A One Brand Man

It’s nice when a designer believes in his product, and Patrick Robinson, the newish executive VP of design at the Gap certainly does. He told us that since he’s been at the helm of the company – he started last May --he has worn everything Gap, every single day, “including my socks.” He looked darn good in jeans and a v-neck sweater and pointed out his rugged-meets-chic Pierre Hardy desert boots, also from the Gap. Robinson, who hails from big labels –Armani, Perry Ellis, Paco Rabanne – is one cool cat. Cool enough to keep his Sunday afternoon presentation closed for a few extra minutes so he could meet one-on-one with fashion royal Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue. "Anna at the Gap? How absurd," exclaimed one not-so-in-the-know fashion type. But then she may also not have known, Robinson has an in – his wife, Virginia Smith, is Vogue’s fashion market editor and accessories director. – Anne Bratskeir
