What the ...?

By Korin Miller, amNewYork

This seaon's Perry Ellis show featured models draped in muted tones, with the exception of a few splashes of pale yellow and light orange. The event was an overall blend of whites, browns and just plain washed out colors.

But Ellis Chief Designer John Crocco apparently decided to get a little avante garde with some of his fabrics. One plastic-looking semi-sheer blazer sailed down the runway on a model (it was actually a poly tech blazer in cloud, according to the official release), followed by plaid pants with a sheen. The shiny fabric also popped up on a shirt and a pair of trunks.

It's doubtful this '80s revival-style fabric is going to catch on with the everyday American male, but who knows? Robinson avoided wearing his noveau fabric when he appeared for his final bow. Smart man.

The event was devoid of celebs, save for the ever-faithful menswear fan Nigel Barker.

Just an idea Korin.... If you are going to blog about Fashion and the industry you should probably have a general idea of what you are talking about. Patrick Robinson has not been involved with Perry Ellis for over five years! I thought the show was beautiful and well edited, Crocco's use of color and fabric was both modern and classic at the same time.
