Oliver Platt to Play Nathan Detroit

oliver-platt.jpg

With all due respect to Oliver Platt, I think that we were all hoping for a more exciting person to play Nathan Detroit in the upcoming GUYS AND DOLLS revival. But then again, given his large physicality, he could possibly provide a very classic and comic interpretation of the role.

Platt received a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in Conor McPherson's SHINING CITY. He can be seen in several upcoming films including Ron Howard's FROST/NIXON as Bob Zelnick and the Harold Ramis comedy THE YEAR ONE opposite Jack Black and Michael Cera. It was also confirmed that the revival, to be directed by Des McAnuff, will play the Nederlander Theatre, which was home to RENT for 12 years.
