

Hail to the KIng!

How about that! CNN, AKA the 'Communist News Network' looking at yet, another far-left socialist to feed us more propgaganda than real news.

So what else is new?

Couric is an airhead leftist with the typical agenda of the left, promoted by CBS, which has always been that way. The scream at the very suggestion of any limits on the First Amendment but work constantly do destroy the Second and disarm the citizens.

Why not give Lou Dobbs the 9pm spot since his ratings are fighting Kings, back and forth, for tops at CNN? Instead, CNN moved his 11:00pm rebroadcast (Eastern Time) to 4:00am to reduce his exposure because of his much more moderate and truthful conduct of news.

Sorry, folks, but people who watches CBS OR CNN (or their "Hate America" cousin, CNN-International) to get their version of un-biased news should turn off the tube and get out more!

Lou Dobbs is a pompous butthead. Wolf Blitzer is a winey ball baby. Couric is cute, cudley, and I love that smile. Oh yeah, Larry King needs to be put out of his and our misery.

Like MOST people, I'd rather watch a TEST PATTERN than "The Perky One"

She is the MOST PHONEY, NAUSEATING, NO TALENT blubbering mouthbreathing NITWIT on the air. I can't help but wonder how many times ole Les Moonvees thinks about all the IMUS money he no longer gets, while watching the huge payments continue to go to "The Perky One" while realizing the WORST RATINGS IN CBS HISTORY.

WAY TO GO PERKY.....*SPUTNUM*

CNN could put a fax machine in the 9 PM slot and get the same results.Or put Rev Wright along with Jesse & Al.

For Kathie Couric to take over the Larry King show would be a huge mistake. Mr. King’s success has been predicated on his willingness to show the up most friendliness, warmth, balance and respect to his guest. This is the main reason that anyone will come onto this show. Whether a person conservative or liberal, a celebrity or the most hated person in America, they will come onto the show because they know that the host is friendly and will give them a fair shot. When I considers watching the Larry King show, I know that the interview will always be fair and respectful. This is how all viewers of his show feel which explains his huge ratings. But to the contrary, how do many people feel about Ms. Couric’s style of interviewing? I do not feel that she is fair to conservatives but is especially mean to them. I know that when she interviews someone that I like, the interview will be horrible. Ms. Couric is the main reason that some conservatives will not go on the Today show or do live interviews. Now although a lot of people may not agree with conservatives issues and may not want to hear them, the bottle line in the news biz is numbers, primarily attracting a large group of people. Ms. Couric turns off a lot of people and causes any network to lose viewer ship.

Another reason why Ms. Couric is not a good fit for the Larry King show is that she is a horrible with interviewer. What I mean is that she is not consistent with her style of interviewing and will change her style depending on who she is interviewing; sometimes throw softball questions at people when she should go hard. For example, when President Clinton was in the mist of denying that he had an affair with an intern, First Lady Hillary Clinton was on the Today show to defend her husband. Now there is nothing wrong with a woman who defends her husband if she things he is innocent and when Mrs. Clinton made the statement that her husband was being attacked by a “right wing conspiracy” I can respect that. But when it was determined later on that the affair really occurred, the person who interviewed Mrs. Clinton, who was Kathie Couric, never sought out another interview to follow up on that false statement. Ms. Couric allowed herself to be used to put propagate a lie. Ms. Couric never did a follow up question about Mrs. Clinton’s statement in the follow up interviews that she did. Ms. Couric has done several additional interviews and, to my knowledge, has never followed up on that statement. This is a great example of Ms. Couric’s poor journalism skills.

And my last point about Ms. Couric is that she presented CBS news in a very bad light in a article that I read which discussed her personal life. The article stated that Ms. Couric and her boyfriend went on a weekend vacation. Now, I know that this is the 21st century, but it does not look good when a single mother of two teenage girls is going for a getaway with her boyfriend. In addition to being viewed as “mean and vicious” she is not allowing herself to look very good.

