Natural wonders on display at Edwing D’Angelo
The spring fashions were white hot at Edwing D’Angleo’s runway show at the Westin hotel in Times Square on Friday. Multi-ethnic models wore crowns of twisted braids and trotted down the runway in looks inspired by Antartica’s glaciers. "My line was inspired by Antarctica and how we need to preserve it," D'Angelo said.
While his fashions were nature inspired, his use of racially diverse models was the designer's way of making a statement to the fashion industry. "With all the social and political changes that we're going through, it is important that the fashion industry understands that things have changed and we need to start pushing for change at all levels, including on the runway," D'Angelo said.
