*Fear not another Broadway strike. At least we can be tentatively hopeful about that. Actors' Equity and the Broadway League just released a joint statement announcing that the two factions have tentatively agreed to a new 39-month production contract. The terms of the new contract have not been announced yet. Bravo for not letting Broadway slip into another strike!
*A pipe dream of musical theater fans has finally come true. Playbill.com reports that Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO, an experimental flop musical which is hardly ever performed nowadays and is remembered only by a 30-minute original cast album, will be rerecorded with a 50-piece orchestra and all-star cast including Nathan Gunn, Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Norbert Leo Butz, Judy Kuhn, Liz Callaway and Marni Nixon.
*Daniel Davis, who was booted from the Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES three years ago under less than friendly circumstances, starts performances tonight as King Lear at the Shakespeare Theatre in Madison, NJ.
