Suze Yalof Schwartz, Glamour mag's executive fashion editor at large, has an interesting take on how to get a salary hike. It's basically, this. "I am going to buy a Peter Som outfit and go into Cindi Leive's office (that would be Glamour's top honcho -- the editor-in-chief) and have my review. Then she's going to know I need more money."
This, of course, Suze says (at least partly) in jest after Som's terrific show at the tents on Monday. "He is glamour. There are almost invisible details -- peek-a-boo netting, hidden panels -- and it's all so chic and interesting. His clothes are for someone who really cares about fashion. He understands women who live the provocative lifestyle, who want to go out and be seen." And then the Aha! moment: "They're for the senior editor." For the record, Suze is one of fashion's most down-to-earth gals, and folks like her distinct lack of haute hype. As for the raise? Maybe Som (whose stuff is pretty darn pricey) will lend her a look. -- Anne Bratskeir
