National Enquirer broke the news late Wednesday morning that Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer and has about five weeks to live.
Later in the day, Swayze's rep confirmed the news about pancreatic cancer but said the five weeks to live is exaggerated.
"All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic," rep Annett Wolf said in a statement.
Swayze's career took off when he put Baby in a corner and starred in "Dirty Dancing." It took off again in "Ghost" with Demi Moore. These are two of the biggest chick flicks of all time, and help make Swayze one of the biggest chick flick actors of all time.
However, if go beyond those two movies and study his filmography, Swayze starred in some fairly solid guy flicks.
In light of the recent news about Patrick Swayze, Top 5 Thursday counts down his best guy flicks:
5) "Youngblood"
An '80s movie about hockey and becoming a man. Swayze plays the Mustangs' best player who gets jacked in the head on a cheap shot from an archrival. Rob Lowe saves the day.
4) "Red Dawn"
Was there a more manly thing to do during the Cold War days than saving America from those evil Communists? So when those Soviet and Cuban troops invade the U.S. of A., who better than Swayze to stop them?
3) "The Outsiders"
An all-time coming-of-age classic for teenagers and wannabe rebels. Swayze played "Darry," the oldest of three Curtis brothers and de facto father of the group. Peep the rest of the cast: Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Diane Lane, Leif Garrett, Sofia Coppola. Insane!
2) "Road House"
Let's see. This movie is about bars, beating people up and being the man. Yep, just about everything you need for a guy flick. Oh yeah, add in some love scenes with then-hot Kelly Lynch.
1) "Point Break"
Via con dios, Bodi! Swayze plays a carefree surfer/renegade bank robber. He escapes the cops -- not suprising seeing how those cops were Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey -- but eventually meets his fate when Special Agent Johnny Utah lets him go for one ride on his surfboard during the 50-year storm in Australia.

I have loved Patrick's dancing, his sensitivity and interpretation for a long time. He has always been so fit and strong - I will pray for you and your wife to have the endurance and strength to beat this horrible disease, hit remission and stay there. here is so much music for you to still dance to. My heart goes out to you.

Eden, I am thinking and praying for Patrick, he is my favorite actor, he is great and handsome and I enjoy all his movies.
I believe that with all prays, medical experts and Patrick's strong will to beat the cancer he can do it.

Is it so hard for people to feel bad for others these days. Even if you do not agree that there is a God, and you mock those who do believe, at least they are displaying some form of sympathy for someone who has just been told he has weeks to live. Think how you would feel if you were told you were dying, and kiss goodbye all your loved ones cos soon your body will fail and you will rot in ground. Who cares if he is a celebrity or not... he still is living knowing he dying and helpless and has a family. Whether you agree with religion and politics or not, you should still have have normal human qualities like empathy.
My thoughts and prayers are with Patrick and his family during this time. This truly hits home. My Mom and Aunt passed away from cancer. My Dad is now struggling with this horrible disease. Patrick has always been one of my favorite actors. Watching him act brightens my day. I pray he will somehow survive this.

i loved watching any movie that he was in and like others, i guess "Ghost" wll always be a favourite. He seemed to adapt to any role that he played, some good, some bad. It would be a shame when he pass's. But as others have said before me, many have passed away before him, and many will pass after him. An everydy person doesnt make World Headlines. Im sure i wouldnt if it was me or my own family. Maybe we should be thinking about te way we live or lives, they are too short and precious, and i wouldnt say hes lived a long life at all. Its a fairly short one whch is a shame really.
This is about a man who has cancer, forget the fact that he is well known, he has all the bodily functions that we have, he breathes, he eats and exretes and more importantly is able to feel fear.
I would feel compassion for anyone in this situation; a pauper or a prince. This awful disease can not be cured by making a Hollywood blockbuster and buying a cure.
So please, if you cannot leave a nice message which would give Patrick, his family and other sufferers some strength, it is best to stay silent.

Patrick, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My father just passed away from cancer, they found it too late and he died within 5 days of being dianosed. I know what cancer is like and I hope and pray with all my heart that you make it through this rough time. I am also praying for your wife to have the strength to help you through this.

Gee Patrick Swazye gets sick and people have trouble remembering what Jesus did and said and how to act so we glorify His name rather than make him look bad because we can't keep the swear words out of our messages. He said we are to pray for EVERYONE! This includes Patrick, the people that posted comments on this site, war heroes, the men and women fighing in the war now, your family, my family, the guy who cut you off in traffic this morning, EVERYONE!! From what I understand this particular article was SPECIFICALLY about Patrick Swayze. I don't get where it's wrong to pray for him too???? I'm confused and saddened by the hate spewed by SOME people on this commentary that said they would pray for other people. I'm sure God isn't listening when you say you will pray for someone and then cuss them out.
Anyway my main point is PRAY FOR EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD and it will cover everything even Patrick. I Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray without ceasing." If we would do more praying and less complaining this world would be a MUCH better place!

Well if people stopped being so naive about the whole god thing perhaps more would write. I dont take offense by those who say they want to pray for him, thats their choice, however they should not judge those who dont believe in him. When was the last time god did a miracle?? Thats not judging those who believe but more the word itself. Perhaps Jac, the point is.. If there is a god.. then soldiers going to war and killing others, people using violence as social justice etc,.. everything you said in your blog.. perhaps that is why this supposed god has turned his back on the people..because we cause so much grief to those around us.. so therefor our opinions are valid. So while you pray for others... remember it is not god who cures cancer.. it's scientists. So stop with the tantrum towards those who may find it a little difficult to believe in this saviour.

First of all I was referring to rj specifically regarding prayer and foul language. Second of all naivety and belief in God don't seem to go hand in hand to me. I personally don't care if someone believes what I believe or not. And it seems to me the only one throwing a tantrum about their beliefs is you MS. My father happened to be one of those soldiers you so vehemently seem to hate. I never saw him do anything but WHAT HIS COUNTRY COMMANDED HIM TO DO! When you sign up for the military you agree to do what you are told, no matter what. If it weren't for the soldiers you wouldn't have the rights to free speech like you have on this website. And regardless of what you believe, God does cure cancer and diabetes and gout and many other health problems as I have witnessed personally in several people I go to Church with and live with. You can believe that or not but it's not me who will be wondering what will happen to me when I die. I know I'm going to Heaven and NO ONE or ANYTHING will EVER change my belief.
