"Lost" doesn't return for a couple more weeks, but that's all the more reason for producers/ABC to start playing headgames with fans right...about...now.
As "Lost" headgamers know by now, ABC has been running a poster of the show that features a reflection of a big city in some lagoon; cast members are staring straight ahead, and behind them - a stand of palm trees. Why aren't the trees reflected? Obviously a cute visual cue to remind viewers that last season ended with a flash forward that took place in some large city; pretty sure it was LA, but I'd have to go back to watch the episode again. Some speculation that it was New York too because Jack was (apparently) reading an NYC paper (Oh, and by the way: If you want a better shot of the one that I posted here, which crops off the city top, then go to DarkUFO.)
In any event, here's the game: What city is this? Again, probably LA, but...might it be Chicago? That tower in the center looks like the Sears one while the buildings arrayed around it look a little bit like the vista from far out on Lake Michigan.
Whatever...and this is what "Lost" does to your head - play with it.
Meanwhile, I've got another blog posting on this mystery, responding to the VERY CONSTRUCTIVE comments that some readers have made. Go here to check 'em out.

Hmmmmmm

It was LA. Jack was working (if you can call it that, between oxycontin heists) at his old hospital. I think the TV station that carried the news of the bridge accident was an LA station as well.
Pretty sure it was L.A. -- in fact, I think Kate and Jack met at the end of the ep near the L.A. Airport.
The city in the poster is not L.A.
LA doesn't have any skyscrapers like this near a waterline. Not even sure if the author of this post has actually been to LA.
Does Portland have a skyline like this? I've read an interview by the producers of this show who say that Portland will have a major role in the show this year. Could this be another of their foreshadowing games?
It's probably Tallahassee.
What's even more interesting is the weird dark circle (or upside down 9) in the middle of the water just below the O and the S in LOST. What is that?

isn't that Charlie to the far left?
MILD SPOILER(?)
The "weird dark circle (or upside down 9)" is probably the number 6, which would represent the "Oceanic 6", the survivors who actually make it off the island.
The person on the far left isn't Charlie, it's Ben.
Wait, why would Ben be in the picture standing next to Sayeed?
Could be a combination of cities?
What about Singapore?
it's definitely LA...you can make out the Bonaventure Hotel and the US Bank building's distinct outlines.
What about the beam of light from the top left corner...does that symbolize something from before or is that a possible supernatural symbolism? Oh yea, can whomever wrote about the Portland thing link the interview that they're talking about? Thanks!
I can't wait for the season to start!!
As someone stated above, it's Los Angeles, and as you may remember, that was where the plane was headed originally, which would make sense. you can see the US Bank Tower, Aon Center, and the Wells Fargo Tower very distinctly. It's a shot from what looks to be facing north west, as opposed to the normal shot we see in most photos which is pointed south east and generally from Hollywood. Someone really took their lives into their own hands heading down to East LA to get that shot...
Really studying this though, there aren't that many clustered or for that matter, spread out skyscrapers in the Los Angeles skyline, it could be all about the angle that it was shot at, but I'm beginning to agree with one of the posts above that it could be several cities, but I have to say, I don't think that the "water" that the picture is in has anything to do with the cities location at all. If anything, the opposite side off the Los Angeles skyline reflection would be palm trees and hills, just like the cast is standing on. As always I'm certain that I'm reading too much into this. Sigh... Only eight episodes...
it's not Portland Oregon anyway...that is were our spooky, lady doctor friend came from (the one with the soft spot for Jack and is good with a Glock)
My guess is that it's a bunch of cities...or maybe its a plug for Cloverfield...or an image of the guy that killed Kennedy, or the UFO that those zanny Texans saw, or maybe Bigfoot. He used to creep me out when I was a kid...
I'm with Richard...only eight episodes?