And with regards to CNN and their ratings problems? Well I think that CNN focuses too much on style and lacks substance. Instead of us hearing that CNN will focus on present news that is current and balance, they talk about who they will choose to peddle the latest story about bio degradable packaging for cat food as their second story. Or CNN news people will spend a great amount of time talking about Bill O’Reily at Fox News. Yes Fox news does have their people who are conservatively slanted, but those people are not the hard core news people like Chris Wallace. You have the serious news people like Lou Dobbs taking on the opinion shows at Fox. That makes no sense. The one thing I do like about Fox news is that if it happened that day, and is major news, then it will ALWAYS be on Fox News that night. Fox hardcore news shows will always report the top story of day. Can CNN say that? No! When I come home in the evening, I want the news of the day. The major broadcast use to always report the top stories of the day but they have changed. People turned to Fox when CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN stopped reporting the news. A prime example is what happened with Matt Drudge and Michael I. for Newsweek. When Newsweek refused to report that the President of the United states was being investigated for lying about having an affair with an intern, the alternative media picked up the slack. Matt Drudge became the Woodward and Bernstein of his area. Newsweek’s refusal to report this news story turned the public off from turning to the traditional media and turned us onto alternative media. Even though NBC brings in 7 million viewers, this number is a pittance of what they use to bring in every night (approx 25 million). Yes I do know that some of the drop off has occurred due to alternative media, but the major broadcast stations like CBS and journalist like Kathie Couric have sped up the decline with their poor journalism skills and focus on style of substance. This is the reason that people like Kathie Couric are floundering and will not bring in huge numbers. Ms. Couric, if you want to increase the number of people who tune into your programs, then you will have to change your style, move from being a news person of style and shift to being a person of substance,, current substance, who reports news in a friendly fashion. Good luck Ms. Couric.

From knowing people inside CBS News, Ms. Couric brought this on all herself. She brought in all of her people from NBC News, didn't give a darn about the history and traditions of CBS News, and lastly, her folks treated the CBS people (from management to ops) like dirt. All this blame to go around, but it should go right to the top, Ms. Couric.

I like LK and hope he continues on for several more years. Katie is a good reporter...I'd definately watch her interview the variety of guests CNN offers....at least let's see how she does for one week....Anderson C. would be another choice. AC could easily handle comedians as well as serious guests, and I love his laugh!

Bill Bennett should be on at 9. He is the most interesting guy on CNN during every election coverage special. Plus actually intelligent.

Who Cares

If CNN gives Katie ANY nighttime slot, it would be a disasterous move. There's a reason she failed at CBS, and CNN should take heed. Our positive view of her (what's left of it, anyway) is due to the fact that we've pidgeon-holed her as a perky, smiling, morning person. NOTHING is ever going to change that. Her trying to be deadly serious as an anchor is just too jarring.

However, giving her Larry King's duties won't work either. She's no Larry King.

Nighttime news just doesn't suit her. Katie just doesn't have the gravitas to pull it off.

How about Dobbs going to anchor the CBS Evening News in a trade for Couric going to CNN for an evening show ?

Let's leave the 9PM "Blank" We are sick and tired of bobble heads.
In fact, let's have a 1-year moratorium on TV taking heads, period.
jack

WOW I so Agree with the many post. I thought I was the only one who did not like her. Can you say FAKE. or RETIREMENT.

The post above that said she already alianates 1/2 her auidance the moment she appearfs gets it RIGHT.

Her Super Ego needs to take a rest. Stop Blaming Others Katie... YOU ARE THE PROBLEM... not CBS.

Lou Dobbs and CNN (Clinton News Network) have lost what little objectivity they had. They are competing with Faux News for most biased coverage. Just let 9:00 be filled with sports, games shows, funniest home video, and bloopers . This can be rotated. Anything but these bobble heads that have turned news into a forum for their opinions to "spew" like unbridled vile.

These TV stations just don't get it... People just don't care for her. She makes me cringe... so annoying. I won't be tuning in that's for sure.

It has become painfully obvious that Ms. Couric's niche in life is happy talk on the morning shows. She can't help CNN as that ship sunk long ago. The best "prime time" news show is Brit Hume on FOX especially the panel discussion during the last 20 minutes.

Beck at 9! He's the man.

Larry is ok, Katie ok too not for CNN thogh, she has seen her day. Wolf Blitzer is horrible, he talks to much, asks questions that are too long and stumbles all the time.

Give Lou Dobbs whatever he wants!!! Forget Couric and her liberal agenda and while you're at it get Blitzer a Walmart Job App!

