The man behind the last official show of Fashion Week is just hours away from his big moment. And it couldn't come soon enough.
"It's finally, finally here," designer Tadashi Shoji said backstage. "I'm so nervous!" The Anne Klein crew is celebrating in the neighboring backstage area - loudly. It doesn't seem to be helping.
Known for his pageant gowns, Shoji said this season's collection was inspired by "sea waves and nature." Take notes, future Miss Americas! The Japanese-born designer said his team actually wrapped things up yesterday at 4 p.m., leaving time for him to attend a Bergdorf Goodman party and go to bed early.
And, did he have his Wheaties? "I had tea," he said, and a craft services sandwich. Breakfast of champions!
