Is Danity Kane breaking up? Is Aubrey O'Day leaving?
For Danity Kane fans, last week’s cliffhanger on “Making The Band 4" was a doozy. Diddy has a summit with the “Damaged” gals and tells Aubrey O’Day, “I don’t want you in the group no more... Anybody else that want to go with her can go with her.” Then, in the previews for Tuesday’s episode, he says, “She’s not going to be in Danity Kane. There’s nothing else to talk about.”
Did Diddy really ax Aubrey, arguably the group’s most recognizable member? Or is it a stunt for publicity. I’d bet on the latter, but who knows? When I talked to Danity’s Dawn Richard in August – around the same time this meeting went down – the plan was for the group to be on the road in October. They aren’t.
At the time we were talking, I obviously didn’t know about the meeting. But looking back on our conversation, there really weren’t any signs of a breakup. Here are some highlights:
Q: You’ve got some stuff on your own coming up. Is that where you’re heading or will it always be the group first?
A: I always put Danity Kane first. I speak for myself with this, but I will always put Danity Kane first. Danity Kane will be here as long as Danity Kane wants to be here. It’s hard for me and the girls, for everybody, to have the same agenda, but for me, no matter what, it’ll be the group... It’s my baby. There’s so much to conquer in this industry.
Q: What’s up next?
A: We have a tour that we’re supposed to get on in October. We’re working with Dollhouse Jeans. The Danity Kane comic book is coming out. We’ve got a lot going on. Agendas. Between us as a group and individually, Danity Kane as a brand is doing great things.
Q: With all that you’ve accomplished, when Diddy comes around and starts giving you guys grief ...
A: Everybody has a different relationship with Diddy. I don’t really get grief from Diddy. When we talk, we’re cool. He’s like “What’s the next project you’re working on? Do this with this hook or do that.” When I have a conversation with Diddy, it’s always musical. Everybody knows the relationship between him and Aubrey. They have the headbutt-to-headbutt relationship. Everyone’s different. It may be the boss to client. It may be just a faraway kind of thing. Either way, he’s always going to bother us because he’s Puff. (Laughs)

Dawn you just need to keep your mouth shut(especially when you coo BABYoh BABY to Q !) and keep on babysitting your little boy! Aundrea remember back on the show, Who helped you learn your dance routines? Who, was there with all the encouragement and pats on the back? You need to go back and watch some if the earlier episodes.Voice or not I don't think you'd even be in the group today w/o Aubrey. And Shannon, Shannon who? boring, boring, yawn! As for Diddy, never again willI I or my friends watch another episode w/o Aubrey,buy another CD without Aubrey,or spend another cent on anything SEAN-JOHN!!If we fill this way and we assume millions of other fill something like this, Soooooo DIDDY QUIT THE BITCH-ASS-NESS!!!!!!
This response is to James, stop hating on Diddy. He has built a huge empire/name and its all from hard work and dedication. Its apparant that you have no goals or ambitions in life if the only thing that you can say negative about this man is his diamond earring which by the way I'm sure cost more than a years salary for you. Don't hate, appreciate and applaud this beautiful black positive man.
My comment is to Margi and James, u guys are straight hating on diddy and what he is doing.. Congratulate him on making them girls in to celeb women. Dont down the group for diddys decisions and I think they will accompish a whole lot more in future with or without Aubrey..

I'm making short. Dawn didn't say anything in that meeting when they were put out. Shannon and Andrea did. Dawn is all about herself, she's two-faced. I see that now. Diddy is so unprofessional b/c he only put DWoods out b/c she got caught in his wrath. Aubrey was only doing what he asked. Trying to have a discussion, and Bad Boy Diddy doesn't like anyone saying anything to him. He treats his people like lapdogs, and gives them a pat on the back everynow and then.
I will not buy another DK album. I purchased the 1st two when they came out but if DWoods and Aubrey are not on the next one I won't buy it. I will not purchase anything else from Bad Boy label, or support his shows. If I thought what he did was right then I would,but I think the whole thing could have been more respectful and professional. You don't just say to someone who has made you money you're out the group. That's stupid.

Ok simmer down you guys... I personally think that there is some stuff that is going on behind closed doors and definitely when the cameras arent around that we dont know about or will ever know about. Diddy can be a tyrant sometimes, but he is a business man and if you dont want to buy his cologne,clothes,or any future DK albums (if there is still a group left) then don't. Even on the season finale, Aubrey said there were things that have happened that we wont ever know and frankly it isnt our business. Aubry has changed and I would be upset too if I invested millions into a group and one starts to let the fame swell up that head. I'm sure Dawn did speak up but you guys have to remember that MTV has a knack for great editing. DWoods... I dont get that one. This isnt the first time a group has broken up, we just happeed to see it on tv and have been following them for a few years. It wont be the last break up so just chill. Peace...
I just want to say that DK is not the same with ALL 5 girls in the group. I do agree with Diddy when he says that Aubrey is not the same girl. She has gone a bit slutty since the beginning. I know that people change but her image is going towards Girls Next Door and not DK. I'm not hating on her but she needs to understand that is not a image that DK wants and does need to tighten up. Just as others have stated she is one of the well known members and her image does matter in the business.
And I do want there to be more Making the Band the show is entertaing and I want to see how this all plays out with Dawn and Que. And also how DK issues affect Day 26 and Donnie. I do believe that int he end they are gonna pick a side.

Maybe he's flippin' it on us! Maybe they're outta the group because now they're gettin' solo deals with Bad Boy and now there will be season 12838473 of MTB and next years season will be finding who's going to replace Aubrey and D. Woods.
He's gotta stay relevent on TV. That's where he's making his money. After this year's season, what else is left? He's gotta make drama to have another season. Plain and simple. I'd be doing the same thing if I was him too.
I agree with Diddy. Aubrey has let fame go her head beyond belief. And remember when Aubrey and Aundrea were like best friends and had that entire montage at the end of the 2nd season where they cried over each other and all that crap.
Aubrey messed up. D. Woods...is she even a prominent member of the group? Whatever.
I'm glad Audrea, Dawn and Shannon are left. These 3 need the push. Especially Shannon. She gotta voice, she can dance herself to death, and yet she's the quiet one? Ahh well.

People have a right to say when they feel like thier boss doesn't appreciate them.....that's all that was between Aubrey and Diddy. Diddy didn't like what she said and it's his label, his money and his group...he can kick out who he pleases. From what I read Aubrey has a "reputation" and who really wants to be associated with that. There are alot of young women out there who look up to these women. I feel where Diddy coming from.
Aubrey let the fame get to her head. She used to be my favorite back from when the girls were competing to be in the group. But then she got all into herself; she lost too much weight after the group came back from home to get things going and started acting like she was this huge celebrity. Aubrey needs to stop being hungry for attention and remember who she was from the start. Aundrea is my favorite as of now. She really stayed humble and sweet and has the best personality&voice. I just hope that she stays strong even with all that they are going through now. I have the utmost respect for Diddy for being a realist. He saw that Aubrey had changed since the group's success. Everyone needs to stop hating and blaming others when aubrey is to blame for her own actions and dwoods probably did not want to stay with danitykane, because if she did want it she would have fought to keep her dream alive. I'm tired of everyone hattin on Diddy. HE MADE THE RIGHT DECISION, I'm tired of Aubrey acting like she's the star of DK. Why is she jealous of Dawn, when she's doing broadway. Aubrey needs a makeover asap. She is not the same person Diddy signed and the fame is getting to her head.