FORGET IT....I DONT SEE COURIC AS A SERIOUS JOURNALIST!! HER PERKINESS SHOULD JUST RETIRE.

Either leave Lou Dobbs where he is, or dump him . . . a true loose cannon on the deck!

no one cares about the COMMUNIST NEWS NETWORK cnn][

Glen Beck is the man - love the man!

Larry King is not a journalist. Katie is more of a personality than a journalist. Larry is left of center but not quite as left as Katie.

Katie could do Larry's job and not lose any ratings. Larry's ratings aren't that great to begin with, though.

Who cares? I will continue to watch FOX anyway. FNC can't be beat.

Hey CBS! Wanna raise your ratings? Replace Katie with re-runs of "Alf"!!

Katie's days have long been over. She had Matt Lauer carrying the morning show for a long time.
I think it would be a big mistake to take Katie on CNN.
The ratings on CNN ar low as it is, Katie is not the answer.
Stay home with your kids, Katie.

Personally, I've never understood the attraction to Katie Couric. She's a terrible speaker, a terrible interviewer, and her teeth are so distracting to viewers. Besides all that, she is so full of herself. I watched her one time, many years ago when she first joined NBC. Never watched her but maybe twice after that. It was enough for me. Now, I only know about Katie through what I read, and I skip as much of that as possible.

The reason Katie's news is tanking is because CBS gives away 90 minutes to local affiliates for local, crappy news....so after 90 minutes of re-hash. The public can't sit for 30 minutes of national news. The Networks have lost their brand..National News and have given it to local so-called news casters. Here in Syracuse it's nice to know that on News Channel 9 it was reported that the Dali Lama was on his way back to Tibet!! ( he's in exile)

Ken

Putting Katie Couric on at 9:00 p.m. would just drive up FoxNews ratings. Katie has two things going against her. See obviously reports to far to the left, but the more important item against her is she is not likable. Larry King is getting old, but he is still likable.

I don't watch CBS because I hated how they made Katie's arrival a circus! This is serious news, guys, not entertainment.

I have been getting more and more uncomfortable with Charlie Gibson and ABC's administration and staff. Since that last debate, I have stopped watching ABC altogether since they seemed more interested in Gotchas than exploring issues.

Now, I either watch NBC's Williams or more likely go to PBS's World News Tonight and the web, newspapers and blogs for a variety of interpretations both left, center and right. I'm 68 and I seem to know lots more in depth about what's going on than my network news, local newspapers friends.

Katie, in my opinion, does a great job - I watch her because I like the content of her evening news show more than the other networks even though I like NBC's Williams and Charlie Gibson- can't understand why so many comments have been to trash her except that the conservative stint seems to come attached with an accepted vitriolic bashing of anyone who does not see it their way -
I don't have any liberal friends who spend all of their days and efforts bashing anyone ...........and promoting an opinion/agenda of being "better than the rest" (my mother used to call it "holier than thou") - I have read most of the comments listed and I find them sad and disgusting that anyone would put into print voices spent in anger and hurtful comments - there is a way to say you dislike someone that does not include a "dirty fight"...
America is better than that - prouder than that - more self respectful of that - or at least I thought so -

So who is Couric sleeping with? I can't pretend I ever liked her, or having met someone who did. So I can't explain why she is able to stay on the air.
By contrast, Vicki Lawrence was beloved by everyone who came in contact with her. Even though talk show hosts are not my cup of tea, I remember how irritating it was every time a female friend shouted at me how wonderful Vicky Lawrence is.
Don't take me for a Vicki Lawrence fan, but I do have to recognize plenty of other people besides Couric who could do the evening talk show thing better than her/

Katie Koran - spokeswoman for the AlQaeda should be relegated to a Lindsay-Lohan-like status. In fact, they can become BFF's and roommates and we can screen their cat-fights which will garner better ratings than anything the witch can produce by herself.

Hate her gummy smile too....

Katie.

No No No!! - No Katie please! - I do NOT like her and she does not deserve the 9:00 slot much less deserve to even be affiliated with CNN - Larry King is the BEST !

Why are we supposed to care?

