Staring down style

By Korin Miller, amNewYork

Peter Som's packed-to-the-gills crowd filled up every seat, row and standing area possible. Fire hazzards for fashion!

The show didn't even get underway until 35 minutes after it was originally scheduled (it's not even close to Baby Phat's unapologetic record of one hour, but still...).

Som's styles were gorgeous, but fashion-loving patrons appear to be losing patience with the long waits. "I don't even think this is worth it," griped the man next to me. "I wonder if I can just run for the exit now," his friend responded. Too late! We were surrounded by a zillion fashionistas. Good luck trying to navigate those oversized handbags!

Still, there's something about watching hundreds of heads turn in sync to check out a model as she saunters by. Anywhere else, we'd all be ostracized (or slapped) for our lil' staring problems. But it's Fashion Week, baby! Anything goes!