They are all failures in their own right. Couric is a total FAILURE as a news anchor, King is no big deal (just a softball interviewer; not a journalist), CNN is a ratings loser and a compromised news agency, CBS-News is third rate. What else do you want to know?

I do not know anyone that will watch couric no matter where you
put her.. .worst person to ever be on TV....read the book that
in barnes & Noble.....and its ten times worse than what he wrote.
Les Moonves should be fired for even considering hiring her. CBS
has cut republican's out of audience completely...they will never
again watch this woman after the elections she covered....this
along should have told moonface not to hire her.

NO LOU DOBBS PLEASE !!!!!!

HE IS VERY BIAS, ACCUSATORY, DISRESPECTFUL OF PEOPLE HE BRINGS TO HIS PROGRAM, BLIND RIGHT WINGER. hE SHOULD GO TO FOX.

LOU DOBBS IS AN ANGRY MAN. I TRY TO LISTEN TO HIM, BUT HE MAKES ME ILL

If you look at the shape of Larry King's head in the photo, it looks exactly like a space alien.

Let Ms. Couric sit it out and continue to draw her $14,000,000 per year. She is much too old to attract any audience and her personality stinks. As I remember she bumped Jane Pauley off the Today program as Jane was too old looking. I never agreed with that decision, but it would be just desserts for her now.

I watch PBS New Hour for my news, so put whomever you like in Larry spot. CNN has turned my stomach with Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Bill Bennett and now Tony Snow. It's becoming the retirement home channel of the NeoCons has been crowd.

Katie Couric has zero talent. I would like to know who she blew to get in the business in the first place.

If they are looking for something people would actually watch, LOU DOBBS.

Everyone else at CNN have been infected with the New World Order and becoming propaganda spokesholes for the elite in Wash, DC.

Campbell Brown would be pleasant on the eyes, but I'm afraid that her sexiness would distract viewers(at least half) from the in depth focus on the guests.
In fact, it could distract the guests as well & then it gets watered down to an "aw shucks" kind of interview with subtle sexual distractions -something that sure doesn't happen with Larry.

But definitely NOT Katie!

Andre, you make my points. Great Job. But I would add that if Perky Katie would not be a great move for CNN, by all means, CNN please put her in! Anything to continue to prove to the world the lack of credibility of this washed up biased "news" agency is ok for me. Larry King Alive is nothing more than a celebrity obsessed show that has a audience a fraction of the size of Hannity which actually tackles real issues. Tuning to CNN for news is like tuning to late night Spike for sports. It's ironic that Communist China is now trying to Sue their greatest news ally.

I am kind of tired of people that use the term BFF. I think the term dumb downs things to the level of generation text, but with that said, it is not accurate. In the media business no one has a BFF. If you want a BFF in the media business, get a dog!

This question doesn't pertain to me, I have never watched much of CNN anyway! I guess that is why it's on the dinosaur watch.

Larry should stay right where he is. Lou Dobbs???? Good Lord, that old fuddy duddy needs to shuffle on over to the Faux News Network. He is so filled with hate, he is in a constant state of crimson red. It really shows on HD. Creepy.

CBS needs to get someone in the anchor chair that comes across as competent, unbiased, and natural. Lester Holt from NBC comes to mind. I think that he is the hardest working man on TV news, he seems to be on NBC all the time. He'd be great at CBS, maybe he'd relieve them of the perceived left - wing bias that was only exacerbated with the arrival of Katie Couric. The problem is primarily with Couric, she is perceived as too left wing, too full of herself and not authentic. Note that the Today show did not miss a beat after her departure. Get Lester Holt CBS!!

Why does CNN hire loser anchors that have either poor ratings or have been fired,(Campbell Brown,Kiran Chetry)? Both anchors mentioned
don't do their homework. They merely read scripts and try to appear
interested to the camera. Katie Couric would be #3! By working alongside each, the above is an honest account of their work ethic.

Why do you refer to Larry King as a "newsman"? He's at best a bland talk show host who pitches underhand to his celebrity guests.

As for King being "the best there is," that's hilarious considering that during his interview with the two surviving ex-Beatles, he called Ringo "George."

King isn't even one of the top 25 TV interviews of all time. And for anybody who wants to watch one of the best, get some tapes or CDs of the old Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and let a master show you how it's done.

I gotta say that is a good post
